Guys, I'm very concerned. I was looking through the physical abilities of my regens and noticed that all the ones at my height (180cm) weighed at least 2 and a half stone more than me so I checked and apparently my BMI is 14.5
I'm trying to cure myself now by feeding my anorexia through the game. For example I am 'bingeing' by signing lots of regens then 'purging' by selling them for low returns. I hope it works as a replacement. To replace always thinking about food I have renamed my regens as food names so I am always thinking about them instead.

Well the latest GTA wasn't "that big". It was even bigger, and by a significant margin. High resolution textures for kits and overall graphics takes a huge space. And if you compress that stuff hard, it means that you'll spend hours "installing it" (actually decompressing stuff). Unfortunately for you, game sizes are indexed on BR disks sizes, even if there are barely any BR releases on PC.

It must be the switch to Frostbite caused the sudden jump in size. It's a phase of an ongoing trend amongst big labels, namely, the switch to in-house engines that's used exclusively by their own developers and usually supported by a dedicated tech team. At EA, that's Frosbite + repi & co.
Also, there was a paradigm switch with the arrival of curr-gen consoles (which is top priority even for most multiplatform devs): DVD got replaced by Blu-Ray and performance suddenly increased, so assets got much bigger. That's why (e.g.) 2K's NBA went from 8GB to 50GB in a single year.

John Howard
They've literally never gotten a bad reaction from the players for me so I don't care.
Joseph Nelson
thank you based results between teams scared by how easily everything can go to shit maybe devs would've gone for bigger requirements on PC earlier if they weren't constrained by 7th gen console limitations (namely 360, didn't PS3 have BR in them from the get go) and too lazy to put extra effort into making the PC ports nice thru such asset expansion > I like letting the assman do that talking when playing FM10 before my manager lrns2speak the local language, because I can still fix his fuckups then again, there were a lot fewer options back then (usually 5, iirc)
Then I don't care too much about tactics when I know they make sense. I just hand warnings, fines and hairdryers until they start making the tactics work.
Angel Nelson
Yeah I don't need to waste my time with that micromanagement when I still get convincing results with my tactics. I've literally only lost one tournament out of 5 including the euros and confed cup with Ireland lol.

Absolutely, but since 1) consoles are easy money 2) R&D are almost non-existent for PC gaming 3) serious software limitations (mostly, lack of low-level APIs) exist it's not surprising consoles are the standard in a multiple sense. At least HW obsoletion incredibly slowed down on PC.
Makes sense. It's just funny to imagine a bunch of lads who just cemented their names in football history and obviously walking on cloud nine, then some dude in the middle trying to cautiously praise them.
>tfw you realise this is the only aspect of the game what Miles is actively developing year after year
So that's what he meant under the 1500+ new features.
William Rodriguez
>lack of low-level APIs Low level is fine for consoles moreso than PC. DX11 basically was assigning everything on its own. DX12 tells the dev "now it's your job to assign everything perfectly". Potentially you could have slightly better optimization with DX12, but you need the dev team to actually give a fuck or be comfortable with DX12 at all. Else, this happens. >youtube.com/watch?v=-PK55-kCviA
On consoles, low-level shit is more valuable to milk everything possible from the hardware. Kinda why multi-platform titles looked better on X360 but exclusives were prettier on PS3 due to way CELL is.
>tfw you realise this is the only aspect of the game what Miles is actively developing year after year There were some worms in the pictures files of FM16 after all. There's no fucking way in hell I'll ever pay for the possibility to play the demo.
Jaxon Lopez
>only one of the twelve teams in CFA's combined relegation zone is not a reserve team ffs Belfort >the three reserve teams that are not in the zone are either very close or incapable of being in there without dislodging a reserve team why do Spanish B teams seem to work whilst German and French ones suck horribly?
Michael White
when you murderball too hard
Brody Torres
There's no such thing. The fine is a badge of honour
Brody Sullivan
There's no proper CFA in the vanilla game. CFA is unplayable, CFA2 is completely simulated and below that you have the unplayable division. Also, Spanish B teams are actually a separate team with an affiliation to the main squad who can play up to D2. French reserves can only play as high as D4, which is just one division in FM, one you can't play in. To have any semblance of working reserves teams, you'd need a 10+ levels db, down to local district football.
Wyatt Williams
>There were some worms in the pictures files of FM16 after all What makes you say this?
Chase Nelson
The guy/team who attempted to crack it said so. it was hilarious, you basically had a new version of the crack almost every two days.
Aaron Sullivan
I know, but I mean why do reserve teams who are not separate clubs suck in-game in regards to game mechanics too much main team intervention and lack of team chemistry due to player switching/movement?
Logan Hill
>call up player >sit him for 4 weeks >don't play him at all >send him back down Why isn't he helping the team?
Isaac Anderson
"Realism." When I had a save in France low-leagues with Le Mans, I literally went into the db to get rid of my reserve squad and replace it with a separate "B" club instead. There's two big, significant advantages compared to reserve teams. One, you can put a proxy manager in there and force them to play a player in a given position/role. Because the reserves coach may retain your formation, but he may not retain the roles (just watch your youth trial matches if you want any evidence of that). Two, since it's a separate club, the players in there do play first team football. And hence, they never complain about not playing first team football to you, the manager of the main team.
Moreover, in FM16 compared to FM15, the B team comes to bug you about unfit players automatically and you don't have to micro-manage that at all. So yeah, ask Miles. B/II teams are just superior, and Spain allows you to exploit them as much as possible because they play higher level football than in Germany (country that does use similar B teams as Spain) or France.
Adam Hall
Talking about db fuckery, I now know why I couldn't propose full time Backup contracts or why Scouts would initially ask for a Part Time contract. And also why youngsters wouldn't want to come because I somehow wasn't able to give them full time deals. All that despite the nation's rules and league being fully Pro. And that's in the vanilla db. Thanks Miles. So much for the all-mighty and powerful Editor.

