Cynicism is cheap. Most Australians value our bilateral/military relations with the US far above our necessary economic entanglement with China. Of course our politicians play both sides a little, but at the end of the day we are not friends with China in any sense of the word.

He got into office by promising to wipe out drug traffickers by any means necessary and so far he's delivering, even if it does mean hundreds of bodies mysteriously piling up in the streets. That's enough to keep him popular, but eventually he'll have to take on the full set of responsibilities his office demands, and he's not remotely prepared for it. I don't expect his presidency to end well.

Have you travelled outside of Asia before? I honestly did not see one the entire time I was there, I only realised it halfway through. Also the tiny amount of green spaces you have there seemed to be fenced off and only for looking. It was extremely different to my city.

I believe that it was a huge mistake not to have integrated Russia into the Western fold after the collapse of the USSR, one that will be biting America and it's allies on the ass for years to come. I think USA has always worried about Germany and Russia settling their differences and uniting against them because together they would be almost unstoppable, so it's often undermined attempts to form lasting bilateral relations between the NATO members and Russia.
