Exactly how difficult would it be, or is it possible, to release music and achieve a modest amount of fame without ever letting on your identity? What if an anonymous person released multiple albums of the highest quality of metal, rap, and electronica? Produced in a home studio, released anonymously, a company formed through an alias.
Would you become so famous that society would hound you until they saw your face?
Without signing to a label no one would ever hear your shit music, no one would care, you would eventually die and be forgotten as though you never even lived
Elijah Sanchez
this.
Also, been making music for 15 years, got literally thousands of downloads and plays plus some barnstar awards. I made music ranging from jazz to dubstep. I'm still completely unknown to most humans in existence.

On the contrary, I've basically been in a dungeon for the past fifteen years. Composing. I've mastered all instruments, and all styles. I was taught at a young age by my dad, who was a composer.
It sounds so trippy that I almost have to talk to Cred Forums about it.

>the gorillaz >deadmau5 >sia
its possible.

This already exists, it's called Folk music
Parker Long
ive been heard by millions of people.
nobody knows the hell i am though lol.
dont worry user u wont get too famous.
Isaiah Perry
That's completely fine, I do not seek the fame, but I know it would come. If you post your music, I know it will be shit. Mine is literally perfect. Every song is perfect. I know this thread will go to its grave now and I probably welcome it, as this is a useless endeavor for me, but it is what it is.
Really, what I seek with this thread is the same thing I sought every time I made this thread the past few years. Fame without the fame. Identity without identity.. ala Cred Forums.
Kayden Campbell
Kanye West confirmed.

Do you mean something like Daft Punk or something completely anonymous? It could be pulled off but you'll need to be extremely careful about it. You'll probably want to use different names and masks for the different genres too.
Samuel Davis
dont listen to this faggot. theres really successful music out there that are not on labels. just look at the reggae genre. most of those bands stand completely against huge labels and selling out. also take a look at the huge indie music scene. its big man.
but if you want superstar drake amounts of fame. u need a label.
Robert Gutierrez
Your 64bit techno will never get famous
Leo Jenkins
you can't "master" arts, moron. Art is created by the very virtue of human creativity; you can't master creativity.
The only thing one can master is the size of the faggot he is. You already achieved perfection in that, OP.
Nathan Bell
Yeah, I may do it that way I'm not sure yet. Yes, completely anonymous all the way until death.. and beyond. Not sure I'll do it at all. I may never release anything. I have already literally thrown thousands of songs into a fire.
Jonathan Nguyen
Never heard more inane pile of bullshit in my life. OP, you just made a new record (pun intended).
Jordan Cox
If you're referencing the "Old Masters", perhaps it's the time for new ones.
Haha. Top kek.
Yeah I know. I would never make reggae because it isn't a part of my culture and would thus be disingenious.. or however that's spelled.

I recorded this the other day... Outro guitar solo to a piece. Just wait for thirty seconds in.
Jack Thomas
Tell me again, I can't hear it enough >:)
Interesting, bro.
Lol what?
Logan Walker
Nope. I'm referencing the fact that the way you express verbally exclusively point at schizophrenic with no actual musical skill instead of an accomplished artisan.
Jackson Reed
Very pretty. I listened to the whole thing. Kind of sounds like a VST, though?
William Rivera
>it isn't a part of my culture and would thus be disingenious only niggers and jamaicans will care. but theres nothing stopping you from making whitey reggae catering to white suburb kidsi all over the nation.
just look at those fags who did that "why u gotta be so rude" song
u think these fags are oppressed by white folk and their white bible?
Dylan Barnes
Sign me up let's be famous
Landon Ortiz
Its hard as hell to sell music online, but easy to remain anonymous if you lucked out and went viral. You could also win the lottery or get hit by lightning, the chances of which are more likely than selling music.
Brody Jenkins
VST?

