How the fuck do I get my shit back

So I'll have to build one, then.

I have an older motherboard, and it uses a P6 and 6-pin AUX (top pic) for motherboard power, but the PSU has a 20+4 connector with no adapter. Will the adapter in the bottom pic work, even though it has a P4 and not a P6?

Is it worth bringing up my desktop from home when I already have my laptop? I don't like the idea of having a fuckton of cables having a gangbang with my laptop on top of my desk, nor do I like the idea of having to buy all those cables and hubs.

From last thread,
The thing is, I already have one I built for them ~6 years ago but the parts are all pretty obsolete. I could recycle the case, power supply and optical drive but I'd have to buy an OEM copy of Windows and Microsoft office for them which sets me back $200 already.

pic related is from the manual for the PC, if that helps.

Damn, forgot pic

I made a thread:

Hey, I'm currently watching Mr Robot and I'm reading some articles comparing it to reality, it reminded me, I never understood the "layers of security" depicted in movies, that a hacker might have to break to access some systems.
What are those layers actually?
Also is the kind of interface of pic related really used?

They are usually talking about firewalls or other forms of access control.

And no, they don't really use interfaces like that. It's usually more like a spreadsheet with the cells colored red or green

Something like that?

Thanks for the other answer. Do you have keywords I could use to understand how firewalls creates "layers" of protection? I don't really see what it is practically (like, physical protection + encryption is considered two layers?). It's usually represented as literal layers to go though, it's also like that in my head, I thought that was bullshit and never bothered researching if that was a thing or not.

Is there a better way of listening to audio books ?

I mean I end up downloading 500meg mp3s and then lose track where I left off.

What is a good solution here ?

My PC isn't detecting my 1440p monitor and only my 1080p monitor.

My 1080p monitor is connected by DVI and my 1440p is connected by HDMI, both to my 1070 GPU. Any reason why it wont detected the 1440p one?

Oh no, I wasn't sure what was a spreadsheet but I see now, ok thanks. (ESL)

from the previous thread: Is there a way to compile in VS without all the extra shit thrown in with a project? I'd like to be able to work on something in both windows and linux (my laptop and desktop run different OS's) without a lot of work or mess. I already know I'm probably a retard for wanting this and not just using gcc on both, but it would be nice to see if this is an option. Also on that note what are the comfiest compiled languages to use across different OS's?

Like excel, or something like pic related.

I don't have any keywords that could probably help you, but you are right in think that they are not literal layers of protection.

A better analogy might to consider networks as a series of paths you are walking down. You are not allowed to go off the paths (easily), but "layers of protection" might be something like a gate, or a fence, or in some cases a brick wall placed in the path.

Hey.

I bought the shitload of g4's you may remember me.

They all had MacOs 10.4 on them except one that didn't have any operating system on it. I put the PowerPC version of Lubuntu on there because its pretty much a match made in heaven and it works pretty good.

Got a few computers that are locked down with accounts, but I can get to the bios ok.

Basically how does MacOs handle operating systems. Before I format these fresh do I need to recover the license key or anything? Ironically the program named "Mac Key Finder" can't do this, if so. Can I boot from a USB somehow because I don't have blank CD's anywhere...

here you can get windows and ms office for free

Looking for some feedback on a high end gaming rig. I already own the GTX 980, which is why it's in there.

Any other advice/resources on watercooling and high end cases would be great

>why buy ms office when you can use openoffice/libreoffice or pirate

It really depends on the kind of work you will be doing with your word processor, the business world and 99% of people run on MS Office, why go against the grain here ? If you will be regularly sending these files to other people might as well get office and make your life easier. Not everyone is on some 4 year IT hardware cycle, you might be suprised just how many businesses are using office 2010 or older which can throw a real wrench when it comes to compatibility between office and some free/open alternative.

If its just home shit, then yeah sure use whaetver the fuck you want.

You can get office + 1tb of onedrive for $8/month since cloud storage is so popular these days its like youre getting office for free

weavesilk?

Any reason for a 4790k ? if not save yourself some money and get some i5 instead

That PSU is stupid expensive, get something cheaper like a SuperNova G2 for ~100 bucks less

The SSD is painfully small

and expensive case != high end, what is your justification for such a case ? did you just sort by price and rating ?
The case should be aesthetically pleasing to you and meet your requirements (actual requirements, not fantasy requirements about plopping in 10 HDDs in there)

consider some i5 6600k microatx build + the 980 +16gb of ram +a 500gb SSD + superNOVA g2 + phanteks matx case

as for cooling im not sure what you are looking for, a custom loop ? some all in one ?

