I recommended Bon Iver to my first gf and she still posts about him on Facebook.

You are a lucky man.

Maybe because you got shit taste. What did you recommend?

We split up 3 years ago lmao

it's nothing special

I recommended Pet Sounds to a friend who thought the Beach Boys were meme popstars Biff McCool would listen to as he shared a malt with Stacy at the local diner. It is now his favorite album. The key is to not force the rec on people and to recommend what you genuinely think they might enjoy based on your knowledge of them as a person, rather than you trying to shove your favorites down the throats of people who don't care

>hip-hop is my favorite genre
>I listen exclusively to weird stuff like Busdriver, Saul Williams, MF DOOM, Death Grips, Danny Brown, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Kool Keith, etc.
>everyone else listens to shitty radio "club" music

You are just gonna make fun of me, no matter what I say.

One of my best friends is a huge Smiths fan now
Either get better friends or listen to more accessible music

>I like to listen to weird stuff

Wow you must be a deep dude my dude

>girl who recommended great music to me
>it didn't work out
>reminded of her every time i listen to those artists

I fell in love with a lot of stuff people recommended to me. Rec me something user

Why does every normie I recommend LCD Soundsystem to not at the very least enjoy it? It's accessible and fun, right?

No, I'm just curious. What did you recommend and to who? Friend, gf, coworker etc?

how the fuck are any of those rappers weird
just cause they're not normie-core doesn't mean its super weird and experimental, they're like the first layer of rappers who are only popular to genre fans

call me a pleb but three people I've recommended joy division to have become hardcore fans

feels good honestly

Shit I know this all too well.
>infatuated with this post-punk qt
>had a great time discussing music and recommending each other bands
>I fucked it up though

Can't even listen to Joy Division anymore

For me, the problem is that my friends already have a great taste in music, so there's nothing I could recommend to them. Hell, I'm usually the one getting recommendations.

I would recommend stuff like Asobi Seksu and Alabama 3 if I had the chance.

will you fall in love with this style?

youtube.com/watch?v=wElkeXX9-KY

>nobody will ever feel what i feel for dean blunt

youtu.be/kPD4f0VuCHw

youtube.com/watch?v=uk_9XTVAjSU

are you me?

>girl
>great music
Pick one

It's cringy
Jesus Christ do you want a fucking medal? Literally everyone and their grandma knows them now

cringy in what way? explain.

If you think the first song off this is happening isn't cringy then we're done talking

>evening time
>sitting on couch talking with qt nice girl who I'm starting to fall in love with
>we start talking music again
>she's pleb but she's curious and wants me to rec her stuff occasionally
>play it safe with mostly pop stuff
>"So, what's your favourite album, like THE one?"
>I get up and put on Ys
>She literally can't stop laughing
>still teases me by doing her joanna voice

feels so bad man

I agree that the first part of the first song is cringy, so let's keep talking.

thanks, i'm gonna listen to this next time i go for a bike ride.

What's the overlapping music?

youtube.com/watch?v=zNUW1NqM9oo

My girlfriend loves Talking Heads because of me. =3

Yea when he stops talking it's pretty good but the vocals stopped me from listening to a lot of their songs

Yes.

Yeah, I guess I'm just salty that repetition oriented music (a la Steve Reich and others) isn't typically lauded as "good"

>recommended some song I fucking love
>got a "eh, it's fine I guess" reply
Never again

can't relate happens to me all the time

I feel that feel, OP

Joy Division is okay, I guess... wait, who were you talking to that didn't know about Joy Division?

I hear it all the time, and yet I keep making recommendations. I keep fooling myself into believing it will all change one day... it wont...

>uh user this is harsh
>so dissonant

it's fucking FLAMING LIPS, DO YOU WANT ME TO PUT ON SOME GOD DAMN HARSH NOISE SO YOU CAN HEAR WHAT DISSONANT IS???

Anyone I've shown Babymetal to has loved them.

wtf is Ys?

I love Death Grips and Saul, only just got into MF Doom. Who is more experimental that you'd recommend?

>IM A SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE

>friend only listen to songs with repetitive hooks
>I was playing Killing Floor 2 while talking with him
>suggest him the Collpasing song from the games soundtrack
>he's been listening to it for about half a year about once or more a day

WHAT THE FUCK
It's fun in the games conext, but for fucks sake it's the most predictable and repetitive song to ever grace Steam, yet somehow, he's addicted to it.

Other than that, people pretty much never listen to anything I recommend, be it Bowie or Stars of the lid.

I need to proof-read before posting.

i recommended Nathaniel Rateliff to my uncle, and now he has bought tickets and is taking me to his concert :)

also i recommended pic related to a friend and he can't stop listening ever since

lurk moar before posting please

Mate you are used to those artists.
Death grips and Danny Brown are preety weird compared to regular hip hop.

:(

FUCKING NEWFAG REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LURK MORE FUCKING SANDNIGGER

dont u talk bad bout my ys :,(

What you need to do is check your trips.

>6606
>trips

>555
>>trips
You really do need to proofread

>Asobi Seksu
>Alabama 3
TOO MUCH MAN HAHA

Not him, but I like Lil Ugly Mane.

It's happened for me a bunch of times.

Problem is most of you are probably sweaty turtle-like individuals who try to make up with your lack of personality and social skills with music knowledge and simply force recommendations on people who a) don't really like that kind of music or b) don't really like music in general

Stop being such dweebs and talking about normies, go out there and own your social anxiety and weirdo interests. It's cool to be a fucking loser now, ride the wave

>Uncle is into hippie music, classic rock, rockabilly, country and stripped down rock like the Black Keys.
>Black Sabbath is too heavy for him, to put it in perspective
>Camping with him this summer, got some tunes going
>He's bored of his music, asks me to hook my mp3 player up
>Uh oh.
>Not gonna lack Sabbath, not gonna like KISS, not gonna like Van Halen, not gonna like Iron Maiden, not gonna like Motorhead.
>Put on some Johnny Cash
>Only album I have on my mp3 player is The Man Comes Around
>Slow and depressing as fuck
>Kills the vibe.
>Panic mode
>Oh wait, I do have The Head Cat's first album. He might like that, even if it is Lemmy.
>Put it on
>He loves it
>My uncle now has two of Lemmy's CDs

It's a cool feeling to introduce someone to an artist they never would have found on their own.

LIKE WHAT I LIKE

nice desu

That's mean.
