Anyone else kinda feel sorry for hamilton?
My expert analysis has diagnosed him as a classic racing autist.
But because he has dark skin due to some african heritage, society and the cultural pressures that USA mainstream media puts out across the world dictate that he has to be "cool" and "black". This is compounded by the fact that he is also a highly succesful sportsman and a celebrity. So the poor autist is doing his best to do that but he just wants to be a soft spoken british kid that races cars.

Like imagine the average Cred Forums NEET on the autism spectrum possibly with a little bit of generalized anxiety was thrust into the spotlight and became a celebrity for his shitposting. How would they deal with it?

they should have special types of track drying cars that run in a long train for the necessary 7-8 laps to dry the track before giving the f1 cars a standing start so we don't lose any laps

The rule changes for next season say that after the track has been dried up from the cars driving behind the safety car, it will come in and the cars will line up for a standing start

...

yeah, but those laps will count toward the race total though

sure, but better than the shit show of this season

>over G penalty
F1 doesn't have to worry about that.
Their dainty F1 brakes fall apart without constant lifting and coasting.

>OverG penalty
that's doesn't seem right

what's the unfair advantage gained? or is it unsafe?

Part of it is safety part of it is to force discipline to stay on the racing line.
The course is designed in a way so that you wouldn't have to turn that sharp to make the corner. But if you make a mistake earlier you can make up for it by turning sharper and gaining laptime. But if you took the proper entry you wouldn't have to turn sharp enough to pull enough G-forces past the limit.

It's there for safety and to make it more difficult for the pilots.

Modern F1 pit strategy is retarded now.
With 3s tyre changes the overall pit lane time is all that matters. As long as you have a 20s gap to cover the pit lane time, you can pit whenever you want.
Singapore was supposed to be Mercedes worst track and Red Bull's best because of the lack of long straights negates the power unit advantage. And Mercedes at their worst still put the beatdown on Red Bull & Ferrari at one of their best tracks.
Ricky tried at the end with the fresh tyres but Rosberg increased the fuel mix and wasn't challenged. so it didn't matter.

...

is an tricycle a athlete?

how did they see?

since i know all of you want it badly here's a better quality screenshot.

Nico doesn't get any respect because a chunk of his success was after the switch to turbo hybrids. So he looks like the ultimate carbabby.

>The most efficient driver in F1.
>implying this is a bad thing

Nico is not the hero we deserve, but the one we need right now

>F1 used to be on the BBC
>now the BBC is on /F1/

They don't.
Button says you have to look through the post in the center so it makes you kind of cross-eyed.
Halo testing is a farce. It makes the vision worse and it's not safer. Clearly the FIA is scrapping the idea for an "improved" version later on that's going to be completely different. They just want the drivers to use it publicly in FP1 to make it look like they are taking action for safety.

It's got a post right in the middle where you have to look and the gaps mean the rollhoop can deflect debris downwards towards your head. Clearly it's an engineering failure.

Also because he isn't an edgy or relatable personality, he's just some emotionless rich dude who doesn't even seem to particularly love driving F1, let alone for a dominant team.

He also occasionally shows flashes of "What the fuck are you doing", like random dips in performance, shitty wheel to wheel racing, complete lack of judgment (Austria for example)

On a good day I would say he is actually the best qualifier on the grid aside from maybe le tricky australian, unfortunately his good days aren't every weekend. And he is probably the best aside from Vettel from driving a controlled race and setting exactly the times the team wants etc. Too bad that isn't a very hypeable or exciting quality and unfortunately it's basically all that is wrong with F1.

They could make the Halo out of durable plexi or some other see through material. But they won't. There's also 100 better solutions to this problem but they'll go ahead with the Halo anyway.

This is the FIA. Did people somehow forget that only this season we had the astronomical failure of elimination quali? The teams specifically told FIA that it would be shit, everyone knew it would be shit, they went ahead with it anyway. Then they tried to fucking keep it even though it was clear from the get go that it was completely shit. This is what FIA is. They come up with ideas, then they'll stick to them unless they receive so much public backlash and pressure from external parties that they have to do something about it. And then they just revert back to the old system or something slightly less shit, pretend like the whole episode never happened and learn absolutely nothing from it and keep exactly the same people in charge.

Unfortunately the halo is going to be such a prominent part of the car design that you can't just remove it mid-season once they introduce it, and they will stick with this if it kills the sport.

>he's just some emotionless rich dude who doesn't even seem to particularly love driving F1
a lot of the time, yes, but he seemed sincerely happy and excited after the Singapore race

is the NicoWinsLOL era upon us?

Plus the fact that he's only beaten Nakajima and a senior citizen in his career. Yes he did not beat Wurz, but even if he wasn't exactly slower, it's just fucking Wurz anyway

BENIS

He did beat Wurz, though. He might beat Hamilton this year.

lolno

Is this supposed to count as overtaking?

Pounding around behind Mercedes and now Red Bull wasn't the plan for this season. Lewis started in the back and got a podium, Vettel started from the back and only managed 5th.

FIA ANNOUNCES WORLD MOTOR SPORT COUNCIL DECISIONS

fia.com/news/fia-announces-world-motor-sport-council-decisions-3

>The World Motor Sport Council confirmed changes to Appendices 6 and 8 of the 2017 F1 Sporting Regulations which clarify outsourcing arrangements and conduct permitted regarding Listed Parts, Non-Listed Parts, wind tunnel testing and personnel transfer between teams engaged in a working or developmental relationship.

>A new procedure regarding wet weather starts was also accepted. From 2017, if a safety car is deemed to be required for the beginning of a race due to wet weather, a normal standing start will occur once the track is deemed safe to race. The process will see the safety car return to the pit lane and the cars assemble on the grid for the start.

>Drivers must continue to present their helmets in substantially the same livery at every event of the FIA Formula One World Championship for easy recognition of the driver in the car, however a driver will now be allowed one event (such as a home race) for a special livery (at the driver’s choice). Drivers will also be allowed to change their helmet liveries if changing teams during the season.

