"Slow" SSD write speed

>Be Samsung
>Rate your SSD's sequential write at 520 GB/s
>Actual Speeds are no where near that
What the fuck am I missing here? Did I fall for a SSD meme or what Cred Forums ?

Also, whats the deal with RAPID mode?
From what I can see it can provide a bump in performance for SATA 2 but not SATA 3? And that it's sketch to do and can cause your data to be corrupted from unexpected system shutdowns?

>750 Evo
Found your problem.

Do a TRIM or something.

>520 GB/s
That's amazing, it's on HBM territory. I guess your RAM is limiting you. Boy, have SSDs gotten fast.

Can't remember which model but some Samsung SSDs need a firmware update for speed fixes

Also advertised speeds are recorded under absolutely ideal conditions

The rated speed is for the turbocache section, about 3 or 6 GB. After that, these shitty small TLC planar drives drop to around that speed.

You'd have known this if you bothered to look at any review.

>2016
>not using a 950 pro m.2 or intel 750 series u.2 nvme ssd
>tfw I have one of each

...

Speeds slow down the more you fill it up. If you only have a few GB free it will run around two thirds the speed or worse. We were lied to.

Since this is an ssd thread.
I set up a cron job to run the trim command every week.
Is that enough or should it be daily?
Debian btw

Have you aligned your partitions correctly?

Because my 850 EVO speeds were fucked before I aligned them.
Fire up AS SSD and see if the text in the upper left corner reads green or red.
If it's red, the partitions need to be aligned.

Works for me :)

It's MB/s.

...

...

>THEY FELL FOR THE SAMSHIT SSD MEME

Where?

The green text in these above the "Seq"
If it's red, then your partition alignment is fucked.

>2016
>not using Samsung 960 pro M2 or Intel 600p M2 NVME SSD
>tfw I have one of each

>start that AS SSD benchmark on my WD mechanical drive just for shits and giggles
>taking ~5 minutes for 4K write alone

Post some 960 speeds.
I want that beast in action.

He doesn't have one of each.

You're doing something wrong I guess. I got speeds that low when I forgot to connect the CPU fan and it throttled down to 750MHz. I'm surprised it survived at all by the way. Pic related, a year old m.2 850 evo.
It's fucking useless in real life, try copying a file.

slapped an 850 in my notebook

it went from taking 1-2 minutes to boot to 5 seconds

firefox starts in 3 seconds rather than 30

X starts in a second rather than 10

pretty worth it to be honest

>random write speeds

is this because I have it encrypted?

kek

It doesn't release until October, unless he's got some review build but I haven't even heard of reviewers getting them yet.

Maybe the 600p
It's actually quite inexpensive

>tfw Samsung 840 Pro and Samsung 830 Pro on Sata II ports

750 evo just werks at full speed for me

>tfw I bought this 850 EVO Basic for 140 bucks

>he got an evo instead of a pro
