I just really like that band, I don't care about trends, memes or production values, just give me something that makes me shiver like that record.
For the record, my mother, a 60yo woman, got me into Mgla. I hooked her up on Priest and Maiden, and now she's all about Burzum, Batushka, Be'lakor, Shylmagoghnar and Agalloch.

One is thrash crossed over with hardcore, and the other is hardcore crossed over with thrash.

thrashcore is entirely punk and has no connection to thrash metal at all

crossover thrash is essentially a hybrid of thrash metal and hc punk

the other is thrash with bits of hardcore punk awkwardly shoved in it, as opposed to crust punk or regular thrash where it feels a lot more organic.

Thrash metal is already a hybrid of metal and hardcore punk.

Crossover in the 90s
Thrashcore has more breakdowns and grooves that are typical of metalcore and a dude who sing-raps in a tough guy voice.

Should get around to checking those, granted if those are similar to Timeghoul I'll dig 'em. Wicked Innocence is interesting but not like a fav.

He said he wanted to "get into Burzum." I still don't see why he'd want to skip two of the best albums by said artist, just because they're slightly different in approach. Maybe the debut might be a bit jarring after Filosofem, but keep in mind songs like "Dunkelheit" and "Black Spell of Destruction" were probably written around the same time and really are not that disparate.

It's so weird how people always cite 'well if you are okay with murder, rape, and torture lyrics' when talking about how people should be okay with NSBM. I don't know much BM that deals with murder/rape/torture, that shit is for cannibal corpse death metal nerd garbage. BM deals with death/misanthropy/philosophy/religion/occultism/mythology/earth/nature/depression/suicide. I can't really think of much BM that is about rape murder and torture outside of bad BM and like bands like profanatica writing about raping angels and murdering god.