I don't know exactly how the calculation works, but it's something like >continental rep - will only trigger it if your team is really shitty >worldwide rep - can trigger it for any club players from korea/japan/china seem to have a much lower threshold, so signing a continental-rep japanese guy can result in a marketing boost even if you're man united

Scouts, not so much because you'll ideally focus on loans from bigger clubs, especially through affiliations. Physios however... 24 teams per league, 1 or 2 cups in the season... There will be injuries. Don't need too many of them but you have to factor them in.

I want to do a Director of Fooball challenge. I don't have much time to play now that I have a job, and with this I could save time on transfers and scouting. It's also something that I was curious about forever, I just wonder how the game plays/how it works out with a DoF in charge and if it is any fun at all.
In the challenge, I'll use a DoF. I may pick out the best DoF I can find, but other than that, I'm not in charge of anything that is not training and coaching the players. I pick the tactics and to the training etc, but the actual management of the club is done by the DoF. He does contract talks, he hires and fires staff, he does transfers; basically, he manages the club. I'm ONLY in charge of making the best out of the situation I'm given.
I'm hoping that this will make the game more challenging. Scouting great talent and becoming a top club is too easy in this game, no matter who you start out with. But this way, the playing field is leveled - with the DoF, it's not just the other clubs that are managed badly, holding on to old and shit players for too long, not adressing their weaknesses etc - it's your team, too. Winning anything should be hard as fuck with this, because the tactics are literally all you have to gain yourself a small advantage.
It will also give meaning to big clubs etc. I don't really switch clubs in my saves - why would I waste my legacy to go to a plastic club when I can just bring my club to that level? But with the bad AI management, that won't be possible anymore - I'll have to do my very best to get to the likes of PSG, City, etc, so that I can have an outside shot at winning the CL.
Adrian Miller
Considering the AI is also terrible at tactics, it's still not gonna be much of an issue.
Julian Hill
it's Art, I don't think the AI is that much worse at tactics than he is
Eli Smith

I just wonder - what league should I start out with? Maybe a meme eastern European league where I have to win the league with a shit team just to get some western European attention so that I can switch to a small English club or whatever? Or should I do a LLM challenge in one of the bigger European leagues?
Or should I just go straight to the EPL? Please give me some suggestions, senpaitachi - all options have their good and bad sides:
Eastern shithole: ultimate challenge because even getting into a relevant league will be hard as fuck, but it might be that you're just stuck forever because nboody wants to hire a manager from Romania Lower EPL league: gives you the opportunity to work your way up by playing good tactics and jumping up the leagues by overachieving at your clubs, but it might not work at all when your club can't even afford a DoF or any transfers at all bigger leagues: the challenge should work well in these leagues, but maybe it will be too easy to start that high up? 1-2 good seasons would be enough to land a job at a good team
that's true, but think about how easy winning the league or the CL is with moderately good teams is right now. with this challenge, you wont be able to build a team for your tactics - what if your DOF buys players that just dont go well together tactics wise? You wont be able to beat big clubs with an inidividually worse team that is fine tuned tactically. Like, if you manage a shit club like MIddlesbrough, you just wont be able to make them a bigger club than they are by scouting well, buying good players and creating good tactics for what you want to achieve. even if you do well with them for 5 years and earn money in the process, your DoF wont make use of those assets to improve the team. etc etc
Caleb Adams
You don't notice until you can see the roles the AI picks. Stuff like a 4-3-3 with W(S), FB(D), DLP (S), CM (S). Basically no attacking duty. Wonder why the team can't score!
Hudson Jones
>what if your DOF buys players that just dont go well together tactics wise That is if your DOF also has terrible attributes in Tactical Knowledge too (and shit attributes overall). And even then, they often have a preferred formation/tactic, and if you don't check it you may as well play blindfolded. Else they may be off, but not that far off the mark.

