it's true i fucking hate stick shift

Except OSX is more like sequential shift on the steering wheel

If that was true, most cars would be automatics.

> thinks its hard to drive with stick shift
Just 'murica things

eh windows is more like the automanual than osx. Pic related is osx.

...

OS X is a *nix system that runs almost everything Linux can run.

...

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

Why does automatic cost more? Why is it even legal for people to drive manual?

Which car maker prohibits car owners to take apart their automatic gearboxes?

But they are. Manuals are only popular in irrelevant poor countries like Europe.

...

Which car spends designing and implementing measures specifically to prevent car buyers from swapping their transmission?

and? the jaguar that dial belongs to is probably just as fast as the shitbox with the manual.

the osx interface is the most dumbed down for the average user.

Americans and women fampai, they're a stupid people.

Which car maker makes its transmission open your car doors to authorities?

...

>Why is it even legal for people to drive manual?
Are there any stats regarding which one is safer?

what the fuck is that thing on the right

tf is that

>countries like Europe
Here's your (You) buddy

>countries
>irrelevant

Wrong.

Windows: Standard stick shift

GNU/Linux: Infinitely Variable Transmission

OSX: Automatic

>Can't drive a fucking normal car
get off my board fucking normie shit who can't even use a fucking shift mechanism he needs a program to do it for him

>OSX
>Not a slushbox

Apple products are like - instead of a gearbox- having 1 gear determined to be the best by someone in Cupertino.
>Why would you ever want anything other than the best gear? How can other manufacturers even compete with the Late 2018 Apple (TM) Rolltina (C) iGear? Mine's rose gold.

Cute

>Why does automatic cost more?
an automatic transmission is a lot more mechanically complex and generally needs more maintenance over its lifetime.

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

>Can't even properly downscale an image
>Clearly on inferior OS

...

>stick users are closet homos who cant resist feeling the stick between their fingers

Get on with the times, faggots.

literally any modern automatic will change gear more efficiently than you ever could. The only reason fags like you use stick shift is because of hard core autism or poverty, which is exactly true for linux as well.

...

>OS X is a *nix system

I am so tired of this meme. Steve Jobs paid OpenGroup to give OS X a SUS cert for marketing purposes. the goddamn XNU kernel even stands for XNU is NOT Unix.

All your cucks shitting on osx.

I'm on arch, so definitely not a macfag, but you have to give them some credit.

A better picture for osx would be a self driving car

>countries
>europe
Wat

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

>tfw CVT master race

my car literally cannot be more efficient at changing gears and i don't have to touch a thing

I have only seen the one in the middle
What the fuck are those other things

look, i also think that mac is shit tier, but thats just not fair. Its somewhat gets the job done as an os, but it treats you like a sucking babe while doing it. Hence I think a self driving car is most appropriate.

kek

Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

if were going to talk about cars, what do you drive Cred Forums?
95' Jeep Wrangler
That one got a laugh out of me.

Wouldn't OSX just be a button?

Topkek, the point was that you shit can't drive manual.

Mac would just have a button that goes from forward to backward, if you want neutral you need to buy MacCoast by Sergei Yakimvladoslav on the Apple Appstore for $4.99

Mercedes CLK 200 kompressor master race.

Beat me to it. But OSX is more of a dildo on auto than on manual.

>butthurt yuropoor fags detected

americucks that have different impractical measurements that make no sense and teach kids how to drive automatics on age 16 lmaoooo

True, what's the problem with knowing how to drive both?
Intellectual barrier?

...

>I've never used OS X

UNIX is a certification, you don't just pay for the label, you pay for a test that gives your OS the label should it pass the test. OS X is UNIX and you cannot deny this. Even without UNIX certification, calling it a *nix is more than accurate.

Why the fuck would it be illegal to drive a manual car?

I don't use a manual transmission for efficiency.

Are you one of those idiots that think you shouldn't be able to drive till 18?

i dont think americans teach their kids to drive manual at all

>Are you one of those idiots that think you shouldn't be able to drive till 18?
>legal age for booze
>21
>legal age to fuck shit up on the street with your car
>16

Lived 2 years in the US, driving etiquette is nothing to even talk about.

Just because the age for alcohol is high doesn't mean the age to drive should be too, dumbass.

you're right, we ought to lower the drinking age

You're right, I can't
I also can't wash clothes with a washing board, nor can I churn butter, nor can I calibrate a Dish Antennae for Satellite, nor can I write code in BASIC

I don't know how to do anything that's been clearly outclassed by a better replacement, rendering it useless

So it's normal that the age for responsibility of fucking up your own life while drunk, is higher then the responsibility for fucking up other people's lives with a motorised vehicle?