How do I know if my battery has overcharge protection? I don't want to kill an extended battery I can't find anywhere by leaving it plugged in too long. If XP says running on AC power when it's fully charged should I be good or is there more to it than that?

Security updates till 2019. Besides, it's not like a newer version of Windows is going to run even remotely well on a ULV Core Solo with 512MiB RAM

I'm new to the linux world. I've watched documentaries and interviews on FOSS, Linux, GNU, GNU/Linux, Hurd, and Stallman.

I've gotten the impression that Stallman (RMS) is really disappointed that Linus gets all the attention.

What's the appeal of RMS? Is he doing anything beneficial? Is he just salty?

I don't mean to put him down what he did with GNU at the very beginning seemed fantastic and very impact.

Also what's the difference between FOSS, Open Source, Free, etc. How are they different which do you think is better?

What?

Just...just why? What is your niche use case?

A UMPC. I'm actually upgrading the HDD right now

Stallman is a shitty spokesman who hasn't done anything useful in a long time

FOSS - Free open source software
You're free to modify and redistribute the source code

Open source = source code is provided, license may prevent modification and redistribution

Free can just mean provided at no cost, usually closed source.

If it's a Li-ion, it DOES have overcharge protection. If it didn't, overcharging wouldn't give you a dead battery, it would give you jets of fire shooting out of the battery.

What kills laptop batteries is not being plugged in all the time, at least not directly. Laptops run with high performance settings when plugged in, and therefore produce more heat. Heat is what kills the battery.

Of course some laptops do a better job keeping the heat away from the battery than others.

>irc
What year is it user?

Very recently, I pirated an older game that had a custom installer and everything seemed fine until I realized that my CPU has increased temp to 60/70. I assume this means that I had a bitcoin miner installed on my PC, but malwarebytes can't detect it. What should I do?

Why wont this go away? I can't find the process in task manager and I have no idea what it's called.

>Security updates till 2019

That's like saying you're using a ship from the american revolution to fight in world war 2, but it's cool because you're still upgrading your hull with sturdier pieces of wood.

I really couldn't give less of a shit, at least there are some security updates. Not like I do banking or anything on this thing anyway.

explorer?

Yeah that actually did the trick. I kicked explorer.exe in my task manager and then brought it back thru run and it seemed to work.

What one? I have a Vaio UX with a 1.3 GHz Core Solo and 1 GB RAM. Runs fine with Windows 7 or 8.1.

I have like Rstudio, Eclipse, an HTML editor, a hex editor, and a SQL program. I was thinking stuff like Tor or vpn/paranoid security shit that the big boys use

Pic unrelated

Vaio VGN-UX180P, it can barely handle XP. The CPU's worse than an Atom N270 (apparently that's actually possible). I'm definitely not trying anything newer till I get an SSD in here so that swap doesn't absolutely trash performance (HDD has 17MB/s sequential read and write, sub 1MB/s random r/w)

Pic related. Disk 0 is my new drive.

You realize most $100 laptops would pound that thing? I mean yes, an SSD would techincally help, but I think you've reached the point where your reccomended upgrade budget for that unit is $0.00. And you'll probably have to hack it just to make trim work.

Oh wait, is it because the RAW drive needs to become NTFS?

>You realize most $100 laptops would pound that thing?
No fucking shit. You think I have a 10 year old handheld computer for raw performance?
>I mean yes, an SSD would techincally help, but I think you've reached the point where your reccomended upgrade budget for that unit is $0.00
I'm pouring money into this thing for no reason other than I want to. First I'm upgrading from a 30GB HDD to a 240GB mSATA SSD, next I'm upgrading from 802.11a/b/g to 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi.

Mine's a 390 or something. Similar to yours, very slightly faster CPU and 2x more RAM.

I also put a Kingspec 128 GB SSD in mine years ago because the 40 GB microdrive performed terribly. The SSD helps a ton, though doesn't perform as well as a more modern SSD.

For the SSD, you need 1.8", PATA with ZIF connector. They seem to market these for use with iPod Classic these days. I don't know how well it would perform but I think I've seen CF and SD card based things as well.

