MP3 or Ogg Cred Forums?

MP3 or Ogg Cred Forums?

ogg, goes up to 500kbps which satisfies my autism

Opus

FLAC.

FLAC, or you're a subhuman

FLAC is literally retarded.

hanako is my wife

WAV.

Opus for lossy
Flac for lossless
everything else is shit

MP3 unless you have to worry about patents.

this

Ogg.

>wifing a bacon crisp

This. I only fall back to Vorbis if I come across something which can't play Opus files.

Opus is only really performant on the lowest end of the bitrates. It deprecates speex, not vorbis.
>This is an example of Speex

That is what Opus was originally designed for, but it ended up being basically better than every codec, except for extremely low bitrates (

ogg obviously, why is this even a thread

AAC
eat my shit

Well how bout that, no wonder youtube is switching to exclusively opus (outside DASH) audio streams. They're probly shitting on bitrate anyway as they do.

who let the mac fag in

this senpaitachi

Found the blindcuck

muh android plays flac as easilly as 500kbs ogg.

>ogg
I prefer oga

Opus if you can.
Vorbis if you can't.
MP3 if you really, really can't.

If you aren't space poor, anything other than MP3 is fine though at a reasonable bitrate (with FLAC being most ideal).

>500kbps
Might as well flac at that point.

MP3 is only patent encumbered in the USA at this point.
Even then, it's very close to be patent free.

It's untestedly patent-free in the US, there are libre encoders written which have not yet been sued over it.

Then again MPEG-LA could probly find something to sue ANYONE over if they felt the need.

flac goes without saying for archiving

as does mine, storage space is a different question

>Might as well flac at that point.
I think it saves at least 40% the storage space on my phone (don't know exactly how much) and sounds the same to my ears

torrent or rip cd's to flac on you're 1tb desktop.
make cd's from flac.
transcode to opus for you're laptop with decent speekers.
transcode to 320k mp3s for you're android / earbuds
transcode to 128k mp3 for you're 16g sdcard fone.

>this thread

ogg for the reason of my freedom; mp3 still isn't free in some contries. When they have the bitrates over 128kbps, I can't distinguish their sound qualities.

Which format Spotify uses?

and besides, ogg has small size on same bitrates.

Depending on what you are encoding (and the parameters), flac typically floats between 400-900kbps.

If you are using vorbis at 192k, fair enough, but 500k is placebo-might-as-well-use-flac tier.

>transcode to 320k mp3s for you're android / earbuds
>transcode to 128k mp3 for you're 16g sdcard fone.
Why the fuck would you do that? Android supports Opus, you know.
There is seriously no good reason to use MP3.

>TFW you use WMA losless

I liked Lily's arc the best but hanako is still a best.

Seriously, unless you have some ancient hardware player there's zero reasons to use MP3 in 2016.

opus, but if I have to choose then OGG

FLAC

>tfw I rip all my albums in PCM to feel superior to flac listeners

MP3 is actually an audio specification, Ogg is just a container so, you need to do better next time, OP. Vorbis is more than likely what you actually meant, but Opus is superior nowadays over everything else out there in the lossless arena.

>Not listening to your music perfectly like youtube intended.
