Recommend me a lightweight Linux Distro

I need a Linux distro that will be used mainly for porn
My host machine is windows 7 with 8GB of RAM so I would like a distro that would run in 1gb of RAM or less
Nice GUI so i won't look like a faggot
The minimum that I will install there is firefox/chrome (for porn), decent image viewers, decent video players

Ubuntu Server with gnome-shell

>install gentoo

...

Puppy Linux, you fuck. That's as minimum as you can get.

>he doesn't know about Gentoo
>the distribution he recommends uses a generic kernel
>he recommends bloated Linux distributions

Just install anything that offers a minimal install. If you have 8gb or ram why are you concerned about ram usage? To look cool? Is that why you want a de that looks neat out of the box? Have fun dickwaving.

I'll install it in a VM. I dont want my porn sandbox to eat up half of my machine

>1GB of ram or less
>nice gui
Pick one

Debian netinst with lxde, I've managed to run it on a 512MB machine

>Windows user detected

>he thinks xfce and lxde look nice

>he thinks Windows is nice

Install gentoo

set them up nice and they'll look nice

This is the only correct answer.
A desktop using KDE on Gentoo will use ~300-400MB ram

I'm not a fucking windows user you autist. Not everyone who doesn't share the opinions are windows users.

What desktop environment are you using that uses more than 1GB ram?

lubuntu, the most lightweight linux distro out there.

>lubuntu, the most lightweight linux distro out there.
You new here?

...

the machines you can run puppy on would choke on gentoo

it literally is

puppy and tinycore are much more lightweight

How so? Gentoo doesn't require a desktop environment, so it is inherently lighter. You can even make a bootable Gentoo floppy disk.

Yeah, no.

this2bh.

i'd expect that png screenshot of a mp4 faggotry everywhere but at Cred Forums

>bootable Gentoo floppy disk.
same with puppy but you can also run it entirely off RAM so it's super snappy on absolute 20yo toasters

k den

This, but I'd take it one step further and go without a DE/WM. Ubuntu server uses almost nothing for resources.

Does anyone know what font that is?

leddit must have some font sub. you can probably ask there

Holy shit, I don't think I've ever seen an OS use so little ram. Nice job.

KEK

Standard Arch resource consumption. I've got a personal VM I use for testing web stuff so it's running apache, php-fpm, and mysql. Obviously there's no real traffic going to it so it's not like a real web server, but just having all the services online is using ~150MB of RAM so it's hardly even noticeable from my host machine.

Also only using 2.5G of disk space, and most of that is from pacman's cache and unused docs and shit that I can probably trim if I wanted to.

I use about 250mb idle on arch with i3

350mb idle with gnome

arch is the way to go bud

Suck it, nerds

try lubuntu and clal it a day.

Summer is over, gtfo.

No DE or WM, not impressed.

Tinycore awaits your greasy little fingers.

You should check out Slitaz which runs at ~30MB on my machine with a DE (LXDE I believe, or at least lxpanel)