You realize how dumb it sounds?

>I also can't wash clothes with a washing board, nor can I churn butter, nor can I calibrate a Dish Antennae for Satellite, nor can I write code in BASIC
That means you're just not man enough.

>tfw those are actually almost exactly the rules from the manly rulebook

...

Mac.

>rendering it useless
Until it's required.

I never said it made perfect sense, but again, just because one age is retardedly high doesn't mean the other should be too.

Nope

Your "manly rulebook" was written by puritans it it includes churning butter

Why would you ever want to use a manual?

I can see wanting to use an "equivalent" like Linux but manual is stupidity.

youtu.be/6N4tLAAy5Fg

>you can't do shit that was useful 20 years ago
>you are not man

>Your "manly rulebook" was written by puritans it it includes churning butter

Classic :^)

But teslas are ugly as fuck (as awesome as they are otherwise), and am not a apple fanboi, but at least they get the industrial design right.

So driving isn't ass?

A man is someone who develops every aspect of himself, not just "meh, too lazy to do that, won't probably ever need to know it anyways".

XNU is reference AT&T UNIX, not the Unix badge of being Unixy.

>All 3 can be used to pleasure your anus

>OSX is in almost every sense better than Windows

seems right

enjoy your transmission wearing out quicker than it would on a manual.

>implying your stereo doesn't have an LCD screen

Driving stick shift will usually force someone into better driving habits. Either that or they go insane and crash, because they have been driving automatic their whole life.

Why is that chair so happy in the first reflection?

Jetta Sport
Manual
Care to explain?

How the fuck could you work better than the computer for shifting?

It's litterally just scrubbing on the board with soap and water then rinsing.
If you lack the ability to do that how do you even manage to wash yourself in the shower?

you decide when you want power instead of a computer arbitrarily doing it for you and you have the ability to downshift.

youtube.com/watch?v=OFDy9pGTtjE

I fucking hate how shifting works in automatics
>press accelerator
>instead of accelerating in current gear it steps up to next gear
Just all of the little shitty quirks like that that don't happen in manuals because the transmission only explicitly does what you want.

...

Linux: Simple yet powerful. With proper skills and configuration, it allows you to do anything - extremely efficiently. Careful, though. If you make a mistake (which is entirely your own fault), you might get seriously hurt.

Windows: Almost as powerful as Linux, despite having some degree of retard-proofing. Many features and lots of available software, but also noticeable amounts of bloat. "Just werks", but doesn't really give its user the right to fix any OS problems that do arise (being proprietary and all). Oh, and unless you're an expert user that can stop it, the botnet will be spying on you in the background.

Mac: Nigga what?

>I've never used OS X

2007 Honda Civic 2.2 CDT-I. An absolute bucket but nice and powerful.

I didn't know how a washing board even worked because it's completely irrelevant to my life and it always will be

You're mistaken, I'm not butthurt at all, I just literally don't care about rules if said rules include things like "you must be able to churn butter" and "you have to be able to use a washing board"

Right unless the machinery and computer together can account for a split second decision of what the person in the car wants, there is no other way. If there was no shifting of the automatic transmission and the accelerator was a continuous would be the only way I would accept it, and that would get tiresome or the pedal would need to be like the whole distance of your knee to the floor.

Try an auto Porsche, you don't need to shift and because of the high torque you never notice any of that shit

So you're telling me you
>Built your computer completely from raw materials and built any tools you used during the process
>Mined the materials for parts and tools yourself
>Created the mining tools yourself out of materials
>Found the materials for the mining tools yourself

sounds comfy and the aspect of being able to have one hand free is appealing but still

okay very simple questions (i don't know the anwsers I never drove and automatic).
Can you start your car from second gear?
Will you down shift if you idle to use the motor brake?
Can you gear up faster than usual?
Can you let yourself go in free gear?

>linux
simple and powerful
>os x
advanced, slightly less powerful but more useful for desktop purposes, more software available, actually pretty unix-y, can fix problems, no botnet, isn't really bloated compared to similarly configured linux desktop
>windows
worst of Linux and OS X

Why is everyone pretending like OSX is this useless blunt knife in the tool drawer when that's clearly not the case?

It's like this:
Linux tends to be bare-bones, but it's very powerful. It gives you access to all parts of the system without fighting you for it. This power extends to every part of the system, even parts that a user would/should typically never change. This is good if you're experienced, and bad if you're inexperienced.