>During any single event, if a driver introduces more than one of a power unit element that is subject to penalty, only the last element fitted may be used at subsequent events without further penalty. This is to prevent the stockpiling of spare power unit elements.

>For the first five events of the 2017 Championship season only, the normal team selection procedure for tyres will not be used as the deadline occurs before pre-season testing. For these events the supplier will allocate two sets of the hardest compound specification, four sets of the medium compound specification and seven sets of the softest compound specification to each driver.

>Listed Parts, Non-Listed Parts
oh shit it sounds like they are trying to crack down on Haas and all the other "junior customer teams", like Manor now with Mercedes and Toro Rosso, Red Bull.
I'm glad they changed the tyre selection procedure, that makes sense. It was retarded trying to select your compounds for the race before testing.
and the helmet livery rule is gay. We know who the drivers are we don't need them to use the same helmet to recognize them. You should be allowed to change helmet design whenever you want. Or at least 2 exception races.

How fucking crazy did you have to be? At least by the mid-80's F1 had become a legitimized thing where death wasn't the expected outcome of every weekend. I'm pretty sure the drivers from the 50-60's were just made from a different material than current humans and the dudes from the 70s and 80s were just filled with 10x more testosterone than the average male of 2016

but that's the quote.
commentators bring it up all the time when people complain about the current state of F1.

This is now a 2007 thread

Another problem with contemporary F1 are these energy recovery systems. Brakes used to be just brakes. With their main purpose being to stop the car. But now the main function of the brakes are to charge the battery for the hybrid system and how much kinetic energy you can harvest under braking. The brake system used to be a mechanical linkage but now it's replaced with brake-by-wire and the pedal is attached to an electronic sensor actuator instead.
Previously with KERS the battery (and boost) was smaller and the charge didn't last a whole lap so recharging it was easier, but now with bigger batteries and the MGU-K you have to harvest and charge more per lap.

It made something simple like brakes and turned it into something overtly complex for no reason. Toto and Lowe said the brakes were overheating so that's why they had to manage them since lap 1. If you used larger brake ducts in the setup you could have had brakes that are actually usable and your drivers would be allowed to actually drive and not back off all the time. The drivers can make up for a tenth lost in drag with bigger brake ducts if it means they can push harder and actually use the brakes. what a shit team principal.

>Not even the driver

RIP Kubi, F1 could have done with another ALonso/Ricciardo god tier driver right now instead of meme shitters like Hamilton and Vettel

The racing has become too much about saving components instead of racing. Reliability is always going to be a factor. But when teams are trying to reduce mileage and slowing down to save engines because they don't have enough power units to finish the season, that's fucked up. and teams like Williams or FI can't afford buying more engines. and more grid penalties isn't going to help.

Are there any laws against hosting a vintage F1 TT at the Isle of Man?

This is why I hated Hamilton so much. He was a fucking ass those first few years.

...

Don't worry Guenther all that matters is that we hold position and stay in front of Renault, Sauber, and Manor for the rest of the season.

Nico was the favorite going into the season and after he got off to such a good start. And there were all the media sabotage rumors that Lewis got his WDCs already so Mercedes were going to give it to Rosberg this year. And the AMG bosses switched the pit crews so all the guys that worked with Lewis the year before went to Nico and all of Nico's crew switched to Lewis. So that just fueled the sabotage rumors that Mercedes were favoring Nico.

It also has a profound effect on the way drivers are forced to drive.

I can't be fucked explaining it all because you probably already know, but basically the different engine modes are more to do with how much energy is used and harvested.

E.g. quali mode doesn't harvest any energy and uses it a lot, which is why cars can basically only be turned up to full potential for one lap, because they run out of energy otherwise lol. Teams also have a pre-quali engine mode which just charges up very aggressively to the point that its not something you can use in a race.

I guess this technology will start to be fully usable in like a decade but it's going to take so much money and resources to get it there.

TLDR its retarded bullshit and is going to continue to cost astronomical amounts to develop.

Wouldn't be THAT surprised to see Ferrari pull out as an engine manufacturer because the tech is so irrelevant to what they do and so expensive. Sure Ferrari has money but they don't have Mercedes money and Mercedes is the only one who actualy seems to give a shit about this tech. Ferrari are already spending much more on their engine and on F1 in general than they want to, hence the pressure from Marchionne (not the only reason obviously)

both of these were from the same race during the Monza weekend. This one damaged the barriers, almost hit marshalls, and almost delayed the start of the F1 race while they fixed the barrier.

Yea thats nice and all

Next year though, Renault will be back to midfield minimum, Sauber will probably do OK considering they now have money, Manor are now Merc-Rosso 2.0 and don't want to be a real backmarker anymore and have some money.

Haas will be a legitimate backmarker with 2 drivers who aren't very good at developing cars either.

Bearing in mind that Haas is hardly a "new" team. It's a new investor and owner funding the project but its almost all F1 alumni, in pre-existing locations and factories, and the best they could come up with infinite testing and windtunneling and whatnot is basically a backmarker. They have already shown that people are leaving the team and they have shown incredible inability or unwillingness to fix any problems.

Haas pulls out by 2020, sorry bro. The real question is, does F1 die before that?

...

kek, I remember this, Massa became the first ever driver to receive a 10 place grid penalty for that and Frentzen replaced him in USA

I wish teams would be more open about sharing information about how these Power Units work. It's been multiple seasons and even the Sky F1 guys aren't exactly sure how it works. It would help out the TV audience if we knew what was happening behind the wheel.
There's no way it seems to make these turbo engines look cool. The combination with the aero rules lead to ugly chassis that sound like shit. It kills the coolness factor of F1. Alonso was right. Nobody on the grid enjoys driving these turbo hybrids compared to the older cars.

oh yeah you're right that was the beginning of race stewards giving penalties for causing a collision.

