Along with this chart I've been listening to a lot of Herbie Hancock lately.

David Bowie - Space Oddity
Herbie Hancock - Headhunters
Bjork - Vespertine

Best I can do. I suck at this. Sorry.

not only have I heard all your recs (spot fucking on btw) but your chart is literally one of my favorites I've ever seen on here. even the bizarre addition of Tiny Tim makes this endearing. I wouldn't even begin to know what to recommend to you. I dunno, Harry Taussig? Peter Walker?

bump

never heard of peter walker outside of that one the white wind/loop single with the vu but he seems interesting

gonna try rainy day raga and see if i like it

bummp

Alright I'm thinking about editing this to include some albums from my record collection.

What do you do if you can't find the album you're looking for in the Topsters collection?

You put the image in yourself

holy mother of god I never knew of this split. I'm on it

Listening to Mingus The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady right meow

...

Try the rest of the De La Soul discography

again? well if you insist

what did he mean by this, lads?

this is the longest i've had the same chart

Daniele Lombardi - Piano Works

use neverendingchartrendering.org instead

Circle of Ouroborus
Rodan - Rusty

Peter Brotzmann - Machine Gun
Bongripper - Satan Worshipping Doom

He thinks we're stupid, probably.

...

Oh hey, I was right!
ANyway yeah I'm figuring out my chart slowly. It should be ready soon.

>tfw you just now realize he was checking those sweet gets

Oh.

Hoolindagain doesnt sound like any other anco, just listen to the first song.

mainly looking for decent stoner/doom recs
or punk/emo like the bands i have
or anything like the drones

Eleventh He Reaches London, Australian emo/post-hardcore with folk and metal influence

youtube.com/watch?v=Ty7Hm-mfOq8

>doom recs
MF DOOM- Operation Doomsday
King Geedorah - Take Me To Your Leader
Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain
Madvillain - Madvillainy
MF DOOM - MM FOOD?
DangerDoom - The Mouse and the Mask
DOOM- Born Like This

rec my plebness away

I updated my chart to include recent favorites and my vinyl collection. Do I suck less now?

pls

ok my friend I definitely will!

Hey man I'm just giving you what you requested.

You think you have eclectic and diverse taste in jazz but really you're still an embryo.

I'm willing to bet that many of those jazz albums on your chart you haven't even listened to more than once.

I wonder who posted this...

...

Cap'n Jazz - Analphabetapolothology
A Minor Forest - Inindependence
Giraffes? Giraffes! - More Skin With Milk-Mouth
The rest of Don Caballero's discography

sorry to break it to you bro. HUGE jazz fan. I've listened to all these albums 10+ times (these are personal 8/10s and above). many more jazz albums I love but just didn't make the cut. thanks for trying though

rec me some jazz then

what genre you looking for? what's your style?

...

>what genre you looking for?
jazz dumbass

I don't think jazz has a subgenre called dumbass

Rec me some good jazz from the 90's or early 2000's

ok... if you don't even know enough about jazz to know subgenres then there's really not much else for us to talk about is there?

I mean hell, if you just want the basic basics go for Miles Davis - Kind of Blue, John Coltrane - A Love Supreme, Louis Armstrong - The Complete Hot 5s and 7s, Duke Ellington - At Newport '56, and Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker - Bird and Diz to get you started. this will give you a rough range of how jazz was from 20s-60s

took the bait
thanks for the (You)s

jesus

oh dear, i feel so defeated

good bait tho

I'm terrified to post this since it has jazz in it

for the 90s I really like Sonny Sharrock - Ask the Ages (avant garde with a bunch of veteran players like Sanders. John Zorn is really out there too if you like Ornette Coleman. but it's more like Coleman mixed with... Black Flag or something. as for 00s William Parker and Tomasz Stanko are pretty cool (though Stanko's been around for ages)

I GURANTEE you don't actually like jazz.

I just wanted to look cool in front of strangers.

Is that so wrong?

Okokok I FINALLY updated my chart to something I'm happy with. This is the final one I'm sticking with.

I mean if you're looking for recs based solely Mingusx5 or Love Supreme I guess the Jazz Composer's Orchestra would be a good start. late 60s avant garde group. specialized in free jazz and big band. kinda like Fire! Orchestra too now that I think about it

oh, i guess not, carry on

What are some good jazz albums that I can put in my chart that will seem impressive? Right now I only know Cred Forumscore jazz.

don't worry about how something will seem. listen to it because you like it bro. Cred Forumscore jazz still isn't bad. people just like to give shit here

rateyourmusic.com/customchart?page=1&chart_type=esoteric&type=album&year=2000s&genre_include=1&include_child_genres=1&genres=jazz&include_child_genres_chk=1&include=both&origin_countries=&limit=none&countries=

I only know Herbie Hancock
So I would probably say: Go with Herbie Hancock.
He's hardly ever talked about on here for some reason.

:)

Ronald Shannon Jackson & the Decoding Society - When Colors Play

Well I'm not going to actually listen to it... Kek how new are you? Are there actually people who listen to all the albums on their chart?

>doesn't play an instrument
I really should get to that one of these days.

Make a snall chart of albums that look cool and nice and intellectual but actually fucking suck

I saw The Headhunters live the other day.
It was good good good.

Jazz is only good if it's both obscure and avant garde

I can't even tell who's trolling who anymore

...

can we go back to reccing

>the shape of jazz to come
>free jazz

I recommend you shut your bitch mouth

you can always trust wikipedia amirite :^)

Roast my shit taste

',:^)

this thread just goes to show you how jazz ruins everything in the end

that is a pretty fucking deplorable path you've chosen to walk

A lot of these are recent favorites.

your parents might know it

lil herb - welcome to fazoland

deafheaven - sunbather
cap'n jazz - analphabetapolothology
guided by voices - bee thousand

common - be

sweep the leg johnny - tomorrow we will run faster

d'angelo - voodoo
giles corey - s/t

refused - the shape of punk to come

Can someone recommend me some patrician free Jazz then? I like Sun Ra :(

What's good? Rec me the darkest craziest jazz stuff you know with some insane percussion parts? Preferably also has some electronic fuckery on it? I am in the mood for some Manfred Schoof or Cecil Taylor stuff taken to the next level.

Cool stuff. Even after all these years, Spiderland will for a bit get off my ipod...just to be back on it a few months later. Thus it rarely every leaves my chart.

Anyway, I see some pretty jazzy sounding stuff and some pretty dark stuff on your chart so check out

Bohren & der Club of Gore - Black Earth
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble - Here Be Dragons

Don't you know that metal's for children? Nah though I won't hate honestly a lot of the stuff on yours is tried and true all time favorites for me.

Heathen - Victims Of Depression
Obliveon - From This Day Forward
Arghoslent - Incorrigible Bigotry

Bob James Trio - Explosions
Black Unity Trio - Al Fatihah
Sunny Murray - Sunshine
Dave Burell - Echo

I guess you could listen to the ones above, Archie Shepp, Frank Wright and Jimmy Lyons are all very good.

whoops fucked up the trip

have you tried naked city?

lilys - in the presence of nothing
