It was an amateur Olympics. If NHL players were allowed Canada could have sent almost all of the Canadiens or Islanders.
The red army team was overrated. They only ever beat teams in exhibition games, or Canadian teams that never played with each other, but still won half the time. A one game playoff, big whoop.
NCAA vs Red Army is nothing compared to a Czech team with domestic players winning against NHLers.