Big Blonde Whale?

Haas have been focusing on the 2017 car since they debuted. They fell off mostly because they haven't been developing this car at all. Plus their budget is actuslly pretty low despite the backing. I doubt they will still be ahead of Renault next year, as Renault are running essentially the 2015 car with a few changes while focusing on 2017 from before this season began. Their ambitions lie further up the grid, top 10 at least. But Saber have no money and even less talent in drivers and staff. Their cars have basically been mobile ballast chicanes for the past 3 years.

Manor are Mercedes engine babbys and are only good at top speed tracks. They're mostly still broke and underdeveloped, though they have talented drivers.

Stock cars are missing out.
They don't do the proper version of Sonoma and they have their own bastardized version of Watkins Glen without the boot.

The ultimate underdog story.
The small one car team owned by a retired late night talk show host that challenges the might of Chevrolet.

F1 wishes it had close wheel to wheel racing like this.

pleb

the interesting guest is the other guy, zak brown.

...

Yeah I didn't notice that until later.
Might actually be interesting for once.

...

...

...

...

blame Piquet Jr.
and that's how you ended up trying nascar.

surprisingly, brown references the afl in the program.

...

Describe this season in one sentence to those who have not watched.

mercedes wins lol

>During 2004, rumors circulated that Häkkinen was making a possible return to Formula One to fill in the vacant Williams seat left by Juan Pablo Montoya. Häkkinen also held talks with BAR and Williams...

How would it have been if Mika came back to F1 in 2004-2005?

>Ricky tried at the end with the fresh tyres but Rosberg increased the fuel mix and wasn't challenged. so it didn't matter.

>>competition
>>F1

Choose one.

windsor links perez with williams in this video.

>Marlins stadium

Must have been an amazing 15 minute story about the time he had lunch with Frank Williams in 1976 at a Formula 2 race, where Frank talked about the Rodriguez brothers, who meant a lot to Mexico, and how it's great that Mexico now has it's own F1 race again.

no, just mentions that he is/was in talks for a seat.

based Sky editors must have got rid of his rambling

They need to shitcan all that bullshit and make the g'damn cars, cars, and not some fucking twats wet dream of what a car should be.

Brakes should be brakes.
The engine should be a fucking fuel injected engine.

Get rid of all the horse shit batteries, recovery systems, and focus on making the cars competitive and cheaper to make so the sport is actually competitive and not just a single team wins shitfest.

F1 blows donkey cock as it stand now.

>The engine should be a fucking fuel injected engine.

Surely they should have pushrods and a carburetor if they want to crack the 'Murican market.

>captcha related

The end of that Texas race was the best open cockpit racing I've seen all year.

F1's a fucking joke...

Ass. Straight up ass.

>Straight up ass.

So you're saying you like it?

You are describing NASCAR. Go watch The Chase.

Those Schumi x Hakkinen adds are max comfy

Williams was shit by 2005 and he was probably rusty. He would have spent 2 or 3 seasons in Williams or other midfield teams before retiring again. Heidfeld wouldn't have received his Williams opportunity and would either leave F1 or join a backmarker. If Hakkinen stayed in Williams, Rosberg would have made his debut later or in a different team.

Best case scenario: Hakkinen joins BMW Sauber and maybe gets a lucky win. Also, their lineup has two former WDCs.

Wasn't he planning on replacing Gimi or Alonso at McLaren for 2007 or 08?

I swear I read one time that he had a test at Barcelona but was 3 seconds off the pace, so he never got the drive

Underrated post

this is amazing

kvyat kills himself lol

>Did people somehow forget that only this season we had the astronomical failure of elimination quali?
kek, I forgot that already. luckily there's nothing about another new quali format in the rule changes for next year. didn't they say they would fuck it up again for next year? thank god they seem to have "forgotten" that plan!

AMD AMX

wtf? I've never noticed that before!

so much color on those overalls. this seems unacceptable in today's F1

don't forget the leaf springs, BoB

That's actually really interesting.

I thought engineers hated when drivers do this though? I remember Massa being told to stop doing it in some race in 2014 or 2015. Different era I guess.

New drivers could probably learn so much if they had access to Schumis data, even brake and throttle graphs like this.

Would have been shit. In a way I am very glad that he actually decided to end his career when he did. Not that many top drivers actually choose to stop driving when still competitive. Kind of preserves the legacy. Imagine if Mika came back and fucked around at BAR getting beaten by Jenson Button or something lol

>thinking its a competition when other teams are pushing as hard as they dare to go and Mercedes are cruising in permanent safe mode, and can lap up to a second faster than anyone else on the field if they wanted to, but they don't and only turn up the car if there is direct need to do so.

If this was a "go hard til the end" era of F1, Mercedes would actually lap the entire field

>I thought engineers hated when drivers do this though?

Schumi got told repeatedly by his engineers to stop using both pedals at the same time during his comeback at Mercedes.

>right foot braking

for what purpose?

Love it when she keeps pubes just saying lads

Kino.

Oh, you meant F1, not GP2? Well, I don't really remember any of it.

In GP Kino news
>Gasly tops Free Practice
>First 6 were in championship order (except Sirotkin, outside top ten)
>Pic Out (Injury) / le Most-Experienced-Man-Ever Ceccoto In
>Only a few of the older drivers have ever been to Sepang, new track for everyone

Did anyone replace Eriksson at Arden?

No, Eriksson's still racing

>Home favourite Nabil Jeffri had a quick spin on his way to 18th, and is Arden's only entry this weekend.