As for your original battery question: Yes the Vaio UX will stop charging when the battery is full, even if you're running an oblivious OS like DOS. However, the cooling is bad and it will toast your battery to death rather quickly so it might be a good idea to remove the battery when using it plugged in. Also I don't know if it was just heat issues, but the cells in the battery that came with mine seem awfully crappy.

But there are starving children in africa, and you're wasting money turning wilford brimley into inspector gadget

>For the SSD, you need 1.8", PATA with ZIF connector
I know what hardware I need. PATA SSDs are overpriced as fuck, I'm getting an mSATA SSD and an mSATA to ZIF PATA adapter, same setup that's in my iPod Classic.
>I think I've seen CF and SD card based things as well.
I actually just tried installing a CF card, sadly the adapter doesn't latch to the connector properly.

It's not like my money would be going to them if I chose not to do this. Quit bitching about my hobbies.

Go Go Gadget Dentures!

How's the performance on those adapters? If they're designed for iPods they might not perform so well since an iPod doesn't need much.

For reference, my KingSpec 128 GB drive from years ago writes at something like 25 MB/s.

windows sees only drives that are formatted to fat/ntfs and have drive letter
if it still no shows after formating you need to assign drive letter in diskmgmt

They're not designed for iPods, they're just adapters to convert one interface to the other that happen to work in iPods. Not sure what performance is going to be like but going mSATA + adapter is much cheaper than a straight up PATA SSD and I have a hard time believing performance will be worse than the current HDD.

My other concern would be size. Things are extremely cramped inside the UX, so if the adapter plus SSD is more than maybe 1 mm thicker than the original drive, it's not going to fit.

It fits, I just had an mSATA drive with adapter in the thing 10 minutes ago.

What does Cred Forums recommend for file recovery?

I can't access my 2tb at all, it turns on but nothing more, all it does it flases. I can see it on my linux but not my windows

>CPU temp increase = bitcoin miner
well gee whiz dude did you even check to make sure if a strange process was eating up your CPU? Maybe your cooler's fan failed.

What proxy/VPN services does Cred Forums uses?
Something free as I just want to bypass region block.

If you ain't paying the money is you - ed

Testdisk. Or use Linux to copy everything off it since you can access it normally from there.

And no you cannot recover files from a fucked filesystem back to the same filesystem. If it's not fucked too badly you can use chkdsk / ntfsfix to repair it.

what's the best way to backup windows machine and & files (documents) to a nas ? system restore won't do the job i think, since the file versions are left up to date, just the system files get restored, right ? 3rd party tool like robocopy ?

Found out it's due to being a seagate barracuda and they had a lawsuit on their asses for this shit. After I get what I can, I'm going straight to WD or Hitachi.

Do you intend the backup to be able to be restored and run like a normal system?

Yes ==> You need an actual system backup. Windows "Image Backup" will do the trick, as will dd (ddrescue if the disk has bad sectors) or a tool like Clonezilla or Easus Todo Backup.

No ==> Just copy the files. You can use 7zip to compress and bundle them, Robocopy to transfer in a way you can resume if it breaks, or just drag them.

No. Your board is non standard, that adapter is for really old systems that need an aux connector but still use the standard 20/24 pin connector.

Looks like your mobo needs 12V standby power, which standard supplies don't have, so just an adapter won't work.

It's not for me, but for a friend of my boss, who has never backed up his work laptop, mostly documents/bookkeeping. So I need to set it up one time to copy all the vital shit to the nas. I assume my boss has explained how his timemachine works, so that would be the ideal end result

>to REGULARLY copy all the vital shit to the nas

hey there /sqt/
I just recently started watching Ghost in the Shell 2 on VLC, and noticed that some of the dialog was being skipped in the subtitles
I figured that .srt file in particular was to blame, so I tried loading another I downloaded online, but this only made things worse, causing the subtitles to be completely out of sync, start too early etc.
What's strange is that even when I loaded the original .srt file, it didn't go back to what it was originally with skipping and whatnot, but instead stayed continued to be out of sync like the new .srt file I loaded, and sometimes not even working at all
I also downloaded MPC-HC and tried that but am getting the exact same problems
What the fuck do I do? Reinstall VLC? Retorrent the the original .srt file and MP4?

OK so don't judge me for this but I found Sonic SATM and Sonic boom I think... the animes. I'm not an autist sonic fan but I do like it.

Why did this guy do this? I don't get it.

In parts? They are all the same in each one

Ah thanks man, it's back on

You lack the first part. That's the part you have to open and extract.