Isaac Carter
>That is if your DOF also has terrible attributes in Tactical Knowledge too
>Implying this attribute means fuck all in the grand scheme of things managers of big teams are great tactically but they all play shitty 4-4-2s. and yeah, they all have preferred formations, but I wont be able to find a DoF that plays my formation and is also good at his job. For example, Conte went on winning the CL at Chelsea with a 5-3-2 in FM15. >but I wont be able to find a DoF that plays my formation and is also good at his job. Then you play their preferred tactics. Reminder that the staff is also aware of which formation suits the players you have if you just ask them in your backroom or in your tactic screen. Pic related.
Pretty much my impression.

Levi Richardson
Which one of these GKs is better?
I give both of them playing time, but I'm not sure which one is better.
Adrian Richardson
Whoops forgot you said he was a grey. But basically, their attributes are balanced across the board and fairly dependent of the rep/status of the club they're in. Greys in EL/CL playoffs are far stronger than the average grey of your neighbourhood club.
Miles pretty much tries his hardest to keep under wrap the few things that curious people didn't find out by browsing the db or/and using Genie Scout/FMRTE and playing with the numbers.

>Jumping 8 >Aerial 7 The guy on the left by default.
Oliver Gray
I think virtual players' attributes get generated according to the club's rep, the English 7th/8th tier teams become much tougher when their players are loaded because their CAs are much higher than what the club's rep would've given them CL/EL teams already have pretty decent reps (by their nations' standards) so they get virtuals that might even look better than the average player that would come from that league/team
Jaxson Reyes
Pretty much goes along with my experience. Once I think I signed a grey for shit and giggles, and he had 8s and 7s in every attribute.

It was a low cross that was going from left to right through the box, he got in the way trying to grab it and deflected it into the goal somehow.

Jack Gutierrez
Probably some seating requirement. Pray that it's at least 17k since it's the requirement for Ligue 1.
Cooper Moore
let me guess, it'll be 12-15k, and as soon as he gets to ligue 1 they'll have to shut it down for another year or two and groundshare again so they can add in a bunch of new stands
Ian Robinson
nope.exe 10k (6,5k seats) required in Ligue 2, guess the current stadium didn't have the expansion potential, so really nothing else that could've been done Ligue 2 better be deceptively weak because so far it looks lightyears ahead of National (at least when comparing them to England's/Germany's 2nd/3rd tier) >max is 113x80m the fuck is this shit?
Jackson Peterson
>Ligue 2 better be deceptively weak it was pretty decent the last time I did a save there lots of very fast, very black men you might get by on counterattacking since everyone will think you're shit
Cooper Bennett
>guess the current stadium didn't have the expansion potential Correct. >Ligue 2 better be deceptively weak because so far it looks lightyears ahead of National Yes and no. It's not "that" strong as far as FM goes. That said, Ligue 2 forces you to turn Pro, while National has a handful of Pro and mostly Semi-Pro clubs. In England you have pro clubs down the 5th or 6th tier, not in France: Pro clubs outside of Reseves are not allowed in D4 for example.
Benjamin Wright
I've got dark men probably gon get fucked when all the players on NCs start getting poached (although I've got anyone I'd regret losing on a real contract)
David Martin
you should reward your board's decision to take out that loan by spunking all of the newfound cash on high-rep free agents' salaries promise them you'll finish midtable or something
Caleb Murphy
>probably gon get fucked when all the players on NCs start getting poached Not really, either your DoF, either your board, or you will have to sign them new contracts fairly automatically. So unless you purposefully let them rot or that they decide they've become too good for you, you should be able to retain them.
Cameron Reyes
hope the 1m prize money keeps you oily cunts in the black for another year enjoy the EL
