I wouldn't think he was very smart if he wasn't making sure to surround himself with a strong team. It's the only way to do the job but when it comes to captaining the ship he really does know what he is doing. He is a principled man (wether you like his principles or not) and always knows what he is talking about. Him having speech writers (it's not like he doesn't have any input and will always co-write them) and smart people helping come up with policy and solutions is just part and parcel. No single person can effectively be President without help. The fact that Trump THINKS he can is worrying. Then again, Trump is a intellectual featherweight compared to Obama.