No I have it and I can extract it fine, but why do I need them?

You need all parts to extract the entire thing.

They're not all the same.

how are they not the same if they literally say the same eps over and over?

how do I display the total time left in an album in cmus????

Is there an audio interface that I can record my bass with but can also take audio-in from my basic-ass 3.5mm jack clip on mic?

because of the cool pic I googled it for you, press "t" to toggle between elapsed time and time remaining, or set "set show_remaining_time=true" in your cmus rc file

Yes

Could you list some examples that represent good value for money please?

Not really, you didn't give enough info

Wait, you think you have 16 perfectly identical .rar files? Kek. That's the best thing I've heard all day.

I've never done anything like it, so I have no idea what they do. What's the difference in each one if all the eps are fine the way they are? Audio difference? Maybe something drawn different?

Something similar to the focusrite 2i2 only with a basic ass 3.5mm audio in as well. The XLR plugs won't power a cheap mic correctly.

I want to format windows 7 on a netbook and then sell it, but it runs really slow. I don't want someone to test it before buying and have it take 2 minutes to load a laggy youtube video. I've heard of a debloated image on this board. Does anyone have a link or any advice?

Dude, the contents of each of those files are entirely different. It's like someone made a zip of everything and broke it into 18 pieces.

BUT WHY? Why can't the guy that made it just piece them together or at least add a readme?

I'd format it to mint and say that it's suppose to run mint or something. I did the same thing and I sold it for 50

get a 6.35mm to 3.5mm jack adapter and then you can plug your bass directly into your pc using mic-in; it might sound like ass but mic-input's typically do on cheap gear (the mic will work fine on this port)

if you're going from bass > amp > pc you'll need to use line-in, however in this case you'll get something called "ground-buzz" where shared ground between the amp and the pc will cause interference, there's a few ways to solve this, the poor man and dangerous method is to insulate the ground pin on the amp so there's no shared ground, however the more acceptable method is to get a ground lift (sometimes called hum destroyers/removers/whatever) which has some passive resistors to remove the problem

as far as non-shit soundcards go I can't say but I was looking at a juli@ (pci) or a juli@ xte (pci-e) to record but I never bothered, a usb soundcard might do what you want but latency can be an issue if you plan to do anything other than record

>power a cheap mic
Your 1/8" mic doesn't need power, just amplification
A 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and sufficient gain should work

>BUT WHY? Why can't the guy that made it just piece them together or at least add a readme?

large archives are split into multiple smaller archives because of file upload limits on some shared hosts (or usenet), because of filesize limits on some filesystems like usenet, because it's generally easier to handle and distribute

almost all archive managers treat it as one large file, why do you care so much

Things tend to get broken down for easy distribution on the scene, and nobody cares enough to put them back together. There's no point including instructions for you because literally tens of thousands of different uploads all use this same format. You get all 18 or however many pieces, highlight them with 7zip and extract. It's not rocket science.

I need a laptop that comes with a cd burner and windows for burning some games for older consoles. Literally just looking for bare minimum specs, and can run windows since wine fucking hates all my disc drives. Recommend something cheap to me.

I just want to understand it for future understanding.

If it's a torrent, why would separating them be a thing?

I deleted them cause I saw the animation so I said fuck it. That looked really shit. Plus the quality was basically 240p. My eyes hurt.

>on some filesystems like usenet

derp, I mean on some filesystems like FAT

>highlight them with 7zip and extract

for the most part you only need to extract the first part (.part01.rar might be the second part)

>I didn't want it anyway

>If it's a torrent, why would separating them be a thing?

Because most things don't start out as torrents.

hey at least I wanted to understand something. I should get a cookie for trying right?

>If it's a torrent, why would separating them be a thing?

because torrent uploaders are very often not the rippers and they likely received the rip in parts and didn't want to unrar/rerar just for the sake of having one larger harder to distribute file

Yeah, but we're saying your whole "sour grapes" kick makes you sound like a 5 year old.

i can see that.

Normally if I upload a torrent, I try my best to be as useful as possible. I think "If I'm downloading this, how easy should it be?"

how were my grapes sour?

