I don't need to be the best player in a room of 16 teenagers in some pointy shooty to be happy.
I'd prefer coop gameplay with friends like payday, gungeon, and terria.
Videogames are not a competition, very few are ever recognized as 'pro gamers'. They are a time killer and/or something you experience.
Leaderboards reset, servers are shut down, game communities die. Except an extremely small percentage who win money, I have no idea why people play videogames to win against other people.
