Do you use an Intel Atom?

Do you use an Intel Atom?

Fucking love mine.

>Great battery life
>Great performance for regular shit like web browsing
>good value

only real gripe is the screen, but I might upgrade to one of those chinese ones like the chuwi hi12.

inb4
>2gb

included the performance monitor to show that for non-intensive shit you'll do fine with 2GB.

What are your thoughts on your current atom devices?

Should add, only issue with the screen is the resolution. Would like 1080p but it still looks nice.

>1368x768
>1368

Problem?

i've never used an atom before

The most comfy resolution.

>Very cheap
>Low power consumption
>Doesn't need to much GPU to drive it
>Everything looks big and comfy, no need to downscale

Battery life on mine is shockingly good. I just use it as an easy-carry writing machine but it lasts and lasts and lasts.

This. They're like macbook air, but better because not overpriced junk

I have a Chuwi Vi8 Ultimate.

>Z3736F
>2GB RAM
>16GB Windows 8.1
>16GB Android 4.4
>1280x800 IPS screen

Battery life is around 7-8 hours of actual use. It's powerful enough for generic web browsing or any "office" task. I also use it for RDP/Teamviewer access.

I got myself an OTG-charging HUB so I can actually use a keyboard+mouse on it while it's charging, so it's like a mini all-in-one PC.

Price was ~$48 off eBay. One can't even get a proper phone for that money, let alone a full blown PC.

Underpowered trash.

What do you need so much power for? You think you are a 1337 h4xx0r or what?

I've got a netbook with an N270 and had a few tablets with modern Atoms. I'd still be using my Cr-48 with its Atom N455 if the hinges didn't break. My laptop broke a few weeks ago and I might pick up another Cr-48 though, I miss that thing.

I'm also replacing my desktop and server with a VM server that has an 8 core Atom and 32GiB RAM

No, Cheap =/= Comfy.

The most C resolution atm is QHD
>Runs excellent on most mid-high end systems.
>Perfect for phones, laptops and desktops, with excellent DPI on most panel sizes.
>Doesn't possess the same deal breaking scaling issues of 4k.

>poverty

No point of QHD on a tablet/netbook desu. You won't run apps side-by-side anyways on such a small screen, and most websites are still optimized for 1024x768 screens so all you would see is a narrow strip of content in the middle.

QHD is gud on smartphones for VR porn, hell I'd love 4K now.
On tablets... Idk, I just added that for the memes, I've never needed or wanted a tablet desu.

So pretty much a macbook air?

...

>Facebook
>Music on YouTube
>YouTube to MP3
>Windows
>Opera
>1368x768

normie as fuck

You will get better experience by connecting your phone to an external display if that's all you do.

>Opera
Get it right, that's Chropera.

Ew

m-muh convergence

~170$

Had it a few months, I like it.

install gentoo

You're using your PC as a phone anyway.

>Hampoo
What tablet/laptop is this?

Got a HP Stream 11.
It ran like shit.
I installed Ubuntu and holy shit it's fucking perfect now.
>12 hours battery life
>perfect perfs for everyday use
>fast as fuck
>can watch 720p animu online with ease
I love it.
Only downside is that I still haven't figured out how to make the wifi work.
RTL8723be is a bitch.

I have the same wireless adapter as you on my laptop
It only works if I sit 1m away from the antenna but even so it is slow
I tried a lot of things and nothing fixes it, I am using an usb wifi adapter

Yeah that's what I'm doing right now, but the computer only has 2 USB ports.
Also it tends to heat a lot.

That sounds annoying as fuck. I'm using w8 cause my t100ta has no wifi with Ubuntu and only one USB port...

I used to have an Intel Atom netbook. It was slow as molasses. I'm glad I got rid of that thing.

Newer atoms are much better. E7200 performance might not sound like much, but with a 4w power target it's impressive. Also it's plenty powerful for normie shit

Why are you trying to convince this manchildren, that numbers doesn't matter than much in real world?
Holy shit
>QHD/2k/4k screens in smartphones
>buhuu why the battery only lasts for 12 hours
Top kek

It's also quite fun that you can run it off a solar cell mat.

>Opera
>Normie
All the normies use Chrome

A Chuwi is hardly an upgrade, a friend of mine has one and the screen is pretty shitty, it even came with a couple dead pixels right out of the box

I have a machine with the exact spec. IT'S FUCKING GARBAGE. IT CAN'T EVEN PLAY FUCKING YOUTUBE AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE.
I HATE IT AND IF IT WASN'T A PRESENT I WOULD HAVE TROWN IT INTO A FUCKING BIN.

>also no linux support because of strange chipset they use.

I think they are the personification of the cancer in the IT form.

>IT CAN'T EVEN PLAY FUCKING YOUTUBE AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE
I call bullshit

make a video of this. any cherry trail or bay trail atom can play 1080p youtube just fine.

It is not. Really.
I have an acer aspire switch 10.
It lags like shit if you play youtube and try to do whatever you want alongside with the video

I rma'd this shit, because it turned off and never on. I have still pic of me trying to boot ubuntu and debian on this. I succeded both but i ran in a lot of problems like randomic freezes caused by some obscure power managment patch missings

Pic related is the shit installing ubuntu with no bootloader (ubiquity setting) and then i had to install manually grub into the efi partition because of fuckin 32 bit locked bootloader

I've had Pineview, Baytrail, and Cherrytrail Atoms, all can handle YouTube flawlessly.

Also no wifi because some obscure broadcom chipset that seems to work with nothing except windows and so i had to buy an eth-usb piece of shit to go further and succed in the process of download, build and install grub

$25, didnt think twice

>find a shittier resolution
>i dare you

I think HP released a netbook with 1024x576 resolution.
The Original Asus eeePC had 800x480.

My IdeaPad S10's got a 1024x576 screen
