how do I get this in Windows lol

You don't have a dick. Thus you can't get its size

REEEEEEEE NORMIES GET OFF MY BOARD

nigga how the fuck does it take that long

Startup finished in 3.000s (kernel) + 5.598s (initrd) + 1min 5.174s (userspace) = 1min 13.773s

shit hard disc, its a little bit failing already

>Startup finished in 1.398s (kernel) + 1.374s (initrd) + 1.066s (userspace) = 3.839s

systemd 231

Open task manager, go to the startup tab and check your bios time (w10)

126.701...
I-I'm still a big boy, r-right??

I can live with this.

Startup finished in 890ms (kernel) + 794ms (userspace) = 1.684s

Debian 8, GNOME

>tfw your startup is half BIOS loadtime
do newer laptops fix this?

>Startup finished in 2.110s (kernel) + 1.093s (userspace) = 3.204s
Breddy gud.

win10 5.8

...

what is your cpu ?

I would like to see what archkiddies have to say about that. Could it be that their minimalist lightweight expert distro was beaten by a bloated turd with noob-friendly desktop?

No SSD I guess.

Startup finished in 3.922s (kernel) + 2.603s (userspace) = 6.525s
YOLO!

None of you have EFI? The majority of the startup time is firmware for me.

...

I'm using EFI see:

Why don't you dumb asses post specs

What cpu and SSD you have will make all the difference in the world.

Mine is a thinkpad T420. So there isn't much for it to do.

If my desktop were running linux it would take a decent bit longer despite having a faster SSD.

How do I interpret this? It says 44s but it barely takes a second from grub to the login screen.

Here you go

...

Not as much as unused services.

Why don't you post your boot time?

What mobo do you have? Any BIOS tweaking for boot performance?

so what the fuck do update-db and mandb actually do
they're taking up most of my startup time

I did:

No idea(laptop here) and no tweaks at all, firmware adds 1.2 secs to my boot time and I don't really care that much

Startup finished in 11.831s (kernel) + 2.113s (userspace) = 13.945s
takes me 10 seconds to type my encryption key I guess

man updatedb and man mandb will answer your question

Fuck me :^(

that's great, now why the fuck is it slowing boot? It doesn't need to run my filesystem every time I boot.

why do you have such a small font?

or is your monitor just really small?

try i3

Wew.

ITT: people who don't use fulldisk encryption

Quite impressive for a Core2Duo laptop with SATA 2

I don't have anything to hide so why should I use it?

Nice dick I have.
Also, fucking man, nobody use it anyways!

Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say

that's what i tell people when they don't want to wear my hats made of tinfoil.

>lincucks unironically use linux on their everyday machine
So this is the visible form of mental autism. Wow.

>scrot and badly cropped
You do know that scrot -u automatically crops to the active window, no?

T410 with an i5 M560 and MX100 256gb

...

hahahah yeah you think so noobuntu but REAL linux users crop things themselves so they can REALLY learn how linux works

What's wrong with using steam?
What's wrong with having actual real friends that you keep contact with and occasionally play gaymes on steam? Is that a bad thing according to you?
In that case I think you're a little kid who recently decided to "be mature" and stop gayming. Plus you're insecure and stupid if you fell for linux meme just to feel better than others.

:(

Sorry im not a faggot.

rip

what typeface is this

Can't divide by zero. I'm sorry for your loss user.

Takes 20 seconds for firmware and about 5 for the rest. It's so painful how bad ASRock BIOS is.

Too strong encryption much?

There ya go paste.teknik.io/Simple/Da7hb

no, about volumes have about 700 GB each

Startup finished in 8.534s (kernel) + 34.575s (userspace) = 43.110s

I just like small fonts.
I've been used to a small bitmap font before and I wanted to feel the same.

Monitor is a 14" but it's fine.

I'm trying KDE right now (hence the qterminal), but I use openbox most of the time, I don't work or do anything particular on my computer so i3 would much more useful.

...

Feels bad man, I wish I had an SSD.

every volume*
also, every passphrase is at least 30 characters long (numbers, upper- and lowercase, special signs)

I do have an SSD

wtf

ikr, idk what takes it so long to do that, like I can log in and do things, but apparently it is still booting something up.

Looks like SSD is the major factor.

My HDD is the shittiest part of my PC.

What ThinkPad?

you can safely disable the networkmanager-wait-online service and the modemmanager service (if you dont use it ofc, i bet you dont) also something more but i dont care enough to look into that.

>Startup finished in 10.265s (kernel) + 36.464s (userspace) = 46.729s

whats the best time anyone got on a 7200rpm HDD? i got 8~9 seconds on Debian, WD Caviar Blue

>4.1s
>mfw my shitty windows laptop has a faster boot time than a lot of these linux desktops

thats simply not adequate to either systemd-analyze or windows 10 boot time. i waited 1 miute 53s for it to get to the desktop and this is what it shows me. Not to mention that i waited longer than 15 seconds on the desktop to open the task manager. Yes my hhd is old but ubuntu gets around 20 sec.

Startup finished in 1.504s (kernel) + 884ms (userspace) = 2.388s

Debian 8 + Mate

you're thinking of the people making fun of arch users (by "pretending" to be retards)

arch users know arch is not lightweight

"bootup" means starting everything that is part of your run level

there's nothing to say things like being able to login and start other things has to be the last thing

...

This shows 36 seconds as my boot time but I know it's way faster than that. I don't know how else to do it on Windows.

did you seriously use a calculator to convert milliseconds into seconds?

I also use my fingers to count, have a problem?

>rebooting

>startup
lol

...

Thanks for clearing that up :)

Lol that's awesome dude :)

...

how big's the RAID?

Dont have a raid.
Single SSD

then multi-CPU?

I'm kind of surprised that there aren't more people with EFI.

>2/3rds of my boot time is EFI.
:(

nope

It just random does this shit sometimes

Hello this is my startup time

opps sorry wrong one

you are still the top gay of this board, user. that screenshot is so fucking gay

im normal actually

she's not gay she's a lesbian

Lesbians are gay.

boys are gay, girls are lesbian

Gay means homosexual. It's more often used to describe faggots than lesbians but applies to both.
