It's the same woman who appears on the others, right? I always assumed it was her mother.
Have you guys ever heard Loveless by My Bloody Valentine?
no. get that emo screamo shit outta here.
>Being this confused
>falling for not one but two baits
and that's three
lol, got me
wtf I thought the one on psychopomp was her mom and the rest was her
Hey I saw these guys live
How was that
They honestly the best band that played. The lead singer was really energetic and got the crowed pumped the fuck up.
she's much qter
what do you guys think of that album?
what an awful cover
Fellow shugazi anons, I released an album of dream pop/shoegaze stuff with a post-rock vibe. If you want to check it out and/or give feedback I'd appreciate
zhutchka.bandcamp.com
sounds kinda like lovesliescrushing, but poorer.
i like it.
k i listened to prism its ok I guess
that melody or whatever isn't really distinct, I feel like i've heard it before and the drum programming is really stiff, you might wanna do something about that and this might just be me but I'm not into the slowly developing post rock thing, i think if you're going to use some alternative song structure, you have to make it complement the music, make it purposeful
but it's pretty okay I guess, it's pleasant pretty much all the way through and it's great when hearing the progression or when instruments come in.
also I didn't listen to the whole album so idk maybe it's better with context
huh, kinda looks like someone i know
fuckin wild
Liner notes say the album is dedicated to her mother, so I think its safe to assume one of those women is her mother
...
It's been a long time since I've seen this.
What happened?
No one likes it so no one talked about it.
I like it.