Yes

What type of script is this and how is it run on windows / linux

it's a batch file and you save it as .bat on windows and run it

to run it on linux you essentially have to rewrite it for bash

that's track time not total time left in the album, i know this is sqt but i'm not that retarded

Some people process torrents before uploading them, some people don't bother. The people who do this shit tend to upload a fuck ton of them, and there generally wouldn't be any version available if they didn't, so it's a question of how much time they care to invest on each one. You can always just not download it, or get a private tracker that emphasizes uncompressed downloads. Also I have a hard time believing that you've uploaded great and wonderful libraries of exclusive p2p content.

jesuschrist you're trolling wtf is a file split in many parts you idiot, just extract the first and the content of the others will come out

Sorry, legit dumb user.
I've never seen it before and don't know how it works.

but you have winrar...

that's not it user. I want to understand WHY it was a thing in the first place and why it had to be? I mean, I have Lupin the third 1,2,3 of 17 gbs and that anime is from the 17, so what do?

Doesn't mean he's encountered multipart archives before.

normally people do it because uploading a big file has risk of failure, however if you upload it in several parts and the upload fails you already have some parts uploaded

lets say im using the command netsh wlan show profile name=ESSID key=clear

is there a command that automatically replaces ESSID with the connected wifi of a computer?

Why the fuck do I get illegible captchas time after time after time in SeaMonkey but not in Opera?

I researched the best i7 in my budget, 4790k vs 6700k and the 4790k came out just ahead while being about $50 cheaper. That's about it

I could get a smaller PSU and a bigger SSD,

That case had some good reviews on Pcparpicker. Ideally i'd go with one that shows off the interior of the watercooling and LEDs.
I need alot of space for HDDs and maybe perhaps SLI in the future.

I'm not too keen on an i5, I don't mind dropping an extra $200 for a 10% power increase since it's going to be my main battlestation for at least a few years.

For cooling, literally anything. I definitely want to include the GPU in the loop, but I don't know where to start with either a custom loop or using a brand kit.

It seems I'm not able to seed What.CD or PTP torrents. Using Transmisssion on OS X. Don't know what's wrong. The settings are OK. Thoughts?

when I got my 5820k it was the same price as the 4790k but I think that was a pretty unusual price

I want to host a VPS server but I'm not sure which processor to buy.
How can I know how much power do I need?
Also, how much cores per VPS do I need?
If I buy pic related which has 8 cores, can I host 8 VPS with it?
Do I need a better processor or am I overkilling just for VPS?

You could always wait a couple weeks and go for kaby lake.

When I overclock my i7 via the frequency multiplier and manually increase the voltage, does it then still clock down and reduce voltage when idling?

Additional question: can I change the idle clock/voltage somewhere?

Depends on what the servers will be doing
If its something that doesn't require much cpu you can share cores.

There is a way to control multiple exceptions at the same time in PL/SQL?
For example, if I insert (10, 200) where 10 is primary key and 200 is unique, I want to resolve both exceptions.
I think this can be applied to any programming language in general.

For a USB charging cable, would I be safe to choose anything less than 1M?

Or could I still get something that barely charges at all?

Depends on how you configure it
You can disable speedstep and use constant voltage and it will run at max clock speed and voltage all the time
You can also use adaptive or offset voltage with speedstep enabled and it will adjust clock speeds and voltage according to demand.

It helps a lot, but there's still some room for shittyness. I'd recommend anker.

I've a folder with high school era photos/documents. Felt like nostalgiatripping, tried to open stuff, but *everything* inside was corrupted and would not open.

After some googling I had a look with a Hex editor, and the first line (unsure of terminology, see pic) of every file was blank - as opposed to say some other random file of the same format I'd stored elsewhere (which in this case would've immediately started with "II*").

Wrote a bash script, removed the first line of every file, and the corruption was gone.

Two questions:
1) What could have caused this? It applied to *all* files in the folder, and they've been sitting unused on my HDD for 4+ years.
2) The fix worked for all filetypes (zip, pdf, tif, odt, doc/x, etc.), *except* for Canon's cr2 image format, though the problem applies to them as well. Any tips on how to proceed with uncorrupting those?

Cheers!

/spg/ didn't answer me and /sqt/ is usually responsive. What is the best way to own a note 7 in the US? Am I forced to go the carrier route or will they release noncarrier version in US?

My guess is the file headers were corrupted. As to what caused it, I'm not sure. I haven't dealth with enough file corruption to actually notice what causes it.

If it's the file header, you could fix the files simply by restoring the header to it's original form (which is the same in most of the files of the same format), as it's just an identifier.