>His erstwhile team-mate Jimmy Eriksson elected to end his disappointing 2016 campaign ahead of Sepang.

autosport.com/news/report.php/id/126402/gasly-leads-giovinazzi-in-sepang-practice

I really hope alpha antonio cucks Gasly out of his "certain" GP2 title, and then Toro Rosso retains Kvyat for another year and Gasly is forced to do a third year of GP2 (making his potential 3rd year title close to meaningless), only to end up getting cucked by his future teammate Charles Leclerc or Luca Ghiotto who go on to win the title

Also,

>Sirotkin

what the fuck is going on with him :DD

Touche
I was going off of the Website's Teams and Drivers list

Having just watched the Drivers Press Conference,

What's the longest a driver has gone in F1 before getting into a good car? I don't mean Mansell finally winning because he spent most of his career in decent to very good cars.

I mean drivers who spent the most time in the midfield and below who ended up getting a good car in the end. Button comes to mind obviously as he spent like 8 seasons fucking around, mostly in utter shit cars, until suddenly Brawn GP.

Wobbler?

>that camera angle

Said it before, and I'll say it again, it's the only way I can appreciate the DW chassis

Patrese - Debut 1978
>Winning Team in 1982 / 3 (Team mate Piquet won title, he was ninth)
>More Shit teams
>Williams in 1988

Barrichello - Debut 1993
>Ferrari 2000

Fisichella - Debut 1996
>Renault 2005

Badoer - Debut 1993
>Made 2 comebacks, went to Ferrari Testing
>Ferrari 2009

Trulli - Debut 1997
>Left 2011 having never been to a top team

Why does Betaberg look so sulky and pissy in the press conference?

>Ferrari F60
>a good car

>Trulli - Debut 1997
>>Left 2011 having never been to a top team

>what is Renault 2004

Toto probably told him be can't win anymore races this year

Trulli performed well in 2004, in fact a little too well ;)

Badoer is also undoubtedly the greatest meme in the history of F1

That's no BBC though

He's lost the psychological battle

>IT'S NOT FAIR!!

Esteban Ocon looks like a 15 year old in the press conference

In a way I could see his point, generally the intra-team driver order stays the same after pitstops. However he obviously didn't have all the information and I highly doubt Merc intentionally just fucked over Lewis because dude germans lmao

Also the way Ted went on about it was actually disgusting, complaining like a child because his favorite driver was getting BTFO

Source?

hey /f1/ rate my sister

>Source?

I watched all the races. His engineer kept telling him "Michael, do not use brake and throttle at the same time". It fucked up something in the car, dunno.

she's a bit cute

the spinning camera is so retarded

>hey we can already see the car next to us but lets spin the camera to see just the car and nothing else that's going on.

not really your sister/10

I hope this lineup is a joke because almost none of it will come true

It seems more likely now that Manor will retain their current lineup for 2017 and there's been hints regarding that coming from Manor, Ocon and Wehrlein. King doesn't have a chance and I am glad .

Few good performances from Kvyat and he will keep his seat. I don't think Helmut Marko actually hates him at all despite what the media seems to suggest.

Logically thinking it probably has something to do with it not being good for the engine, fuel consumption and tire life.

When Richard Hammond drove Alonso's 2006 (i think?) Renault they showed him in the data that he is breaking and accelerating simultaneously and you shouldn't do that. Kind of surprised to see it in that Schumacher data posted above.

I watched them all too m8. I don't remember this

>Logically thinking it probably has something to do with it not being good for the engine, fuel consumption and tire life.

Except for the fact that Ross Brawn always said that Schumacher was excellent with taking care of the engine, tyres, fuel etc
(Sourced from James Allen's 'The Edge of Greatness')

i you skip to 12:30 what was he talking about that happened at the mall where they were trying to 1 up one another......anyone know?

Webber: debut 2002, good car 2009
Boutsen: debut 1983, good car 1989

Badoer could have scored a podium with Minardi in Europe 1999

Sauber and Manor are just gonna pick up whoever pays the most.

Why would Haas switch Gutierrez for someone equally bad and less experienced?

Renault is keeping Kmag.

Williams and Toro Rosso are likely gonna happen.

was there a mental obligation to let hamilton win?

Don't forget McLaren in 1994

Have you ordered Damon Hill's book yet, lad?

What's wrong with his face guys?

Too much punching as a kid

Haven't watched F1 since 2009, has it gone to shit completely or is it still somewhat enjoyable?

I'm not that Ameribro who discussed books with you m8, I'm the Indian in college.

I can't afford to buy the book, even though I'm interested, because college student budget

I still enjoy watching, but people will tell you it's gone to shit. I don't listen to other people telling me what I can or can't like, but I do think this PU era stinks.

I heard this too, the reason stated was that it could cause the engine to stall or something because they hydraulics having to deal with both simultaneously would fuck with it, or the car has an emergency system that cuts throttle if both are applied

Only 1 race hasn't been won by Mercedes, and that was because they crashed each other out. How's that sound?

>I thought engineers hated when drivers do this though? I remember Massa being told to stop doing it in some race in 2014 or 2015. Different era I guess.
in the past it wasn't a big deal because the drivers didn't have to fuel save

in the hybrid era drivers have to lift and coast which means braking at the same time you're applying the throttle is a big no-no as it wastes fuel

b-bbut ricci monac-cco

Sounds like it's 2002 again

are you the 3 door fridge guy? Post fridge!

it's worse than the Schumiwinslol era from 2002-2004 actually

Ferrari has won 78% of all races from 2002-2004
Mercedes has won 89% of all races from 2014-2016

>the most enjoyable moments of the F1 weekend are the two GP2 races

I would be ok with this if GP2 was on every F1 weekend

>only 2 rounds of GP2 left
>the one after this is in ABU DHABI like 2 months away

kill me

>skips GOAT Suzuka
>is on tilkedrome literally where circuits

Pretty depressing honestly

Faggots like you are why this series sucks.

You keep eating all the shit they serve and ask for more.

