Maybe its because I grew up but I've noticed how cringy local metalcore bands are lately. Have they always been this way and I never noticed or is it a recent development? I'd recommend checking out the band Nails, then.
All in all, my number one quarrel with metalcore is how they try to just be pop. Just about all the song will be fucking boring, generic, and the same old metalcore crap, but oh my God the band will make sure the chorus is the cleanest most catchy thing they can think of, because a chorus is all you need to make a song.
