beer is usually cheaper and easier to get. most gas stations, convenience stores, supermarkets, even walmart and target sell beer now. At least in my state, liquor stores have to be a separate building and they have stricter hours of sales laws. I couldn't go to the liquor store at 11:30-12 at night and buy vodka, but i can go up to the 24hr store at like almost any time of day with as little as $5-6 and buy enough beers to at least get drunk for the night
