This rationale is in line with using friends as a means to an end to get with women. You shouldn't get friends because you think having friends would score points with women. You should have friends because it's good to have a social life. It'll make you feel better about yourself having buddies to hang out with, talk to, relate to, etc. It also expands your scope of things to do, places to hang out in, and more people to meet. And on top of that, go figure, it also makes it easier to meet and talk to women.