Windows is somewhat featured, and decently powerful. It has access to an incredibly wide range of software, allowing for a very flexible system. Accessing things on the low level can be a gigantic pain in the ass, since it's built on top of code from the 80s that still remains in the system.

OSX is essentially feature-complete out of the box. It has access to a wide suite of tools much like Windows, but the options are thinner and often times unless you're willing to pirate you're going to have to pay for functionality that would be free on Linux or Windows. It flat-out hides content from the user that could harm them if changed, but this is fairly easy to unhide. Although extremely user-friendly, it still retains the functionality of windows in most aspects.

also I forgot
>OSX is more or less locked to midrange, extremely well-designed and EXTREMELY overpriced hardware

>windows
A replication of current technology superimposed over all backwards compatibility in user interface standards since it's inception. Bundled with being simper for techs to lock down, network and control for office or school environments.

>no gearstick
>no handbrake

Into the trash it goes

>I just literally don't care about rules if said rules include things like
>too stupid to get said joke

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

Linux

oh look. another boring car metaphor.

The only time your car knows when theres low traction is when the wheels actually slip and spin faster than one another. The computer and sequentially the gearbox will adjust for this. In a manual you have your eyes. You KNOW you're in a low traction environment. You know to be in a lower gear and when to increase or decrease throttle. You don't need to wait for a computer to make those decisions.

The kernel for OS X is still Darwin. Nextstep is unix + mach + BSD

Are you seriously arguing with a copy pasta?

Who are you quoting? I never said that

checked

Linux can be anything you want it to be.

Everyone loves to have OSX, but imo it's pretty much same as Linux. My work machine runs Linux for obvious reasons, but for hobby shit I see no reason why MacBooks would be bad. With OS X I don't have to think about trivial stuff like UI, while on Linux I'm constantly tweaking stuff to be pixel perfect, which usually ends up in a disaster down the road.

ftfy son.

I'm 'murican, and I only drive stick. I've owned nothing but manual transmission vehicles since I started driving 10 years ago. I probably won't stop driving stick until old age starts crippling me with arthritis, but by that point, I shouldn't be driving anyway.

You do know that the Windows and OSX transmission you showed is pretty much the same thing?

I'm sick of seeing it. And I'm sure most of the retards that post it legitimately believe in it. I'm not exactly arguing with the copypasta as much as I was arguing with the shitposter repeatedly posting the copypasta.

if you think linux is the same as OSX you missed the entire point: all the useful features and integrations

You do know you're retarded, right? The Windows transmission just allows you to put it in drive, the OS X transmission allows you to shift up and down gear by gear.

I see them quite often. I've been car shopping lately and always just peek through the window at the shifter to see if it's worth buying or not, quite surprisingly half the cars I've looked at have been manual (note that I'm not saying half the cars in the US are stick, also should point out that I've mainly been looking at sports cars and muscle cars so there're higher odds of them being manual)

>turn the knob slightly too much as there's no feedback on what gear you're in
>car won't move

>implying skipping gears will make a car stop
Hell you can forget about 1st and 2nd gear, start in 3rd, and skip straight to 5th if you really wanted to. At least in my car.

Once you go automatic with cruise control, you can't go back

I've got cruise control in my manual car, retard.

Ok?

Lincoln solved this problem by using buttons.
It truly is the patrician's taste in gear selectors.

wut, I was talking about automatic transmissions, and you bring up traction control? It is the fluid coupling that makes an auto better than manual. It relies on rules of physics, so there is no delay like if you used a human or computer to process information. The fluid in the coupling absorbs extra power that would cause wheel spin if a manual was used. On inclines, the fluid coupling keeps one from slipping for the same principles that prevent wheel spin. The closest thing you can do with a manual is have the starter move the car before the engine turns on, and you still need to modulate the throttle once the engine is on.

tl;dr
Automatic is superior on inclines and low traction situations because of the fluid coupling and physics. The useage of a computer or human to monitor wheelspin and traction will always lag behind a full mechanical system dependent on the forces themselves.

For some reason dipshits think you can't have cruise control in a stick shift, I figured you were one of them. You're still retarded though.

Why so touchy?

Try to put it in reverse and you might accidentally go to neutral

And efficiency, let's say you are right.
But:
1) You have power loss thanks to the automatic tranny.
2) It costs more to repair an automatic tranny, they break more often.
3) You cannot get power WHEN YOU NEED to.
If you have an S65 Mercedes with a V12, yes, you have enough power reserve. But a normal car will have barely any spare.

On manual you can double clutch back to 3rd or 4th, and you can save your life, your passengers, other people.

