Historically Detroit-tier outside of the Capitol area and Georgetown, but it's been gentrifying lately. Maybe try to be the UK's ambassador to America lol.
Surely you have played Fallout 3.

Sorry I'm a girl
My bad.
Why do yuropoors think overcrowded, small old buildings are comfy.
Pic related is my dream
i dont believe youve actually lived there because of your use of the word "historically" vaguely
nice row houses in eastern dc
midtown is small for a city but nice
across the river to the west is pretty meh
south east across the river is where all the black people live for free
Because they look lovely
Like half of it is ghetto shit and the other half is overly pretty but impractically designed expensive police state.
Buddy of mine who lives in DC says he regularly sees military snipers just hanging out on rooftops. Waves to 'em sometimes.
I live in Columbia Heights. It's a mixed bag of gentrified homes and businesses, public housing, and working class Latinos. It's a lot safer than it used to be.
Looks like a typical Finnish house for around €150k
Nice to look at, horrible to get around in if you have to go more than a few blocks. If you want to live there bring money, lots and lots of money
It has ups and downs.
I live in DC.
Lots of great architecture. Large areas are walkable and you dont need a car at all. Lots of bars and resturants. Resturants are good but not great, most of them that is. City is expensive, both rent and going out.
Public transit is pretty good, even with all the shit with metro. Driving in DC sucks, and parking is worse. Lots of annoying tourist. Actual residents are either pretty physical fit and educated/smart or ghetto. Weed is legal and you can get it brought to your house.
Lots of high paying jobs.
Overall a pretty good city. For America it is god-tier city but that is due to most American cities being sprawly suburban shitholes.
reply if you want to know more or have more specific questions.
Cities is massively gentrified, even former bad areas. Only Detroit areas is Anacostia, which has no reason to gentrify.
Much of DC has nice rowhomes not just Eastern DC. The nicest row homes are probably in Mt Pleasant.
Maybe 20% is ghetto now. Only really bad area is across the Anacostia river.
DC you have more freedom than most areas. Cops dont give a fuck about stuff that would get you arrested in other states, which can be good or bad. If you want to walk around on drugs cops wont care. If you want to buy drugs cops wont care. The downside is they dont care about actual criminals committing real crimes and often ignore it or catch and release them. It is only a police state if you have a gun and or bent on causing public mayhem or terrorism, which isnt downsie.
DC is expensive for US, but not that expensive compared to many European/Australian/etc cities. Furthermore the reason it is expensive is because there are lots of high paying jobs. Making $100,000 a year in DC is not impressive. Service job people may suffer and the locals may be gentrified out, but the increasing population of yuppies has no problem affording the city.
Blue areas are probably full of crime.
Not comfy
t. Georgetown University
I have a house like this. Brown fence though
But that's small and overcrowded.
>House rep can't even vote
Not most of the blue areas. Where it says Southwest Washington on the map along the river up to where it says Maryland/District of Columbia is where most of the murders/rapes are.
DC has biggest black middle class in the US, so much of those areas isnt that bad. It can be transitional meaning a large area is mostly good, but a small pocket, often caused by Public housing causes crime to spike.
Washington DC is pretty nice, I live just across the Potomac River in Virginia. But it's a beautiful city, lots of interesting places to see and things to do.