F1 is a fucking joke, and the sooner "fans" admit that and quit watching this garbage, the sooner those idiots might decide to make the series actually competitive again the way it was back in the day before "SchumiwinsLOL!".

yeah, McLarenWinsLOL and WilliamsWinsLOL was so much fun

>competitive again
>before "SchumiwinsLOL!"
as in?
>Schumi vs pleb willams drivers
>McLarenWinsLol

could we fix /f1/ by..
1. Having a backmarker team funded by GP2 and the FIA that is purely for guaranteed spots for last and 2nd last GP2 champions.
2. Have GP2 races directly before the f1 race
3. force all f1 teams to also field a gp2 team
4. package and sell the GP2 experience and f1 experience as one big holistic experience of gp2 being kino hungry talent driver vs spoiled billionaires-son driver racing and f1 being constructor vs constructor racing where massive corporations throw money and engineers at the retarded car specifications put out by the FIA and these mercenary drivers get paid stupid amounts of money to drive them.
5. GP2 race every damn race weekend. All 21 of them. yes. 42 GP2 races a fucking year

McLaren weren't anywhere near as dominant in 1998 and 1999, they were under constant pressure from Schumacher. Williams only had 1992, 1993 and 1996, every other year they had pressure from Benetton and Ferrari. Hell even if you go back to the original McLarenwinslol that only lasted for 2 years, and at least Senna and Prost were in a title fight.

This season is horribly lacking in on track action between the title contenders even compared to the last 2 years where they'd at least tussle in the races or break down. Now it's nicoleadsfromtheztartandmanagesthegaplol until he inevitably chokes hard and throws the lead he gets, or Hamilton actually has a good start, which hasn't happened all year. Mercedes have won all but 7 races in the last 3 years, and barring strategy fuck ups and reliability issues( and that crash in Spain), they have only really not been the fastest team once, Singapore last year when Vetted took pole and won because they couldn't get heat into their tyres.

youtu.be/BvovA9cjJFo

>McLaren weren't anywhere near as dominant in 1998 and 1999
>original McLarenwinslol that only lasted for 2 years, and at least Senna and Prost were in a title fight
I was talking about McLaren-Honda 88-91 which was 4 years. Also Rosberg and Hamilton are in a title fight; problem is Rosberg isn't actually good, so there's no real fight.

>Williams only had 1992, 1993 and 1996
94-97 they had shit drivers but the a good or the best car; it was literally Schumi in literally a clothes brand or shit Ferraris vs Hill/Villeneuve and Coulthard's mediocrity. The majority of the cars were trash in the 90's and so were most of the drivers. 92 and 93 were WWL. 90's F1 wasn't more competitive then 2000's

I'm there. We internet now.

1992, 2002 and 2004 were all more dull than any of the current MercedesWinsLOL years (it's borderline with 2015 tho)

at least Rosberg can put up some kind of fight unlike Patrese and Barrichello

That McLaren was an utter POS. The Peugeot engine would fall apart al the time. Monaco it nearly ran out of oil, and blew up at the start in Silverstone.

why is it provisional on the calendar?

another Bernie scare tactic to bully Interlagos into a bigger contract?

I don't see your point. Williams only were really dominant in the years I listed, every other year up to 1997 they had serious pressure from Benetton and Ferrari, all because of Schumacher. Even with the best car for most of this period they were still within reach, not like the current year.

I wasn't speaking about the 2000s but now that you mention it, Ferrariwinslol wasn't on this level either, only really 2002 and 2004. Every other year and even in those years other teams did manage wins. When the commentators tried to bullshit you into thinking another team could have a chance, they actually did, not like now where Singapore was hype up for example, as being a bad Mercedes track and Rosberg did his manage the gap thing and won.

This might be a title fight, but at least Prost and Senna were actually fighting, and they were both immensely talented. Rosberg might just end up being one of the worst world champions if he does win, closer to a Villineuve rather than a Schumacher.

autosport.com/news/report.php/id/126398/perez-one-week-to-decide-if-i-stay-in-f1

What is Perez's endgame here?

Of course its just negotiation and its unlikely he would walk, but what is he actually trying to achieve?

He is already confirmed at Force India, I mean this thing has been going on forever and he said like 4 races ago that Vijay wants him and that its basically a done deal except that he needs to figure out what his sponsors (read Carlos Slim) want for him in the future.

One can only assume he is hunting down the Ferrari drive, but Ferrari already have Kimi confirmed for next season. I mean he could be going to Williams as well but... why? Force India are gonna beat them this year and the prestige of driving for Williams is long gone. Doubt Williams would even be that big of a thing anyway.

What sort of 4D chess is the MEXICAN MADMAN playing??

probably

>Rosberg might just end up being one of the worst world champions if he does win

That's a good point, will history condem Hamilton for failing to beat Rosberg?
Or will he just be considered a J. Villeneauve. Someone who had a bit of talent and got lucky with circumstance, with (minimal) criticism of Schumacher for failing to beat him

Moreover, would you rather
>4xChampion; Lewis Hamilton
or
>3xChampion; Lewis Hamilton &
>1xChampion; Nico Rosberg

one team is dominant and we're nearing a new rules change, which looks to be very very good for Red Bull (more aero dependent, more engine development so all 4 engines should become relatively equal)

Also if it is indeed Ferrari, then I am surprised that they want him back considering he kindly told Ferrari to fuck off and joined McLaren in 2013. I know its all business but Ferrari are easily the most emotional team on the grid so it is a bit surprising if they want Perez that badly. Not like Perez is some promising UNSTOPPABLE GOD anyway, he's already been to a top team and although he is driven better since, he has not shown that he is some sort of extraordinary talent.

Ferrari has no shortage of drivers anyway. Technically they have both the Haas boys but they are a lost cause now, they have JEV in the sidelines, they have their own Ferrari academy with Leclerc (who is seemingly going to GP2 after not getting the Haas drive) and Fuoco (no idea what's going on with him but he is doing alright in GP3).