Haha oh right. I'm glad we shared this schizophrenic moment, then.
Yeah I could, but if my soul isn't intact, then I will eventually choose to reveal my face, and it will all be for nothing..
Noah Rogers
uh oh, someone doesn't know how charts and record sales work apparently...
the result of "Mastering the Arts" is not always as popular as "Appealing to the Masses".
Pink Floyd was arguably one of the most influential Experimental Jazz-Rock Fusion groups of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and they won a Single Grammy award for a song on their last album for Instrumental. (They actually won 3, but the last two are Hall of Fame awards.)
PF have sold a lot of records, and toured a lot of cities. Are they the greatest? No. Are they the worst? At times. They sold a lot of records though, so record companies would have promoted them.
Point is, there's a huge difference between being a virtuoso at some instrument, and being popular with a crowd and selling out shows or reaching triple-platinum over 2 decades.
If the "art" is to hold a populace in the palm of your hand, then mastering it means sales.
Oliver Wright
I know what genre you've mastered.
CRINGE MENTAL
Carter Flores
Zhu was anonymous for a really long time. You could probably do it
Jordan Long
your rambling makes no sense. Check the dictionary for the definition of the word "art" before throwing non sequiturs left and right; currently you're using a made-up and false definition of a word to prove a fallacious point that's completely unrelated to the thesis you're trying to discuss.
tl;dr

Well, I would definitely be starting a cult. So when or if you see it, feel free to join. But it won't be me unless the music is perfect.. and even untrained musicians know what perfect music is. I'm not sure how we forgot. That's a big part of the trippy aspect of it.
It wouldn't be that hard to go viral. One man with dedication could distribute a few thousand CDs over a long weekend.
Yes, that is indeed "Very". I like it. Ever thought about singing..?
Camden Stewart
Bucket head is pretty successful if that answers your question.
Thomas Moore
Occasionally. I don't know how many songs I've written, like....with singing. But I'm not "there" yet. I'll get there one day, when I'm living comfortably, ya know? I'm not where I want to be in this world and I don't want that to come off in lyrics and voice. I need to be at peace before I engage ideas and themes.
Daniel Scott
Oh yeah and VST is an old file format for a program I used to use called Synthfont. It's Virtual Sound.. something. I can't remember what the T stands for tbh.
Lol I have definitely mastered cringe. That should be my alias. "Cringe".
Tbh fam, I could totally do it. I just felt the need for validation from the one true source - Cred Forums. Thank you for that.
Aww shit.. did I start a debate on art? Because I'm not participating, just so you know.. Well, thanks guys. I appreciate the thread. I make this thread about once a year and this is by far the most traffic it has ever gotten. Maybe you will hear me soon :)
Hunter Morales
>It wouldn't be that hard to go viral. If that were the case everyone would already be doing it. >One man with dedication could distribute a few thousand CDs over a long weekend. And 999 of them are thrown away before even being listened to, the other 1 is listened to for 58 seconds then thrown away. Bands are giving away music every day and don't go viral or make tons of money you lunatic.
Ethan Sanchez
Totally.. you can email me at [email protected] if you want any advice. I know exactly what you mean.
No difficulties whatsoever, you just make an alterego and thats what gets publcized, you can even pay an actor to pretend to be you
Alexander Jones
that's exactly why I didn't follow my hobby, I don't want fame and/or expose my private life and without fame and being public you can't have success, at least on my shitty country
Gabriel Allen
Yes, duh, of course it is possible. Why do you need me to tell you that? Ask yourself because I feel you already know the answer. Look into your reasons for asking this.. face those doubts and fears. It's the only way.
Jayden Scott
This post is entirely b8. To think otherwise would require party B to have major cognitive disabilities.
Jordan Anderson
>mine is literally perfect Did you just take music theory 101 or something? Get your head out of your ass
Elijah Gray
Even if you did make music worthwhile, just know that this online persona you're showing us is completely void of respect, and to be quite frank I don't believe you deserve recognition with this type of pretentious attitude. You sound like an asshole.
Nicholas Nguyen
HRY GUIS ITS OP HAHA YOU FAGS THOUGHT I WAS SERIOIUS? JESUS CHRIST YOU PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DUMB! SAD! > VERY SAD!!!!!
Asher Murphy
You ent some tortured artist Steve jobs inspo story turned into an autobiographical major motion picture 30 years after your death. You aren't humble, you aren't talented if you claim to be godlike, you are trash. Just trash. Kill .
