But seriously, I actually think the problem is that there wasn't enough white immigrants. Or more specifically, industrial colonists. America had the Northeast that was basically European in character and almost so in development. The whites there had economic capital. Slaves don't have economic capital. Later white immigrants don't count because they didn't bring capital, they were poor.

But there are also other aspects, specifically ideology. USA was a nation before it was a state, and when the state was born did it accompany a classical liberal ideology. Combine that with a constitution with clear vision and great founding fathers, you've got a pretty good nations.
