black gays chart
who on dat suicidal shit rn?
anyone listens to Ceremony (from Virginia)? Ceremony (California) is my favorite hardcore band but I'd really like to try out the shoegaze Ceremony. Which album should I start with?
So uhh both these charts point to Pulse Demon after Grandeur of Hair, is there any sort of logical progression within Shoegaze from Grandeur of Hair?
Grandeur of hair is uncharted territory for me. From what I've heard, you can hear the instruments and you can tell them apart so it's not yet harsh noise like Pulse Demon. Can't really answer you, sorry fâm.
imma let my thread die but I'll never understand how there is always a kpop thread up here 24/7 yet threads like shugazi struggle to last a day. They're literally obsessing over women covered in tons of makeup and plastic surgery who all sound the same. You browse through those threads and it has nothing to do with music, they're only in it for the looks. It's basically porn threads.
any 2016 recommendations?
any suicidal non-blackgaze shoegaze recs?
Pinkshinyultrablast - grandfeathered
No Joy - drool sucker
Lush - blindspot
Autolux - pussy's dead
Diiv - is the is are
Nothing - tired of tomorrow (they're drifting further away from shugazi)
Pity Sex - White Hot Moon
New LSD & search for god & pinkshinyultrablast
yooooo how the fuck did I miss LSD &, it was one of my fav releases of 2016.
I wish there would be suicidal shoegaze bands or just plain depressive shoegaze bands without black metal influence whatsoever.
what's a band that sounds like Loomer and Sometimes on Loveless? Looking for chill/sad I could fall asleep to this shoegaze
weird huh? It's like the majority of mu posters are 16-20 year old males or something!
Wouldn't Static be a better choice to be on the spot were Cults' S/T is? It's more akin to shoegaze than their debut.
In addition toSound of Ceres - Nostalgia For Infinity (new project from Candy Claws folks)
Japanese Breakfast - Psychopomp (not shugazi all the way through, but a must hear)
Everyone knows kpg isn't music related.
They're their general threads are tolerated because without them, they'd be infecting the whole board with their cancer.
And its easy to keep a thread alive when "discussion" is just memes and gifs of women you want to fuck.
/shugazi/ is slow because it somehow manages to keep shitposts at a minimum
Start with Rocket Fire (2nd album). It's a classic imo. Distance is a little less noisy and more poppy, but actually has real drums and is still great. Birds EP is my favorite so far and is super dense.
thx fåm, I'll give it a try!
you're right, these degenerates are better off quarantined. I'll just filter their cancerous threads.
who /dreampop/ here?
> What have you been listening to?
> What have you liked from 2016?
> What discoveries have you made?
For myself:
> taking a trip through the lesser known Cocteau Twins albums. Big fan of pic related, but I also think HoLV shits on Treasure
> completely out of the loop on new dream pop but I'm curious to hear other answers
> the debut album and subsequent EP from You'll Never Get to Heaven. both fantastic stuff with ambient and tape loop influence, with plenty of icy textures.
Any more dream pop from China?
Which album is this year's AOTS btw?
There are the other Goslings albums.
I think there was this band called Thud that someone posted here a while back. They're from Hong Kong.
>S
What do you guys think of Ghost Bath? I haven't listened to them yet and I wanna get in a good mindset for hearing them the first time. Heard they weren't really chinese.
Faye Wong (pic in OP)
Boyz and Girl (Taiwan)
TuT (Taiwan)
Dear Eloise (China)
Dear Eloise are good
Anyone know of some shoegaze with killer riffs ala in utero Nirvana
Starflyer 59 - Gold
>Shoegaze, Indie Rock, Dream Pop, Slowcore at times
mega.nz
youtube.com
ubitchu
Check out the laurels they are pretty fcking good t b h
yo Americana has some sick riffs too and brings that murrican feel. Probably one of the best American shoegaze record.
fâm, would you have a link for Ceremony - Rocket Fire or Birds EP?
youtube.com
>noise pop, just-here-to-have-fun-core
So what is the actual difference between shoegaze and dream pop?
Instrument use, vocalist choice, 'heaviness', pop sensibilities when it comes to song composition
pedals
shoegaze is much more guitar-centric.
Dream pop is more electronic and lush
Whilst shoegaze is more guitar oriented and heavy
24/7 shoegaze and dreampop radio!
>decayfm.com
site can't be reached
nvm, decayfm.com works
Working fine for me just try decayfm.com
Hey, i didnt know about coaltar of the deeprs, good shit.
