That's the most common. Each couple has his own pet names. Mon chat, doudou, etc. My gf sometimes calls me "Nounours", teddy bear, because I'm a fat hairy bastard.

Also I've never heard girls calling their bf or husband any equivalent of "Daddy", like apparently Americans and Hispanics and maybe others do.

Sometimes old men call their wives Maria as a joke, since that's the stereotypical housewife name. Old women go for Manel, but that's less common.