If it's any of the actual data, well, you're probably fucked.

They will be aimed mainly to web hosting.
I was planing that each VPS would have 1 core, 2 GB RAM and 100 GB HDD.
But I'm not sure on which processor to buy, or what should I search for, is the E5-2620 a good idea if I want to set 8 VPS' on it? Or do I need something more o something less?

>linux newfag...again
>ubuntu distro

Still unaware on how to make my WiFi dongle to work on my PC, some issue everytime I want the .exe the setup I get an error. I was told in deadthread that it was my drivers? Wat do?

Exe's do not work in linux. Just get over that idea. You need the driver filetype specific to your version of linux, and 9 times out of 10 you get it by using a tool in your distro, not by downloading anything with a browser.

What fluid? I think coke can corrode the circuits. Look for conductive ink or a new keyboard. If you like to tinker you can do it with thin pieces of aluminium foil

So what you're saying is the DVD that came with this dongle is basically chink shit to me? Should I take the dongle back or is there anyway around it to configure this dongle to my pc?

You can look up the chipset and then look for linux drivers for it
If you can't find any then its basically a paperweight

Sometimes they'll also include the linux drivers on the disk. Did you try connecting ethernet like I suggested before?

Thanks user, I'll do some more digging

Being the newfag that I am I forgot to do that, thanks I'll try it later this evening

Aight, I have a dumb question and this is dumb question thread, so here goes.
I've been looking for a case to house the new desktop I'm building, because I can't find the ones on pcpartpicker available retail and Internet purchases are impossible due to reasons. I read somewhere that as long as it matches the form factor listed on the PSU compatibility shouldn't be a problem with it, but I've found some cases that are listed as narrower than it (it's a length 33cm, width 30.7,height 43.1 monster). Do I ignore listed dimensions and check form factor or not?

Most likely conflicts are with the CPU cooler height or the GPU card length

Most mid towers won't have any issues but if you have a particularly tall cooler or a particularly long GPU then it might cause an issue on a smaller case.

I have a 50€ gift amazon card.
What can I buy to easy sell right away?
I just need the money to buy something in other site.
Some dr dre beats?

That's not actually a question.

How comfy are these temps?

So I guess that's a no? Why would they list the case as smaller than it is in that case, though?

I don't know what you're trying to ask

My HDD started clicking when running big things like WoW, so I'm gonna get a SSD for my OS and WoW. Is it still safe to use the old HDD for general storage that I don't really touch that much? It has only clicked once, but I'm guessing that's one too many times.

Are cases one-size-fits-all-PSU's-of-the-listed-form-factor, or do I actually need to measure their listed dimensions against my PSU?
Haven't been able to find many cases wider than 300mm, for example, while my PSU is 330mm wide.

Extremely Dumb Question:

i managed to crack ms office with kmspico but that reddit link is really helpful
thanks

but can you scrape and turn it into a spreadsheet?

also I'm not very good at learning how to program because I'm very bad at learning from the basis. I'm more of a googler kind of dude, and for programing it is extremely difficult to learn that way. I sort of want immediate results and I know for me to get those I'd have to learn python for like a month in order to grasp the basics.

>have a habit of keeping dozens of tabs open as a backlog

Goys, I've been doing it wrong all the time.

Also, is there some extension for chrome that would kill all the tabs at the startup of the browser (and preferably kill itself afterwards) so they would stay in the tabs bar?

Are there any decent non-compromised public trackers?

is there a chrome extension that can disable javascript for the website tab i am on instead of having to disable it through settings every time?

I need download manager that downloads files in chronological order. I asked here before but got no response.

>31/31/33/37C

You either didn't applied thermal paste or your cpu will die soon.

kind of, but then they'd have to deal with people sending in scanned documents that need OCR or oddities with fonts, and it can't look for headings/tables as easily, PDF isn't intended to be a machine readable format for anything other than printing.

how can I scrap web content after javascript is loaded? in chrome when i click inspect item i can see more source then with getsourcecode
so how do I does that?

I recently started noticing a slight ringing noise whenever i move my mouse. Sounds kinda like a telegraph machine. My speakers are turned off so not coming from them. Its a wired mouse and I tried different usb locations, didn't help. I guess its some sort of psu or electrical interference, idk

Can enabling this option cause any damage to speakers/headphones?