I love this radio station because I always find good new shoegaze bands I never heard of
fuzao (op) is a great album though
Y i ll tune in to them from time to time for sure. Thx user.
how come not one shoegaze chart ever has Glifted on it, but they all include shit tier p4k bands like DIIV, Whirr, Nothing, Deerhunter, etc
you should probably let people know that Starflyer 59 is a christian band before you start secretly getting people to sign up for your youth prayer group
Nothing and Whirr aren't bad though.
lmao chill f4m, you can still listen to christian music without being religious. As long as it sounds great, the message isn't that important, especially in shoegaze. Literally no one cares about lyrics in shoegaze. Pity Sex had dog shit lyrics for a while yet it still sounded decent.
The message in starflyers music isn't really forceful and hamfisted like most Christian bands, plus they make great music. I'm non religious but I can still appreciate what they're trying to do.
nothing sounds less interesting than the piles of budget bin cds of forgettable 90s rock bands that sound nearly identical in style. people just like them because they are really good at PR. you might as well be listening to Switchfoot.
Whirr is less interesting than Nothing but they get points for being edgelords
their lyrics aren't even religious
whatever carries your cross.
starflyer was on tooth and nail records, a prominent christian label. prefer my shugazi secular.
you should probably know that pity sex and cloakroom are also christian bands. there were in more explictly religious bands before and then they formed these bands and did some cool graphic design and bought neato guitars and flannels to make it big time.
hahahaah okay dude, no one cares about your christian-shoegaze consipiracy.
how do you know?
if there is even one reference to clay, then that is super god squad.
its Jars Of Clay with a reverb pedal.
not a conspiracy. theres just a lot of jesus freaks that outgrew their Zao records and bought jazzmasters.
have fun at the church retreat tho, sorry i cant make it
...
>getting this worked up about the ideology of a shoegaze band.
wew lad
fuckin tim tebow over here
deadass
Ceremony - Rocket Fire
>Shoegaze, Noise Pop,
mega.nz
yooooooo thank you so much my main dude.
Ceremony - Birds
>Shoegaze, Noise Pop, Lo-Fi,
youtube.com
mega.nz
The Goslings - Occasion
>Noise Rock, Shoegaze, Drone, Noise,
mega.nz
I think "heavy shoegaze" and "dream pop that is shoegaze so not really dream pop" should be different genres. I vastly prefer the first over the latter and the latter seems to be the vast majority of shoegaze records.
thanks again, man, you're doing great work!
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - My Bloody Underground
>Psychedelic Rock, Drone, Shoegaze,
mega.nz
How does this compare to Between the Bed and Grandeur of Hair?
>bed
Occasion has a cleaner recording (I think it's their best sounding), and more abstract songwriting
>i dunno man i want to listen to some other genres, it has already been like 4-5 month since i discovered this genre and can't actually listen to anything else.
music for this feel?
Has anybody heard this? It's pretty hood
Yes everyone here has heard it and it's bad
It's pretty good though
Couldn't get into this one. Is it really fun?
Pretty on point.
Yes, it's good, so is Nostalgia for Infinity, ignore .
yeah, lots of yelling and crazy drumming
really enjoying this so far.
I used to smoke weed and take xanax everyday. Listening to shoegaze was so enjoyable. But not that I quit, it doesn't sound as good anymore. Does that mean shoegaze is not as good as I thought? It was sound good just because I'm high?
Yeah probably
or your tastes changed
What do we know about how you think
Who else is excited for Kodama?
idk but who is niege paying to draw those qts on his album covers
Leak when ?
>tfw I saw them live after seeing Cattle Decapitation
The dreamy atmosphere created at Subterranean couldn't be described.
if you need drugs to enjoy a certain genre of music, you didn't like it to begin with.
Are there 5%er shoegaze bands just asking for a friend
As opposed to other genres of music?
I love this album, where do I go from this in the rest of An Autumn's discography?
Yes. Personally, it is much harder to enjoy more trippy shoegaze music when sober
you're a druggy pleb.
Kairon; IRSE! - Ujubasajuba
>Shoegaze, Post-Rock,

they should release a new record, I hope they're still a band.
Pretty sure they would announce a break up.
