Best album of a genre

ITT: post a genre and the absolute best album of that genre (IYHO)
But try not to use too wide genres like Rock and Hip-Hop, but mostly some smaller sub-genres

I'll start:

Madchester

This album is really fucking amazing. Like a perfect proto-indie album, every song feels like floating in the air completely relaxed while listening to beautiful lyrics, Reni's exceptional drumming, unexpected riffs, and amazing mixture of alternative rock and psychedelic rock -- no other Madchester album even comes close.

Britpop

Sorry mate, but this is the undisputed GOAT

Lo fi

Witch House

pretty self-explanatory, album that started it and the best so far

These

nothing of value to add except to wholeheartedly agree. going to go listen to pulp now

Powerviolence

lo-fi is not really a genre, anything can be lo-fi

Nails is powerviolence for people who don't know anything about powerviolence.

Free Jazz

I tried to pick the most discrete genre tag, I don't think "indie" or "rock" are any more descriptive. What would you suggest?

lo-fi was a specific subgenre of indie rock in the 80s/90s

>Forgetting about Suede
Not even the best GBV album

That's just... wrong

which suede though? debut is my favorite

i'm aware lo-fi is often associated with indie acts. i think 'lo-fi indie' is probably the best descriptor: to me lo-fi is more of an aesthetic than a specific sound, but i suppose vaguer genres and genre names do exist so eh

chick corea knock-off jacket convention jazz

Shoegaze

>half of Cred Forums right now

But that's not squirrel and gman or bummed

music

Avant Rock

>genre with only 2 artists

I don't understand how people don't like the cover. It's like retro futurism. Reminds me of 2001. I also love the juxtaposition of slave chains with astronaut suit.

post-chiptune art pop ravepunk