Can't you just set it to ask me everytime?
Otherwise you can just use noscript and just use a blacklist instead of a whitelist

My course requires us to use Virtual Machine and get linux for our C++ module. However, the lecturer already prepared a custom virtual machine with the necessary tools we need like g++. However, I'd like to get Arch for all those cool ricing people do in other threads. Would it be wise to also get another 64 bit arch on top of that or just try rice win 8.1

>Can enabling this option cause any damage to speakers/headphones?

>downloads files in chronological order
Maybe if you explained yourself decently.
What files from what website?

That's pretty much exactly what I'm doing lol. I'm using BeautifulSoup to scrape pages and the openpyxl library to selectively store info from the page into a spreadsheet.

It's not very complicated or anything. It's actually quite simple as long as you know some basic programming (like variables and loops) and you can easily learn everything through Googling

I personally had zero prior exposure to Python (though I do know Java) before I started this scraping project, and I was able to use Google to learn how to use those libraries and have a basic version of the scraper up and running in like a day.

Did you try a different mouse?
Even better if you can try both a wired an a wireless one

your speakers will start radiating mustard gas

i have to download rar files from google drive. Stuff like this docs.google.com/uc?export=download&confirm=TojZ&id=0B6eDXiR4F9sOQ1FHcGFmWFh1bEE
I have used free internet downloader but it downloads newest files first.
Here's example. I download file n1 then n2 and n3. So manager downloads file n1 and then starts downloading file n3. I want it do download files chronologically, which means oldest task first.

Guys, i started learning Win Server 2012 few days ago (i know, i know, but there's a reason for it, i'll get a job if i pass MCSA). This is first time for me to face server world and i'm kinda puzzled.

1. I noticed File sharing aka file server is installed by default. If i do not create Domain Controller and Active directory how do i make users see this shared folder?

2. Are there some good practices when organizing server environment for companies, i think there shouldn't be one machine acting as all servers needed in a company, but is that always the case?

3. Mail server. Does MS really force people to buy Exchange server also next to Win server and do companies really use that over gmail and other shitty public email clients?

I don't think unless you try to blast 120 dB trough some 10 dollars chinese speakers

You mean as a host or as a virtual machine to install the tools on?
First one depends if the virtual machine program is stable enough on arch to consider it,
Second one is pure autism and you should really study instead of worrying about ricing a machine you'll take to lectures

Ye, i don't think it's really doable unless you write a script yourself to feed command lines to download files to

I am from germany and afraid to get cucked by my provider while i torrent shit... i thoght about getting a seedbox..

Which one should i get? (Was thinking about what.cd)

Not so savvy in terms of those kind of things. Also fair enough but it's my only laptop, i planned to rice it a while ago just to make it look nicer for personal use desu.

Another question if anyone could answer but whats the best recommended c++ book?

If i have 2 pcs in one room and i want them to share files i would put them in a workgroup, but what should i do if i have couple of pcs on different wan links, how do i create shared folder with those pcs?

what.cd is not a seedbox. It's a private tracker.

Based on my budget and power needs, I'm looking at either a

Dropbox/Onedrive?
I think either one have a decent compatibility with windows explorer, if i understood you correctly your pc's are not under the same network.

1. I want to reinstall my windows 7, but i heard that MS released some shitty updates that brings botnet same as win 10 to win 7.
What updates do i need to avoid when installing win 7?

2. Previously when reinstalled windows before i install updates - windows is super fast, after all updates and million of reboots - windows takes shitload of time to open a folder. Why?

3. Can you guys post guide to debloat win7? I head it comes with shitload of useless resource-consuming bullshit.

That was my best guess, i just had to make sure

2 is too low definitely. GGDR5 is a meme tho.
Best setup would be 4 to 6 gb of RAM GDDR3 or 4 plus the 950M
If you only have those 2 choices get the first one, it's better to run at least some games at shittier FPS than not having enough ram to play literally anything, it's a waste of a decent GPU to put it in anything with only 2GB of RAM, windows 7 takes at least 1 of that alone

Why the fuck is the Nvida 10xx Series so fucking problematic? Is my shit too outdated or something?

Are you saying the 950 M, plus 4gb RAM on my motherboard, or in the card? Because I currently have 8gb DDR3 just on my computer.

Service pack 1 is enough, SP2 is where they put the botnet.
You could do but i can't vouch with what the guy did or how legitimate he is.

