It doesn't really matter if it was bad or not. There's plenty of tanks that had fatal flaws, some which barely even finished being constructed before being destroyed/captured, and they're still preserved. Are you upset about those tanks too?

Just the way they portrayed the BT-42 is not really that accurate. Yes it was fast, but that was it's one positive really.

Of course, designing a tank with the idea that it simply will somehow be invulnerable is a horrible idea.
It weighed over 200 tons, was EXTREMELY slow even by tank standards at the time, it was huge and expensive to produce, and it guzzled gas like no tomorrow. Only one turret and hull were completed before the factories producing them were bombed and the Soviets captured the two and put them in a museum.
If they would have ever seen combat, they would simply have been obliterated by air raids.

The museum of military history in Vienna has a T-34 in driving and firing condition. They always show it off during holidays and such. Damn those old engines produce a lot of exhaust and stink up the whole area. I'm sure driving those things wasn't fun either because of the noise and the engine heat.
