Is there a pianist who can help me out with the fingering of this part? I'm now at the first bar shown (Excerpt from Buxtehude's "Nimm von uns, Herr, du treuer Gott" [Buxwv 207]).
I can't play that middle voice entirely with my right hand, nor does merely using the left hand seem successful. What would you do?

I have listened (and loved) Beethoven symphonies, piano sonatas and late quartets. Where should i go next, if i wanna keep going with him? Can you also rec an interpreter/registration?
Gavin Robinson
You've listened to his best work; here is a few pieces you didn't mention:
Piano Trio 7 in B-flat Major Op.97 Violin Concerto No.1 in D Major Piano Concerto No. 5 E-flat Major, Op. 73 Piano Concerto No. 4 G Major, Op. 58
Honestly just listen to Brahms (Beethoven Jr.) if you haven't already.

I still cannot believe that there are 'people' who do not accept that Beethoven's 7th is the apotheosis of the symphony.
William Jones
If you could have a look at this.. I would be thankful for inspiration and ideas.
Wyatt Thomas
I never though of the symphony as having an apotheosis. There are many different types, from different eras, all excellent. Beethoven and Haydn symphonies are one part, Mahler symphonies are another, Martinů, Shostakovich and Prokofiev symphonies are something else, and Schnittke and Penderecki Symphonies are something completely different.
Joshua Davis
the first and second movements are amazing, I honestly cannont stand the third and fourth. One of the few symphonies where I adore each movement is Beethoven's 5 & 6 and Schubert's 9th

You have to learn about 20th century music to become a competent composer
>(unfortunately) dont you want to learn about aleatoric techniques? do you have some kind of problem with harsh dissonance? knowing and using these techniques will help you cover more bases as a composer, and Penderecki is one of the most respected 20th century composers still alive for a very good reason.
James Nguyen

why is Bruckner so mediocre and Bach so god-tier then?

What the hell are they doing anyway. Their last recording was back in 2014. They've got some excellent deep basses for that Pipelare recording, so I really hope they go on to record Ockeghem's Fors seulement mass. None of the three existing recordings for that mass are entirely satisfactory.

It's overrated for a reason, though. It's a beautiful piece of music.

practice more lock yourself in your piano room without a phone or anything and go at it practice untiil you've reached your limit and then practice an hour more keep going dont stop get off Cred Forums practice in smaller sections practice in different rhythms like staccato or swing but the important thing is you practice hard hard hard hard now go
Verdi and Berlioz for another couple of requiems (both a lot better than the Dvorak which I find incredibly boring). Durufle too
And if were less tired I'd draw up a list of Renaissance masses. But chances are Renaissance-user might appear later and he actually knows what he's talking about. Try the Renaissance folder in the OP pasta

Do you want to get into classical music?
If so, there's plenty of stuff, that sounds similar to your example:
I think I've finally found a recording of the original version of the Msa glagolskaja that I like.
It isn't perfect; I wish the tempi were more flexible (sharper contrasts via rubato would have been preferable), but compared to the Mackerras and Janowski versions, I think it holds up better. Hickox balances the orchestra a lot more effectively and you can hear considerably more details in his version than you do in any of the other versions which I've heard.
This holds true especially in regards to the brass, which cuts through in the Veruju/Svet pretty menacingly in a way that Mackerras' does not. Here's a small excerpt of the Svet:
>Salieri, Rousseau and Gossec >no J.C. Bach Might as well replace Mozart and Haydn with Dittersdorf and Vanhal
Jonathan Cook
too bad mozart and haydn are better than dittersdorf and vanhal

How often did you think Porpora railed Farinelli's boipucci?
Owen Moore
Boccherini obviously.

Debussy was a retard Orchestration was completely unneeded and just made it into modern easy listening music. In general anything orchestrated for no reason is just easy listening music. See: 101 Strings
Carson Wright
>orchestrated for no reason What does this even mean
Adrian Bennett
if a composition would be just as effective without orchestration, the orchestration is superfluous
Hudson Sullivan
>tfw you try to listen to Carter but realize you're a fucking idiot because you don't understand anything that's going on
Jace Nelson
Well, that's like entirely your own opinion.

>superfluous orchestration is superfluous
That's definitely a fact.

I'd play the low G in the treble clef at the end of the first measure with LH, decreasing the value of the low Bb in LH, or release the held A in RH for the final note.
Although practiced far more in organ, finger substitutions are your friend here. Don't be afraid to switch fingers if it makes it easier. I'm not really seeing any other trouble spots as long as you play the E in the first beat of the second measure with RH.
A lot of it is just reach - you have to be pretty spread out at points, although nowhere near as much as, say, Daquin's Noel XII
Landon Ramirez
What I exhibited, was my own opinion. You should try it sometime.
Nolan Martinez
Can you give me recommendations of works influenced by or similar to the main idea of Stockhausen's klavierstÃŒck XI, where the form of the piece is dynamic and each interpretation is therefore fundamentally different in its order and how the various fragments are played?
Jeremiah Rodriguez
Stockausen didn't really influence anyone or worth.
Everyone was like "you're on your own buddy"
Caleb Ward
Hmmm that's good to know. He certainly inspires me with that approach to form, it adds a layer of interpretation to a piece that cannot be reproduced by a single recording.
Xavier Perez

If I listen to classical will I seem more knowledgeable and intellectual?
All of them are amazing, but 8, 21, and 32 have to be strong highlights.

How can we be so sure that the church music written/composed in ~1100 (that's almost 1000 fucking years ago) or even ~1600 sounded the way we think it sounded?
When I listen to 20th century recordings of something composed by Tallis or Allegri or Hildegard von Bingen for example, is that really how those compositions sounded back then too?
What if we are interpreting it wrong? There's literally no way to know.
Yeah, Bach violin concerto's are very good. You've never heard them before?
Eli Ortiz
What are you talking about? Medieval is entirely monophonic and probably sounded the exact same except some stuff regarding rhythm. It was even shrouded in reverb like it is today because of the massive cathedrals.
Renaissance might've sounded different because of tuning systems and period instruments but the rhythms were specifically written down.
Jaxon Bennett
I'm pretty new to classical overall, I've been listening to him the whole day
>What if some of it changed over time? What do you mean
Parker Reed
Time travelling kikes made changes to the score in the past
Jack Campbell
medieval gothic scripts were based on jewish letters

What if someone got some tone wrong and it stayed that way
Aaron James
Are you retarded? If you don't know what polyphony is then get the fuck out of here.
Jaxon Carter
Then our music would be different
but that didnt happen
Levi Sullivan
>but that didnt happen How can you be so sure?
What about people in 1200 performing the music made in 1100? Like I said, there were no recordings back then, so they couldn't check if it really sounded like that, it was all passed on orally.
Jaxson Cook
Lol
Benjamin Davis

It's pretty fun actually. It is an opera about contemporary opera producers lamenting the stranglehold Mozart and a few others have on the genre.

Time to separate the men from the plebs. Post your favorite recording of your favorite symphony.
This penitential motet by Clemens non Papa has really grown on me, and the Brabant's performance of it is quite touching. Did I mention it starts (pic related) by quoting Verdelot's Si Bona Suscepimus? comfy.moe/wuugfa.ogg
Probably Schnittke's 1st symphony. Very interesting combination of classical and jazz
Joshua Johnson
why did you have to shitpost up my fucking thread with your bullshit go back to wasting away your life doing menial work you stupid fuck only like meme composers and no composing talent i know your parents wish you killed yourself
