The thing about maximalism is that it's hard to design and maintain. It's difficult to do it right, but if you can pull it off, hooo boy it's comfy as fuck. You'll probably never want to leave your home.
BUT it's really, really easy to fuck it up and let it become straight-up cluttered and/or a case of extreme hoarding.

Minimalism is much, much easier to care for but again, it's also easy to fuck up. If you go too minimal, you'll just end up like pic-related. It's not a good look, having absolutely nothing to your name. Minimalism can also be comfy, but again, it's easy to do it wrong. If you do it right, it actually makes your life a lot easier and simpler.
Minimalism isn't good for people who have a lot of stuff and are NOT willing to give any of it up under any circumstances. Even if they do bite the bullet and throw some stuff out, they won't be happy. Minimalism just isn't for them. Minimalism is only for when you feel as though you have too much stuff and it's getting in the way and you want it gone.

It just depends on what you're willing to take care of.

That's minimalism. People think 'minimalism' is living without; making sacrifices in order to basically live in an empty box. That's not what it is. It's the act of living without excess; having everything you need and being happy with that.