Lets not forget Giovinazzi either. Ferrari obviously have a really hard dick for Italian drivers and Gio is actually seemingly decent, plus is now listed as a "Ferrari Development Driver" according to some sources and tested their simulator etc. Giovinazzi is managed by the same guy who managed Fisichella and also is personal friends with an old Ferrari boss (who basically got him some decent seats in GP3 and GP2). Only thing is that he brings no money except for Indonesian KFC

maybe trying for a move to Renault and gambling on them being capable of a making a race winner in 2-3 years?

though what about the Carlos Slim and Malboro ties?

Renault want him and he's probably not sure whether to take the consistently midfield team, or the back marker works team that may be midfield next year but may or may not be better in the future. I think he should just head to Renault. People keep forgetting, even the drivers, that Enstone know how to build a good car if they have the money. They just need a good engine.

The inherent point I was making was pre-SWL wasn't competitive really. McLarenWinsLol was only competitive between the drivers, no other car could really come close. When he left Prost outdrove the Ferrari in 91 but it was a garbage car and everyone knew it.

94-97 were 'can Schumi beat Williams'. They're was no driver-driver and car-car competition, because frankly Hill/Coultard/Villeneuve weren't on Schumi's level. Hakkinen was but he was in shit McLarens.

I would rather Hamilton win this year, because he's earned it more then the last 2 years. Rosberg basically 2013-Vettel'd his way to his wins and it's just boring.

if he is smart he will go to Renault, Force India is a hit-or-miss, is possible that Force Fndia builds a shitty car next year and his carreer will be over

with Renault at least he will be in a factory backed team

Schumi cruised to like 50 victories, Mansell cruised into his only championship, both Senna and Prost cruised for at least one season

Sure it would be great to have all the title battles go down to the wire with great climaxes but the reality of most WDCs is that its just a lot of unchallenged cruising. The fact that Nico has managed to cruise so many victories against a higher-rated teammate, even in races with no technical difficulties is somewhat impressive itself, even if it makes for utterly boring entertainment.

I don't know if Hamilton has deserved it much more this season. He's only had some bad luck technically but other than that, he would just do what Rosberg does if he didn't choke his starts. Merc won't let the cars battle so its essentially watching Hamilton cruise to victory unchallenged for the 3rd season in a row or watch Rosberg get a semi-deserved WDC despite being something of a no. 2 driver.

Can't really think of many instances where a "no. 2" ended up actually beating their teammate to the title, let alone after losing 2 years in a row. I mean how broken was Rubens or Webber after 2 years of SWL and VWL lol

70's and 80's era F1 had multiple drivers from multiple teams winning races, and it wasn't until the 90's that F1 decided to cuck itself with Jew gold and completely eliminate competition in the series.

The series needs to simplify the cars and get rid of all the extraneous bullshit that makes them so expensive, so that more than one or two teams can afford to be competitive.

Until then, F1 will continue to be a technology procession, instead of a race, only enjoyed by faggots.

I ignore Hamilton celebrity social media presence and tend to just focus on his driving and I like to see good drivers win on merit rather than small issues like not getting the clutch bite and start procedure properly or the reliability issues that almost derailed his title run in 2014. Rosberg is so lucky he isn't getting the Webber or Barrichello treatment otherwise it wouldn't even be a contest. That's probably the only thing keeping F1 alive at this point though, Mercedes manufacturing a title fight by trying to give them both equal treatment.

I just don't like that Rosberg who did nothing but be a solid midfield driver, basically the Hulkenberg before Hulkenberg, is now considered anywhere near Hamilton or any other champion just because he wins in a dominant car when his teammate isn't at his best. This guy was beating the likes of Nakajima and 42 year old Schumacher while Hamilton was winning races and ruffling Alonsos feathers, then Buttons except in 2011 where again he wasn't at his best.

>cuck itself with Jew gold

Stopped reading

The Renault move would seem most logical.

Perez has been around forever but he's actually pretty young. He's only 26, he's younger than Ricciardo, only a year older than Palmer (who is a rookie) and only 2 years older than Vandoorne. I mean Vandoorne is going to be 25 by the time he makes his actual debut which is really old by F1 standards nowadays.

I think Renault have expressed interest in him as well and honeslty it's unlikely that Perez's stock is going to get any higher. Next year could be a shit car and he could fade hard. Now that I think about it, it could actually be Renault that he is waiting for. Magnussen also expressed his impatience recently about Renault not choosing. Bottas also seems to be kind of waiting. So who knows

The supposed problem with Renault is that they haven't really started rebuilding as well as they should have, and are lacking some high profile big name personnel, and Flavio certainly isn't coming back (Flavio himself said that Enstone will never win a championship again lol). And Renault's modest target was 5 years to a championship. Does Perez really want to wait 5 years (or more) or does he gamble with Force India, and maybe then hope he gets into Ferrari once Gimi retires?

I don't know if anyone remembers this, but in Abu Dhabi 2010 the whole reason for Alonso being stuck behind Petrov was that Webber was brought in onto a 2 stop strategy to bait Alonso into coming in as well. Meanwhile Vettel took the title. Red Bull basically screwed over Webbers chances at winning to bait Alonso out of it and give it to finger boy. Tragic back story if there ever was one.

Webber should have just left Red Bull at that very moment.

That's such a stupid argument though. Of course Hamilton's career has been more high profile and flashy because he's been in a race-winning car for every season of his career. He's always been fighting near the top. You can't shine in shit cars really. I mean how many people rated Ricciardo highly at HRT, or even Toro Rosso? I think people thought he was alright, but he ended up destroying Vettel and is now seen as one of the strongest drivers on the grid. Had he never gotten that RB drive he would have just faded and people would remember him as that ok midfielder who didn't really do much. Point is that its a bit useless to compare.

I don't think Rosberg is as good of a driver as Hamilton, but at the end of the day these two drive the same car and both have had good and bad races and are pretty much equal on points.

