Yeah, shooting a SRH vs the S&W 460 is night and day. The SRH stings like a son of a bitch while the 460v is pretty tame. Smith def did their R&D to make that gun managable but even outside shooting it without ear pro is fucking brutal. A friend once shot a bear that was following him with his 460 and he thought the gun blew up it was so loud. turns out he never shot it without ear protection on before that day. took the whole top of the bears head off though.

Best advice I can give... (I was in the firearms industry for a decade)

Start with a .22lr if you want to get good. Just do it. youll feel like a fag but trust me. nothing is more laughable than the guy who cant keep 5 shots on paper from 5 yards away because they started with a 357 or 45 acp.

next, go try as many as you can. Watch youtube videos on proper grip and trigger press from people who are actually experts like Jerry Miculek or Travis Haley (when hes not having ND's)

Find a gun that FITS YOUR HAND. if you dont know how its supposed to fit go talk to someone who knows their shit. not the 17 year old at gander mountain.

Also, dont buy a Desert Eagle. I did because I'm an asshole who has owned basically everything under the sun. Unless you have reloading equipment and experience... dont do it. dont even mention it until you have a couple thousand rounds through a couple guns.

To note: don't expect that to save your ass. .22LR is prone to fail to fire since it's rimfire. So very likely click and no boom. And while you can certainly kill someone with a .22, you have to hit a good shot to do so.
