I'm trying to get into some synth-y, new-wave from the 80s. What is essential listening? Where do I go from pic related?

their first four albums are pretty much untouchable, but dazzle ships takes the cake.
the others are little more "accessible"/pop leaning, but definitely still worth your time
This and Substance 1987

i'm very much obsessed with "A Girl Named Property"

but "Party Fears Two" is definitely in my top 10 Associates tracks
Try this one
I like this one much better
My brethren.
Dare is a very good starting point. I suggest looking into some early OMD (as mentioned, especially A&M which is a masterpiece), Soft Cell's first album (Erotic Cabaret) and Depeche Mode and New Order.

Heaven 17 is a band that split off from the members of Human League at some point, and their album 'penthouse and pavement' fucking rules
This one has some certified bangers
GOAT
Hall and Oathes
604 was released much later (2001), but in spirit and execution it recalls that golden era of synthpop.
A L P H A V I L L E
I'd recommend New Order if you haven't listened to them already. Try Power, Corruption and Lies then go from there. For more dancier elements try Technique.

Even weirder album.
Yello are legit underrated as fuck.
Agree, user.
>no Simple Minds yet
They're new wave. Too much guitar to be considered synthpop.