Do people seriously come up with this many excuses for the Merc-Schumi era? Ok he wasn't at his peak but he was still SCHUMACHER. And he was beaten by Rosberg for 3 seasons in a row. It was Schumi's decision to come back, and its not like he was a completely different driver.

of course I would want for the title battle to be wheel to wheel racing from start to finish but thats obviously not going to happen.

and finland loses again

The way I see it is that as long as Vettel is at Ferrari, only he will win the title if anyone. Kimi could give trouble if they do have a good car but he will quit pretty soon when they inevitably are 3rd behind Red Bull and Mercedes again in no particular order. After that I think they're done with high profile second drivers on huge wages as Kimi has just been doing what anyone could do in that thing. If you want to win a title you do not go to Ferrari to be a second driver. Irvine only had a chance because Schumacher broke his legs, and he still screwed up. And Vettel will still be there in 5 years.

Renault don't need Flavio to succeed. They just need to build a better engine, and bankroll the Enstone lads. They can make make a good chassis and they've been working on 2017 from before this season even began. The current car might as well be last year's car. They should keep Magnussen though, he deserves a good crack at F1 as I don't think his stock is as high as it deserves to be for his solid debut year. Palmer is as good as gone already, probably the least talented driver on the grid including Rio who is no longer with us. Bottas will probably stay put, no way Williams go into next year with 2 rookies.

biggest problem with going to ferrari is that he will be the n°2 driver, question is does he wants to be the in the ferrari n°2? we all know how that ends up

also ferrari will search for a n°2 driver, and i don't think Perez qualifies for that, it could be Bottas, Hulk, Sainz, even Grosjean

Ferrari does not want a driver that challenges Vettel

I know what you mean senpai
But F1 is built off being a race for technological progress. Doesn't matter if one is way ahead
But that doesn't help the racing I know

I wasn't warned. You were.

Maybe Ferrari became secretely redpilled about Vettel and are now just low-key looking for a driver to become their actual no. 1 in a "oops look what happened, how could this be!" kind of way

>predicting Malaysian weather at all

Aren't people usually somewhat aware they're clicking on bait? Like, when you click on any list or blog article?

gg auscunt, thanks for those adbucks

>Webber should have just left Red Bull at that very moment
What would be the point tho? No other top tier team would have him. Staying in RBR was the only way he was gonna ever win a title, because they had the best car.

>Maybe Ferrari became secretely redpilled about Vettel
Ferrari aren't that smart. I expect they'll drop into 4th place next season if Renault/McHonda get they're shit together.

>Hamilton Fans when it's another #Blessed domination and the rain doesn't come

>Maybe Ferrari became secretely redpilled about Vettel

Everyone agrees that Ferrari's strategy decisions this season have been complete and utter shit, not really the driver's fault

Problem with Vettel is that he's not a natural-born leader like Schumi who can turn things around when they go awry like this.

Should F1 put limitations on the angle and width of jaws?

Pretty sure if dry = Nico cruises to victory

if wet = 100% blessed, Hamilton wins by 30 seconds, Nico P4 behind Red Bulls

Hamilton is a rain GOD

Yes.

The Dutch shouldn't be regulating drivers faces

This.

Amx's first raceban when?

I give it 1 season maximum

EPIC

Are they banned from going to real tracks or something?

>FIA
>punishing Max
pick one

Max could crash someone off, pick up a broken wishbone and stab them in the head to death, and he wouldn't even get a drive through penalty.

>Using a major motorway
Good Luck Fuckers. Shouldn't have bothered to be different and used CIrcuit Gilles Villeneuve
Also, pitlane where?

i think cars would look slow AF on real tracks, or maybe is just cheaper close a few streets and race there

nah, the back straight is too long for the current cars

Shoot everyone who tries to implement a 90' corner

>>Using a major motorway

I wonder if they can re-reroute both directions of traffic to the underpass bit.

Also, that tarmac quality.

holy shit number 4. how??

what do you mean? that looks like how it's always been

Turns 7-8 (taken as one double apex corner) is one of the most underrated on the calender 2bh

don't worry, i'm already working on it

t. chicane-herman

check 'em

The first two sectors of the track are fantastic, some of the best Tilke has ever done. Like a good version of Shanghai.

Too bad Turn 9 kills the flow and everything after is pure autismo off camber fuckery, now the final turn is off camber shit as well. Sector 3 might actually be the worst sector on the calendar now. Probably tied with Abu Dhabi S3

>mf if Rahal would have lost it celebrating

Auslads, what do you think of the Newcastle track that's gonna host the v8 Supercars finale next year?

why aye lad, that beach is wee too neece tuh be newcastle, like

>Nobby's Rd

heh

I went to Melbourne today but it wasn't quite as sunny as I expected

So you are 55 years old furious about how F1 will never be like it was before Schumacher? Time to visit a Trump rally and let it all out.

Looks identical to based Adelaide.

what are those meme cars?

Melbourne weather is a shit show. It gets sunny around Jan-Feb pretty consistently, but our spring is almost always 4 seasons in a day.

Radical SR3

you're thinking of the wrong melbourne

Git gud at contextualizing then scrub.

best history: Ferrari or McLaren
legit best: Force India because they're absolute madmen

>which team is the worst?
slowest: Manor
stupidest: Ferrari or Sauber
most disappointing: Williams

also most boring:
Mercedes

watch every season review, starting with 1984 and working toward the present

>slowest: Manor
it's Sauber/Renault now

Technically I think Manor are actually the fastest consistently in the speed traps as well.

acestream works as a standalone lad. why install vlc as well?

huh, when i first downloaded it /f1/ told me to make sure my vlc was up to date as well because acestream needed it to work

did it change or has it never needed vlc?

acestream is a fork of vlc, kek.

>how do i into f1?

Don't bother.

There's zero competition, and not much difference between a qual session and an actual "race".

The fuck is this maplenigger talking about?