I am a jazz/blues musician.
I was asked by an acquaintance, who played bass in a band, to play lead for them. I agreed and we planned to hire a place for next friday night.
The place was not in my city, nor in my province, but I said that I was going to be there, so I went.
After 1.5 hours by train, and 30 minutes by bus I arrive at the studio-complex, where the aforementioned acquaintance and his band is waiting for me. Up to this point, I had no idea what kind of band this was or what I was in for. I thought it would be fun to experiment with something that I was unfamiliar with.
The drummer was a 17 year old guy, with a lot of funk influences and a great talent for his instrument. I remember being shocked by his ability.
The keyboard player was a 20-something nerd who didn't talk to me at all and just sat in the chair smoking cloves for about 90% of the time I was there.
The bassplayer was 21 and a pretty cool guy, just a regular bass player.
But then, holy fucking shit. The guitar player that they had looked like something from out of a pure fever dream. Robert Smith-type hairdo, black lipstick, pants so tight that it must have castrated him because there was not a shred of manliness in this "guy" his posture. I shook his hand and smelled a scent only reminiscent of my days as a care-taker for autistic people. I could see it in his black-marked eyes, Asperger-Syndrome. It was an absolute appalling sight to see, and I immediately knew that I was fucked.
After the initial introductions and small talk, we entered the studio. We plugged in, everyone was tuning up, but I hear that the autismal guys guitar is not in any regular tuning, so I ask him. What tuning are you in? He replies with : "Oooooh! THIS IS SOMETHING I MADE UP MYSELF, I CALL IT DRAGON TUNING ITS F# F# F# D A"
needless to say, he was a shoegaze fan and I found myself in a studio, with a shoegaze/dreampop band.
I packed up my shit and left.
What a horrible day.
fuck shoegaze
Nice pasta user
any bands/albums similar to the first 3 mazzy star albums lads?
I hate to say this, but this actually happened to me. I didn't even mention the guy had 21 effect peddles with him.
Sorry if its an obvious suggestion but there's Mojave 3
it was just one autistic shoegaze fan out of millions
thanks
i need more fuzzy warm stuff like Belong and Grouper if grouper was more shoegaze-y
what were they called
the most shitposting /shugazi/ has ever done
Lets keep it that way
What is the best Blackgaze?
What's the best Blackgaze this year?
I didn't wanna go cause I hate Porches but you've convinced me.
Also witnessed
Not going to name them solely for the reason that the one jam I played with them was videotaped and uploaded.
Was he this guy
good rec user really enjoyable
>tfw big slowdive fan but never bothered listening to slowdive2.0
am I the only one who loves this genre but can't really get into the classics as much? I appreciate mbv, lush etc but don't really see the big deal. Is it just cause they were 'the big ones'?
/shugazi/ funny baits edition
Well if you're not a fan of the 90s alt rock sound it can be hard to appreciate the "classics." I think the only one that really moved away from it was MBV. Slowdive by Pygmalion but Ride, Chapterhouse, Lush, Catherine Wheel, etc are all really influenced by it.
@The Sinclair in Cambridge?
>tfw you might be next to fellow Cred Forumstants
Anything similar to this?
I'm searching for some sad/melancholic shoegaze.
I love shoegaze but a lot of the OG stuff is very much of its time
nothing comes quite like it senpai, I've asked this question a few times too. Maybe try Sun Devoured Earth's latest releases, it's influenced by Have a Nice Life. Although, it's still blackgaze.
Nope, Minneapolis on 9/28
Thanks, ill give it a try
very underrated dreampop and shoegaze album
you should check it out
youtube.com
everyone heard of this already user
oh I just don't lurk enough then user haha
I haven't
check it out!
It has some of my favorite dream pop tracks
why do you think your opinion on dreampop matters when you post an album that everyone already heard saying its underrated and trying to give off the impression that its obscure?
fucking normie kill yourself and leave
I despise people like you
Ok
I haven't seen it around here before
but like I said I just don't lurk enough
even if it has been posted lots I just introduced it to someone else and that's all that matters
hope you die alone and miserable cunt, you post like a fucking woman
how can one love shoegaze and not love Loveless? it boggles the mind. are you conflating dream pop with shoegaze?
Most b8 heavy /shugazi/ i can remember
Yes.
>hope you die alone
Wew, someone doesn't have many friends.
Fuck off back to Cred Forums. You're doing nothing but making yourself look like an edgy cunt. The guy was just starting some discussion, which actually helps the thread unlike your autistic outbursts.
im 22,never held hands with a girl, never hugged, never kissed and have 0 friends.
why do you post on this website if you have friends?
go to facebook if you want to discuss music with your friends fucking normies
you wanna smoke or chill before the show?
You, you and you.
Get off my /shugazi/ and go to the principal's office.
NOW!
it's like the guys who browse /shugazi/ forget what site they're on and can't identify b8 anymore.
it's also cause /shugazi/'s so good but come on it's not hard
that's not a download link pal
Shit inhuman sounding drum samples, generic synths and chords, overly long boring songs
Here's some advice:
-humanize your drums and learn how to use EQs, Compressors and Exciters properly
-learn to use more than two chords per song
-quality over quantity: better release one great song than an album full of snorefest shit
will slowdive ever release an ep comp like mbv did
yeah same
Reccing this
>tfw tryna get on the same label so we can go tour with them or something
Nothing quite like it, but I guess try Deafheaven's Sunbather next
I guess Jim Jarmush's band sometimes gets close in terms of vibe
youtube.com
good pick on sunbather but i guess songs about leaving by carissa's wierd would fit better for what he is looking for.
Sonic Cathedral should be like /shugazi/'s favorite label.
There's not really another one as dedicated to shoegaze, right?
unty is that you
I think there are, but they're all shit netlabels and the like
Shit like this prettyinnoise.bandcamp.com
Why fucking bother with a label if it won't give you heavy PR and vinyl
don't start this shit again pal
just a question famaroni
Netlabels aren't even labels.
I mean I wouldn't consider it one, I don't feel like many people really do.
That's kinda what blue day was, even though Slowdive didn't really have anything to do with that release. Otherwise, I can't see them doing anything with their old releases. I really would love the Beach song/Take Me Down to be remastered, and released digitally.
>I can't see them doing anything with their old releases.
very new to /shugazi/
why is it you don't see them doing anything with their old stuff?
this is fucking great, thanks
Anything similar to this? It may be the best thing I listened to this year, got chills and shit.
I love shit like Silversun Pickups and Amusement Parks on Fire
shoegaze is great
what a massive faggot you are hahahaha
check out Helen then. It's her shoegaze/dream band
>Silversun Pickups
They're pretty good. I heard one of their songs on the radio which was relieving. Definitely has a shoegaze sound to it.
...
It's not that i don't like loveless, it's that I don't see what makes it so great
bump
tfw they're playing at el club detroit but i don't have a ride
How do I get to play a show with my shoegaze project? Do I just email an obscure band's manager?

This was kinda disappointing after their first release. I was hoping for a slightly more melodic version of that SUPER lo-fi blurry sound they had on the S/T
Ceremony - Distance
>Shoegaze, Noise Rock, Post-Punk,

Yeah, all the fuzziness I liked so much was completely removed from their sound.

Im not sure why he feels that way, they had some recent reissues
Just because they had one hit doesnt mean they're shit or not shoegaze