Is this truly one of the great masterpieces of dream pop genre? Donimo is a most beautiful song. The album in its entirety (Treasure) really bar man.
forgot link;
youtube.com
I've never seen this album posted on Cred Forums ever, and I can't believe that I missed out on it so long. A.R. Kane is some shoejazzpop and it's crazyyyy good. Check it out those who haven't.
>famous singer from some shoegaze/dreampop band
>some well known ambient dude
>cover reminded me of the pearl by budd/eno
help
...
I see a lot of shoegaze/blackgaze/ambient projects that are made by only one dude. How hard would it be to start making shoegaze alone if I have no knowledge of music whatsoever. I'm a huge shoegaze fan but I've never tried making music and I have a good computer.
sure i don't see why not
music doesn't really require knowledge really you just have to like making it
but you kind of need a guitar for it to be shoegaze
I've been enjoying this recently, anyone know any other good emogaze artists?
oh ok, I've had guitar lessons back in high school. I guess I could pick up an acoustic guitar to practice. How expensive would be a shoegaze guitar starter kit, with the electric guitar and all the pedals and equipment for recording etc...?
give me obscure noise shoegaze please
i'm tired of astrobrite and cosmicdust
Turnover and Title Fight, both their latest releases come to mind although you probably know about em.
The Cherry Wave - Avalancher
>Shoegaze, Noise Rock,
mega.nz
That cover is subpar compared to previous ones.
Can you post a Mega of the Kinoko Teikoku album eureka?
Thought
Pretty good, but doesn't have the same magic that ceres and calypso had. Better produced though.
Not quite suicidal but certainly some depressing parts lyrically
Shoegaze AOTY.
Is Mass of the Fermenting Dregs shoegaze?
Huge ass report and small 500 words essay due friday. Any shugazi to help me storm through it?
youtube.com
It's more low energy and the vocals aren't as prominent so I've found it's pretty good for school stuff. Power through user, I have stuff that's due, but I gave up.
thx senpai imma check it out, don't give up, get back to doing your shit.
No you're just comparing it to those times when you were on weed and xanax, which make music sound better
I don't think I've never encountered a shoegaze fan who wasn't a bit of a druggy or wasn't at some point in their life.
I've never done any drug.
Cigarettes, alcohol, caffeine and sugar are drugs too.
>alcohol, caffeine and sugar
Nice meme. I hardly think that doing any of these extremely normal things makes you "a bit of a druggy". The definition of drug is so loose that you can classify anything as one.
A drug is a substance that causes a physiological effect and as well as addiction. Everything I listed falls comfortably into that category.
If that's the case I don't think there are any people who aren't druggies at at least some point in their life.
I'm glad we're in agreement.
#makesuthink
So food is drugs then? It triggers the dopamine reward pathways and you can get addicted to that feeling.
We're getting sidetracked
Thought's on this?
Only tasty food does that, i.e. anything that contains sugar.
More like this?
Just listened to it. Not my shoegaze AOTY but solid.
yo this is lit, never seen or heard them before. Really chill vibes.
I always considered Lorelei to be my favorite song off of that album
how the fuck do they have millions and millions of views on youtube? Just seems like a random shoegaze/dream pop band why them in particular?
>tfw my favorite Cocteau Twins release is a compilation album Stars and Topsoil
probably recommended by some big viral e-celeb?
I just googled it. One of the reason of their fame is because of Youtube recommendation.
Anyone ever listen to Flying Saucer attacks first album? You know, the one before the s/t
I'm finally hearing it now and feel like I've been missing out on one of the top tier essential of 90's shoegaze
For some reason one of their songs showed up on a lot of people's sidebar as "recommended for you"
No clue why. Maybe some quirk in the algorithm that worked in the band's favor
yeah I'm a secomd
Just got around to finally listening to this. Really wishing I had done so sooner.
I have most of their discography on SoulseekQt if you want me to share it with you user
I like it better than ceres and calypso. dig the space vibe more than the tropical vibe. Not that ceres and calypso isn't great
Opinions on Turnovers- Peripheral Vision album? Other albums like it??
more like drape - canicular days?
never got the hype for this one. sounded kind of generic to me
that album is GOAT for me
Kinoko Teikoku - eureka
>Indie Rock, Shoegaze, Post-Rock,
mega.nz
This is possibly the best shoegaze album to come out since the 90s
Downward years to come was great, but I've been pretty disappointed with everything they've put out since then desu
started listening to this recently it's pretty dope I have to say
it's the best japgaze album
it really is
It's not tho. It's only mid tier.
The most important shugazi band out today.
