Does anyone know of any female vocalists similar to Ringo Sheena, Mariko Goto and/or Seiko Oomori?
cruyff in the bedroom and tokyo shoegazer
keiji haino and kan mikami should make more albums together
Jun Togawa of course
If this album was all like that song where she yells a bit, it'd be amazing
Does anyone know where I can get this/does anyone have a mega of it? Right now I'm listening to the not-live version of it
Yeah I gotta check out both her and YUKI.
Japan seems to have a pretty huge shoegaze scene
I've heard that's not actually the case. And that at the second biggest shoegaze gig of the year there were only about 50 people.
rec me some japanese indie pop pls
I guess it's like stoner rock where it gets mass produced but no one really gives a shit except for a select few artists.
one of the best US 90s Indie bands
youtube.com
jun togawa is my goddess
Anyone got anymore japnoise albums to listen to?

Found it through that one AFX track and was in lover eversince
tooke me also quite long to find them, instantly liked them, aggressive telecasters and jazzmasters never sounded so good
Same here man. The fact that they most likely influenced a lot of bands I really enjoy probably helps.
found this CD the other day. pretty good experimental pop. trip-hop influences?
shoegaze is like that everywhere
>ringo sheena
...
does anyone have a link to that pink chart that has all the recs on it?
i got u senpai
shit chart except ging nang boyz
sweet, thanks. Are these compiled in a mega or something?
What is Sibuya-Kei?
Can anyone recommend some good 80's city pop like After 5 Clash?
Are the rest of the Pillows albums any good apart from what features on FLCL soundtrack?
Look it up.
Probably my favourite Japanese album, and my favourite Japanese band. I like Cornelius, but I prefer his previous work much more.
What's the best YMO solo album? I'm putting my vote towards pic related.
>mikgazer

I heard recently or read somewhere that this was getting a vinyl repress. Can anyone confirm? Need this in my collection

Either this or the fuckin Hosono album with the weird drawing on it. It is BETTer than Hosono House and no one can convince me otherwise.
Hey lads, been enjoying the classic Fishmans meme, which led me to YYTeiko and then to Shintaro Sakamoto himself, who I've gone in deep on. Where to go from here?
I think its fair to say that they are not quite as good or influential as Eno, Bowie, The Beatles, King Crimson and VU but they are great. People say that YMO is the poor's man Kraftwerk but these same people have likely not listened to anything other than Solid State Survivor. People will also be afraid ot saying they are at this high level and day thdy are overrated but the truth is plain and simple, YMO, Sakamoto and Hosono are both worldwide level and their music influence was all over the globe. And this is why even in a list with Kraftwerk, MJ, Pink Floyd and others they will come out clean on top. Haters gonna hate
Can someone recommend me similar musician like pic related beside The Avalanches?? Its so damn comfy and makes me extremely happy everytime i listen to it..
I think the studio version of Long Season is better desupai
Cornelius - Fantasma
I don't think making a list of music by country is accurate, because a country isn't a music style. But I think this one is useful to give people an alternative chart
Pic related. 1/3
Japan is a country not a genre you retard. Quit making this fucking thread.
Its pretty entry level
2/3
That looks like a nice list, but do you have titles? I mean one of the album covers is all black
Thanks user
And 3/3
I think this answers OP. Again it's just an entry level guide. Peace
>Live at 1st Year of Heisei Vol. 1
>Album by Kan Mikami, Keiji Haino, and Motoharu Yoshizawa.
I don't know where he got that picture of the cover. On mine you can clearly make out the characters 不失者
dude, I fucking love ex-girl
every day, I wonder why Cred Forums isn't fawning over ex-girl the way they like doopees or shinseikamattechan
Can anyone recommend any "denpa" that isn't actually denpa?
Pic related
...
that's absolutely not denpa
does the Midori vocalist even play the guitar?

Where i can find album with this song?
This is super dope. Thanks user. Do you have a link for this album?
you could try jpopsuki or soulseek
desu I've only heard that song and one of her older releases
Thank you.
I got it from itunes :D
As someone who worships Yura Yura Teikoku, the album "Remix 2005 - 2008" has some *great* stuff on it. The take on Nantonaku Yume wo is insane. It's a hard album to find though...!
I've been listening to Sakanaction a lot lately. I like the way they blend electropop and alternative rock so well. I haven't really found anything else like it in Japanese music or Western music.
I've been binging on Boredoms' lately.
Pop Tatari>=Wow 2>Vision Creation Newsun Boadrum>Super Roots 5>Super Roots 7>=Super Roots 3>=Seadrum/House Of Sun>Super ar>Super Roots>Super Roots 2
Bordoms and hanatarash
other than Mass Fermenting Dregs, the only artist from Japan i've listen to is this one youtu.be
I've been listening to her all day
This an pulse demon are the biggest noise memes ever.
This has got to be my favorite jap song
this a damn fine tune, tnx user
What's the Decryption key?