I'm a fucking idiot and didn't notice you meant 2gb of VRAM and not RAM
Considering that you'll be gaming on a laptop i'd say the 950M is the better choice now that we cleared that up, you may have problems playing games with super huge textures or that are shittily optimized to use less VRAM tho

Aegis is no longer maintained. Do i need to manually deselect the updates?
I'm too paranoid to download anything from public trackers. Especially OS

The wiki section on updates links to this page:
techne.alaya.net/?p=12499
Which goes into more detail and includes a .bat file to automate it. I just did the batch on my win7 machine, seems to have worked.

>I'm too paranoid to download anything from public trackers

then dl it from my digital life, murphy also posted it there

Especially OS.

How can I tell if a desktop monitor is a matte display? What do I look for in terms of coating?

hey Cred Forumsuys
i've been using powerline for some time, now i just ran some command with nohup, and now i got this orange 1 on the prompt (i can just reopen the terminal, to make this disappear, of course)
cant really figure out what this means, somebody here knows?

It's just a fancy name. SP1 works wonderfully anyway.

Also, what sort of side projects look good on a resume?

How about you post the command you ran?
This is pure speculation but i think it tell you if you are inside a nested terminal and how many layers are you in.

Oh, I thought M stood for mini. My bad!

nohup /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon --replace &
(It restarts gnome-settings-daemon, because for some reason it eats up memory, didn't have the chance to report the memleak yet because not sure how, nohup is because the restart command takes the terminal, and if you close it, you crash the whole gnome-shell)

Pls respond

I just bought a thinkpad :DD

who cares

I can't tell what kind of laptop RAM this is, whether its 200 or 204-pin sodimm. Does anyone know just by looking at it? I think its ddr3 but its labeled "dd3" retardedly

If you still have the torrented files do a force recheck on the torrent

Nah, my bad really, you specified mini 2 lines above that, i just got fixated on the second part of your post.
I'm not even that knowlegable about GPU and CPU model naming systems outside recent nvidia because the last models follow a very simple pattern.

Should I retorrent it, then force a recheck?

>It's just a fancy name

A service pack is something specific. It's a prerequisite for other things. You can't replace SP1 with it's individual updates, and there's no advantage to installing the convenience rollup over whatever individual post SP1 updates you want. There's also no programs that will refuse to work without it.

I mean, it doesn't really matter in the context of what that user is doing.
I also vividly remember them calling a service pack but i could be mistaken

Nice, you are correct, it is the amount of background tasks, thanks :)
btw, do you have any clue on how/where should i report the memory leak? pic related, this really doesn't look ok to me
i already noticed that it only happens when i'm on my external monitors - when i just use the laptop (without additional monitors) it doesn't happen

I'm not really much into bugfixing and reporting, but i think the github for either the OS or gnome would be the most appropriate place.
But i think other anons are more expert than me on the matter, i very rarely update and when i do it's only for features, even more sparingly for security unless it's something huge

Thanks anyway!
Any other anons can halp on this one?

>tfw I just realized I could kill them all in the task manager and they would stay in the tabs bar without consuming resources.

I need a VPN for the next month or so Cred Forums.
Is ExpressVPN Cred Forums approved?

You are, but it actually vaguely contributes to your point. If it was an actual service pack, there would be a much bigger case for installing it.

It will probably be able to see the contents of your file/network shares, but otherwise no.

No.
Just learn how to GPU passthrough.
Also why is that other shit relevant? learn how to ask questions.
>can windows spy on host from within a VM?

Ye, i see now that it's not technically a SP, i'd wager it's because so shittily developed programs don't freak out when they don't find that SP1 it's not the most recent SP.

New Thread

The prevailing theory is that it's more about microsoft not wanting to make the windows install process too easy or give the impression that they are really still supporting windows 7. Also a service pack implies a longer period of official support.

I had the same problem with Geforce Experience with my Titan, for some reason if I tried to install the driver through the program it didn't work. But when I downloaded it through the nvidia update driver website it worked.

I want them for sports betting. Soccer to be exact. but not only scrapping, I want to be able to compare teams against other teams using statistics, so it's important to have a good structure of csvs otherwise you're just storing info

Okay I have a computer with an internet access.

Computer - Switch - Router - Internet
No problem.

I have another Computer that I want to add to a seperate network.
Figured it was just as easy to plug them a network cable between them, but that wasn't the case.
They both find the network, but it is unidentified and as far as I've seen I haven't been able to change that.
Is there an easy way to force the computers to recognize eachother?
