my advice is sketch lines on a separate layer draw the guy's form as a sketch then do the line art on the top layer "that's assuming your using a program that supports layers" i tend to do 2 or 3 sketch line revisions before finalizing the detailed finished lines and shading

That's actually really good advice. I'm always delaying drawing humans because I know learning the anatomy is hard. Do you think gesture drawing is enough to learn it, or do should I follow complex guides on anatomy?

gesture guides are dope, and give a lot for "free", but knowing basic human anatomy is key too. Just make it a goal to learn origo and insertion on one major muscle a day, such as the pectoralis major originates at the middle of the chest, then inserts at the upper arm. Really helps to use what you see and construct drawings.

To an extent it's very good to know what's going on underneath the skin and what causes certain appearances and shapes of the structures of the body. Learning as little as the basics of bones and muscles helps you to better visualize the anatomy of the body as you're drawing

Now what you have to understand is that I love me some skulls, and I love me some skull masks, but this guy is straight up reaper. Even without the mask he would look like reaper. Now what you should be caring about is originality in the character's design and personality. Going the edgy route is great and all, but this is just reaper. Point is, don't make reaper.

the guy's name is sidhe. he was an angel, but came to earth and possessed a doll just to interact with humans normally. his aura allows the doll to change as a human's would, so he likes to grow his hair.

in the (my) world, some humans, when they die, come back and are reborn instilled with a power. sidhe spends his time seeking and training those people with their powers, or removing their powers from them.

fjord is another character of mine, who had the power in him from birth- something that's super duper mega ultra rare maybe. sidhe meets him and decides to stick with fjord for the long run

fjord dies, and the world gets taken and run by a shady group of dudes so he becomes a viligante

fjord comes back because whatever fuck it angelz shit