youtube.com
Fuck the pillows are great
yo im so fuckin PUmped for the new frederic album in october aaaauuugh
holy kek, why is she so based
love tujiko, check out her collab with Aoki Takamasa "28"
Been listening to some Uchu Conbini lately.
I think I prefer Feel the Dyeing Note to Looking at the Moon's Reflection, but I'll probably need to listen to them both again before making any definite conclusions.
I need a link for this one, it seems to be lost at the moment for some reason
I like it, but I feel like they're encroaching on what Midori already did years ago
What does /japanese/ think of the Ging Nang Boyz?
I love Naughty Boys
Yes, i love Kimi ni mune kyun.
Sue me
>tfw no more galileo galilei ever
why live
youtube.com
youtube.com
Anything similar two these two tracks. Why kinoku teikoku's other song sound somewhat similar, the rest of straightner's songs don't really capture the feel that that this one does.
is shinichi osawa any good?
I've still not been able to find this album.
If I wanted to get into Midori, where should I start? The one with the naked anime babe on the cover, right?
Could you please up your copy on MEGA? I'd forever be indebted to your favor.
Lamp - Yume
Really liked it
Why do people care about Japanese music? Sure there are some good artists from Japan, but only Japanese traditional music and court music is only really specifically very japanese (but sounds pretty similar to the traditional/court music of elsewhere in the orient). Bands mentioned ITT are basically just playing western musical styles while being Japanese, an attribute that adds nothing in itself to music. I can only assume this obsession with what would be otherwise mediocre rock and jazz music is because this board is filled with weeaboos.
I'll bite, I'm up at 2am. Please find me a western album exactly like Vision Creation Newsun. Please find me a western song exactly like Cory & The Mandara Suicide Pyramid Action Or Gas Satori.
Why do you make unreasonable requests? Of course I'm not going to find something *exactly* like any song. But I think the point I was trying to make was people listen to lots of mediocre music like Tokyo Shoegazer and Ryo Fukui because it's Japanese. I wouldn't count Boredoms as in that group of mediocre music, they are pretty good and would be popular here if they didn't come from Japan. Of course Boredoms' influences are in western music: Faust, Neu!, Cluster, Frank Zappa, Can, Helios Creed, Butthole Surfers, Dinosaur Jr, and others.
>Why do you make unreasonable requests? Of course I'm not going to find something *exactly* like any song
That's why I care about certain japanese music besides Boredoms. We're done I think.
you sound pretty cranky, you should probably go to bed now.
>because it's Japanese
But that's not why I listen. I just happen to find a band that sings in another language. It happens to be Japanese. It's all coincidence.
>I don't listen to Thai, Greek, Italian, Laotian, Korean, Mexican, the list goes on and on... music
>literally all the music I listen to is Japanese at a probability of (japanese population/world population)^(number of artists in my library)
>I don't listen to Thai, Greek, Italian, Laotian, Korean, Mexican, the list goes on and on... music
pleb.
Not him, but I found it in on of the archives;

Oh yeah, any news on the LITE and Mouse on the Keys split EP?
Pretty excited for their new album.

>tfw only japanese releases I've listened to this year are utaites
It's in the archive, under the english name: tamate hatsumi - cell
Winding down my listen of Chocolate Synthesizer. Why is this album so loved? It's a weaker version of the things Pop Tatari accomplished.
youtube.com
one of the best live sets i've seen
Anybody want to tell me about some cool Japanese rock, metal, or vaporwave ish stuff from the 80s?
>tfw especia loses its vaporwave + idol aesthetic for chill electro-pop
I know I'm late about this, but I'm torn about how I should feel. I loved their old stuff, but this is good too.

Sadly, Babymetal is better than half of the bands mentioned in this thread lol
>implying Dir en grey isn't pleb
Everyone that has ever got into japanese music has at least heard of them you dip. Their last single sucked anyway.
Me too. I think they consistently make good stuff. I hope they are able to do a world tour sometime.
The chorus was still pretty great though, but yeah, weaker than anything on the last album, last album was 10/10 though
not true btw, Cred Forumsfags only listen to shoegaze
I agree the chorus was good, but it wasn't enough to carry the rest of that mess of a song. I agree about the last album being 10/10. I personally think it's their best.
I guess I was wrong then, but I known13 year old girls that have even heard Dir en grey.
>I personally think it's their best.
Not even sure about that, their last 3 albums have been honestly amazing
They have a tendency to release the weakest tracks as singles for some reason
Just different demographics, most certainly because of their vk stage but they had made some really weird choices throughout their career that are unheard of in other bands, I think they reach a very wide audience because of that
upboated
why even listen to other music when you can listen to Tousei on repeat for the rest of your life
I like Uzi ni Naru better desu
Anyone know where I could find some Jun togawa shit?
Can someone help me out and list out the titles of these. I've listened to most of these but I wanna check out the others
then check out Linda Linda Linda, the movie, for the comfiest nipkino
