MOST cops probably are good cops in most situations. The problem is two fold and compounded:

1) the bad cops damage the trust relationship the citizens have with law enforcement and that distrust breeds contempt.

2) Bad cops can lie, cheat, steal, rape and murder people with impunity. It's FAR too obvious that they are never held accountable for their actions as the precincts, other cops and judiciary NEVER do anything about it. This is extremely irresponsible.

We NEED some way to hold the vile, disgusting criminal cops accountable to the law and the police need to do a much better job of weeding them out than they do. I have seen MANY examples of job flyers for police that encourage people who've had prior criminal histories and disqualifications due to mental testing to REAPPLY.