That can be so easily "fixed" I can do it
Blue=Existing course
Red= Suggested alternative
Pink=Alternative routes / extentions
Green=Car Parks that may become pit lanes

It's clear that the original course wanted to use the car park on the north side of the Radio-Canada station. So why not move it slightly north where there are more car parks and still businesses so that you don't interrupt housing. Also AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, you Don't hit the Motorways.

Traffic on non-motorways can be diverted, but there proposed route would cut off a 1 mile of underground motorway diverting traffic through the city (see inset). The worst part is that it'll divert past the Uni and Hospital.

>Formula E delays-ambulance-leading-to-death when?

i found this on plebbit while googling montreal formula e, it uses a bit of the same track and it a better layout than the official one imo

reddit.com/r/RaceTrackDesigns/comments/4t1mzl/montreal_formula_e_circuit/

>Which university are you in?
Fuck it, it's not like anyone will find me. I'm at Purdue
And yes, not lonely anymore. Basically just had to settle in, and the ungodly amount of homework taking up my hours did the rest.
Did you make the mistake of eating street food? 99% of that garbage is inedible.
Also, where'd you go?

In fairness I'd back that one
It still blocks the motorway, but frees up a major route on the other side of the radio station
Also there's wide enough inner roads to make it more technical

Kek

Its a marketing stunt.

>Formula E is zero CO2 racing, hence we can do it in the middle of the city

>Pretending 2013 points mean anything under the current regulations
>Not ignoring DNF's
Oh Sky

Face it, Hamilton has the history to Win - Malaysia / Japan / USA
While Rosberg will win at Mexico and Brazil
Abu Dhabi is anyones guess

>Rosberg will lead by a single point going into Abu Dhabi

Forgot Picture

>Did you make the mistake of eating street food? 99% of that garbage is inedible.
No, it was in a bar/restaurant. Very hot chicken tikka and some other stuff. There was also a suspicious cocktail which might have done it. It's not fun when you vomit and bits of partially digested spicy food end up in your nostrils.
>Also, where'd you go?
I had to go to Delhi (saw the aftermath of a serious truck wreck), Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

>>Rosberg will lead by a single point going into Abu Dhabi

>Rosberg passes Hamilton on track to get more points and become champion

I wonder how they can afford all of those locations though. A lot of big cities that have to have huge areas closed down for days

Stands are small and rarely even full, is it even shown on TV anywhere? Their youtube videos get like ...a couple of thousand views, fanboost is just a bunch of autismo fans and people trackside being bored

Maybe its an "investment for the future" but I cant imagine cities like New York, Berlin, London, Paris, Beijing etc just let them host the races for free

>F1 developing based heads up displays in helmets so I can watch anime while riding my motorcycle when

>Rosberg passes Hamilton on track
has this ever actually happened?

what the utter fuck

Thats got to be one of the most retarded comparisons ever

Plus all that seems to matter this year is whether you choke the start or not, Im starting to think Mercedes do it intentionally to avoid another Spain episode

It's also seemingly so momentum-driven. If Nico wins like 2 races he is unstoppable, if he loses 1 race he is dead inside and takes like 4 rounds to recover

Hopefully it does stay close until Abu Dhabi though

is Blyat dare I say off suicide watch?

>Plus all that seems to matter this year is whether you choke the start or not
Pretty much. The race (between the Mercs) is decided in the first 20 seconds.

TMW Rosberg knows this and is overtaken by Hamilton at the start at Abu Dhabi, resulting in German rage and another Spain when they get to the chicane

reminder that Merc manage them both with fake "issues" to keep them apart
reminder that this would not be possible without the team radio which the FIA tried to ban but people got butthurt

Why aren't there more anticlockwise circuits?

Postponed until end of season when he goes back to junior karting

>>>/turnleft/

Not enough fans from backwards countries

there used to be only clockwise circuits because i don't know why (maybe because of the side of the road that different countries drove on?)

then a couple of anticlockwise circuits came about and the drivers said they hate them because they aren't used to it and so it puts too much strain on the weaker part of their neck

nowadays it doesn't matter much because more anticlockwise circuits have slowly been added

It doesn't have to be restricted to two turns.

>Why would Haas switch Gutierrez for someone equally bad and less experienced?

Because Nasr brings a fuck load of money. And they might be able to poach Brazilian sponsors from Williams now that they'll have no Brazilian driver in their team.

:^)

But I want 50fps

Not using superior south circuit

That was bad. And putting maldonano face everywhere is bad too. But other than that, it's good

The Formula One Indoor Trophy or Trofeo Indoor Formula One was a non-championship Formula One sprint held at the Bologna Motor Show between 1988 and 1996. Despite having Indoor in the name of the race, the race was staged outside.

>FP1 not on for another 4 hours
Best being watching some cute girls doing cute things to pass time then l/a/ds

That race in 1996 was the last time we had a non-championship Formula One race.
>20 years ago - That's older than some of us here

At least make them /f1a/ related

It is always live here

Why aren't non championship races a thing anymore? Would be cool and be useful for teams. Back in the 50s and 60s there were like 40 each year.

Teams didn't want to risk their precious fragile cars in races that meant nothing.
The teams in the Indoor Trophy were back of grid who-cares. Minardi won it for the first three years for god sake.

I'd love them back, but you'd have to do them at the end of the year with old cars and minimal budget. Might as well use it as an excuse to put your young / test drivers in to give them car experience before the new season

>Artificial titanium skidblocks generating fake sparks

There are so many layers of stupidity in this one, seemingly innocuous post it's mind boggling.

It's not. It is a plugin, but nowadays they provide a "package" which is just VLC + acestream software.

Which by the way is illegal since VLC uses the GPL v3 license which means it cannot be issued with proprietary software attached to it

happy birthday to you too then

All this talk about Vettel being the number 1 driver when he's just 5 points ahead of gimi.
There's a very real chance that gimi, given his current form, could finish above Vettel.
Will Ferrari demote Vettel to number 2 if that happens this season or will they drop the driver number 1 and 2 shtick