>I shouldn't be driving anyway.
People in Europe even at 100 year old drive stick, it becomes a reflex, etc.

> Kompressor master race
I wonder why it's master race when Mercedes dropped it from every model.

FORD Transit and a Suzuki WagonR shopping cart.
> inb4 woman's car
Sister bought it, couldn't afford keeping it.
It's extremely comfy for tight spaces, it's comfy inside, and you can just replace the whole door if they fuck it up for 10$.

Which happened twice, once in a major side a fucktard jammed his mirror into the side, then he sped away. Then a few weeks ago again, some fuck went into the side, and almost "stabbed it through". No idea what caused the damage.

But, the whole fix is 10$, so fuck it.

Feeling bad for the poor fella, having to drive such a pile of shit. But yeah, truckers are often like this, they get 10-20 year old trucks that can barely move, but companies are too jewish to buy new ones.

OSX is more like a DCT with a stick and paddles. It can coddle you if you're retarded, but it will let you do what you want if you have the knowledge. It just costs way too fucking much.

only 5 speed ?
which ford is that?
even our connect has 6 speed manual...

the 1L petrol has 5?
I don't even know, like 6 is just to drop rpm in high speeds, it's literally for granny/highway driving. Beyond me why they would skip adding that.

That's a LHD Ford...

>implying the neckbeards of Cred Forums know anything about vehicles outside of raceroom

Probably focus or fiesta

Why is windows a high performance death machine?
I wish i felt like i was using state of the art tech, at best it feels like an old used sports car being held together by tape and any update might just break the whole thing again.

Except its literally a linux computer on wheels.

i didn't get it. pls elaborate

Also I will never understand why vans, regardless of their equipment/optional stuff cannot have digital AC.

It's fucking beyond me.

have you ever set your foot on a clutch pedal user?

Of course he hasn't. He's just some faggot that thinks it's okay to form opinions on things he's never tried.

it does the job i guess

btw why is Skoda so popular?
I see so many in Hungary, but I never understood why.

I looked up reviews, they said it's shit.
The design never looked too good either.
What's the trick?

I also though they sell them very cheap for companies or something... like there are so many Fabia vans out there. And simple Octavia/Superb for businesses, it's crazy.

no idea, i bought this thing for 600€ ~2 years ago
because i didn't have any more money and it just had everything fixed that needed fixing.
I know fuck all about cars but i haven't had any problems with it apart from one brake getting stuck.
german btw

but it fits and got you triggered

I mean I checked the current models just now.
> Octavia Touring RS
> 2L petrol engine
> 29000 EUR
...
> Octavia Rapid "Sports"
> 1.2L petrol engine
> 15000 EUR

So I picked an Octavia "230" which is supposed to have 230 BHP.
After putting in the essentials, it's 34.000 EUR.

It's puzzling to me why people buy them, it's just so fucking expensive...
For comparison, a Ford Mondeo Titanium fitted with a 2.0L engine with dual turbochargers, is: ~34.000 EUR too.

Been driving the same 94 Jetta GLS for 16 years.

It isn't fast but it handles amazing and the ORIGINAL suspension and transmission are still good after 200k miles lmao.

hmm good point

Those people probably don't have arthritis, retard. Why don't you try reading what you're replying to?

I have driven all of them.

>Stick shift prevent arthritis - confirmed.
Why americans want to have arthritis is beyond me.

I may have made a mistake, shouldve just bought a miata or used audi

manual give you freedom

As an American who drives manual, I am deeply ashamed in my compatriot's post.

>le automatic is faster may may
nice bait lad

Nice, I had an 87 a few years ago. One day I'd love to get another FC, or an FB or even snag an FD.

Charcoal grills make your food taste way better than disgusting gas grills. Coming from a fag who tried the same shit on both. It's not a placebo to me. It actually does.

...

windows would be auto and manual at the same time, where you have to press the clutch in a weird way, switch both manual and auto transmissions at the same time and it only changes gear half the time anyway.

gnu/linux is a transmission with no assists, and if you fuck up/grind the gears everything instantly blows up in your face

os x is an automatic transmission you can flip into manual mode sometimes, like a CVT I guess.

glad someone else saw the smiley face

2013 2.0L Focus

2009 Mazda Miata
2013 Ford F150

yo, I'm American and I drive stick. we're not all fucking retarded, just a good number of us.

Ford Focus 2009 (manual shift, maybe it's just my specific model but it's he best car I've ever driven, haven't driven too many cars tho)

>os x is an automatic transmission you can flip into manual mode sometimes

But only sometimes, unless you void your warranty.

Nothing you do with OS X will void your warranty.
