Really, check out the first two Les Discrets albums - which is probably the superior French post-Amesoeurs band.

Dimensional bleedthrough and their latest release are really good. The others I haven't really found exciting. They're pretty inventive, "progressive technical black metal" sounds like a joke but they actually make a convincing case for it.

Alcest started to be famous with Souvenirs, which was marketed heavily. I remember seeing a lot of Alcest-shirts around the time of the release on concerts and festivals and whatnot. I know that Amesoeurs technically existed 2007, but let's be real here, post-Amesoeurs would be 2009+. Maybe it's more like a regional thing though, if you are American.

I had one of the oddest moments yesterday. I took the train to work just like always. I was listening to my metal and started reading an interview from BABYMETAL. I read this quote,

And I just lost it. I started balling eyes out. I was overwhelmed by what metal meant to me. I remembered all the times metal helped me in my life. The good times and the bad. The joy it gave me. To me there is truly magic in metal that I can't explain to my family or some of my friends.

Whatever happens in my life there will always be metal and I could not be happier remembering that fact.
