The argument of ball tip vs flat tip is arbitrary. It comes down to a personal style decision. While personall I much prefer the silverflat tip posted here , the overall decor of the house is paramount in making this decision. I prefer a contemporary style, so the flat works best for me. However, I would prefer a nice matte finish or a nickel plate finish over chrome. But if my house was a more vintage style, perhaps a Victorian or Rococo design, the ball tip would be preferred.

That looks like it belongs in an Asian household.

I like the design and finish but it would clash with the molding in my house. And I still maintain that ball tip is superior to flat tip.

Brass is a good choice for classic beachfront homes. Way better in coastal air.

With darker doors, I would definitely say chrome. It looks nice on that door. But on lighter shades, you'll want to go with brass. Why do you think so many beach homes are painted sharp, light colours?
