Was this the best zombie film of all time?

Was this the best zombie film of all time?

dawn of the dead remake, surprisingly enough

(shaun of the dead but thats comedy)

Nah . 78 dawn of the dead is.

Day is second

actually I retract this statement, if you count 28 days, it's 28 days

[Rec]

This

Dawn of the Dead
Day of the Dead
Night of the living dead
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
The Last Man on Earth
Night of the living Dead Tom Savini's 1990 remake
Land of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead Remake
Return of the Living Dead

they're all bad

Day of the Dead is great

Yes, but I hate the trend it started.
People have gotten the idea that zombies 'evolve', whatever the fuck that means, they're just corpses with rudimentary impulses.
Bub was a fluke, just a few of the higher parts of his brain were sparking, nothing more.
He was probably a unique individual when he was alive, but as a zombie, even with his human-like mannerisms, he had to be pacified with human flesh like all the others.
The 'zombie intelligence' meme needs to die, LoTD was a travesty.

Stake Land, even tho they're technically vampires n' shieeet

Dead Set was breddy gud too

I prefer 28 days zombies because they're such an immediate threat but it's far more viseral compared to like mall zombies that lumber around and you can corral them and use sparklers and shit to confuse them they're more a slow burn like attrition you can maneuver them but if too many group up you're done for

Goat poster

Dawn is great but day has a claustrophobic end of the world feel that no other film has done better

>"We don't have enough ammunition to shoot them all in the head. The time to have done that would have been in the beginning. No, we let them overrun us. We are in the minority now, something like 400,000 to one by my calculation."

What the fuck was his problem?
Seriously, what was he doing in the lab?

I agree with this. Dawn of the dead is my favorite and most rewatched zombie movie. As for the best made and staple of the zombie genre my vote goes to the night of the living dead remake (1990?) where the woman isn't 100% useless and annoying til the very end.

Night of the Living Dead is the best. Scariest b/w movie that still holds up today by far. So much tension and fear, I am always shocked by how good it is. Zombi is next, then the Italian cut of Dawn. Then regular Dawn. Then day.

every character in the remake is annoying and useless
terrible film, mockery of the original
pleb

>Night of the living Dead Tom Savini's 1990 remake
Why include that one? It's the same movie but with less charm.

i thought zombi was the italian version?

No, there are 2 versions of Dawn of the Dead, I think.

Dawn of the Dead > Night of the Living Dead > Day of the Dead > Land of the Dead > Diary of the Dead > Survival of the Dead

Return>Night=Dawn/Dawn Remake>Day>All the rest which aren't worth talking about

The Simpsons movie

28 Days Later

Origional dawn > day > lucio fulcci zombi > poultrygeist

wow how did they know about mexicans

Jerking off to 80's tentacle porn

That one.

>Dawn remake
George Romero's movies worked on tight, stage-like character drama. The Dawn remake ditches this for the sake of cheap melodrama and action/thriller sequences which raise the stakes in the laziest way possible by making the zombies, which are meant to be a slow and ponderous threat, into screaming velociraptors.

28 Days falls to complete shit in the final act. The opening of 28 Weeks is the best thing to come out of those two movies, besides that I like Days before the zombies show up and it's just Cillian Murphy wandering around. Those movies handle people badly.

Did you just google 'good zombie movies' and copy the first ten results?

Fulci's zombie movies are actually pretty awesome in a way that's completely different to Romero's.

>Tentacle porn in 1985
Truly a man ahead of his time.

it's definitely between Dawn '78 and Day '85

anything else is just worse, even if only by a lil bit.

I thought he was fucking the zombies or something. isn't there a recording of him calling a zombie 'mommy' or some shit?

I think you're talking about the deleted scene where Rhodes finds a tape recorder in the lab of him having sex with the zombie and shouting mommy

Nope, the woman and Mr. Bean find it when they find the severed head of one of Rhodes' men in the lab.

If I watch Zombi, what should I expect?

fag

Dawn 78

Also Night 1990 remake because that was the first Zombie flick i ever saw.

This. preferring the dawn remake is pleb shit.

That remake it great. superior in one respect to the original.

Preferring ANYTHING Snyder does is plebshit.

.....wait for it...

Resident Evil: Afterlife. It's very underrated.

+1 Came here to say this.

It's the only one that made it realistic and the lead is cute af.

The original Spanish version, I mean.

>muh social commentary

There is no way the shuffling, slow zombies of Romero could ever create a zombie pandemic (there is no way the fast zombies could either but let's leave that for now)

>that universe doesn't know about zombies except for night
>most people don't realise they can only be killed by head destruction
>all it takes is one infected among a big crowd
yeah, sure, nowadays it'll be pretty easy to take out a zombie apocalypse in this society but not the '68-85 one.

Fulci's stuff is pretty based but very unlike Dawn of the Dead. Romero's work was all character driven while Fulci's is straight exploitative horror. I think that as far as exploitation horror directors go he was just about the best, but that's all his zombie movies really were. If you want spooky zombie action with lots of violence you'll get it, but you won't get much else.

If no zombies could ever create a zombie pandemic how are Romero's particular ones a problem?

And nobody mentioned social commentary. If anybody's guilty of that it's Snyder, with his social cross-section nonsense casting and that sickening shot of the American flag at the end.

Train to busan. Nothing even comes close.

That's a new movie. Give it some time to settle in your head.

Hang yourself DCuck. That being said it's still the only decent Hack Snyder movie

NotLD remake is dogshit.

>let's make the zombies hilariously ineffective and no threat what so ever
>let's have the characters state this outright and have them walk away from said zombies with no consequence
>worse acting from everyone invlolved

The only redeeming quality was the special effects, which was a given with Tom Savini on board. Barbara being more of a presence is also a positive.

>Dawn of the Dead remake
>28 days/weeks later
>zombie movies

I like Barbara's weird detachment in the first movie. It's creepy as hell. I haven't seen Savini's one in 5+ years though so I don't really remember what he did beyond having really cool effects.

>I don't really remember what he did beyond having really cool effects
It's a carbon copy remake except everyone overacts to a ridiculous degree and Barbara is tough and survives by just casually strolling past every zombie in the film without a hint of threat or tension, making the entire movie and even the entire genre feel trivial.

It's like remaking Dracula but having a character just sit in the sun all day saying "lol faggot Dracula can't do shit"

That doesn't sound like a carbon copy remake at all.

Most of the scenes play out exactly the same as the original, only less effective because the zombies are so demonstrably useless that it makes no sense for the cast to take shelter in the farmhouse as there is no credible threat.

I fucking love Fulci's zombie movies. They're dumb and stuff, but they have that surreal quality about them... Nightmarish in a way. And those fucking soundtracks...

As far as straight horror goes I think he was probably one of the best directors working in the 80s.

I really like I am Legend, come at me. The world building and pacing is spot on.

I preferred The Omega Man over I Am Legend.
Although they weren't zombies in that, more like cultist vampires.

>I am legend
>zombie
Shiggity diggity

...

I don't like 'I Am Legend,' 'Omega Man' was Charlton Heston's survivalist fantasy but at least it was something. What's 'I Am Legend?' Will Smith doesn't really do anything interesting in that movie, it doesn't go anywhere.

Is that the Peter Jackson one? I love that movie.

Savini's Night of the Living Dead is the best of all time.

The Battery is the most underrated, by far.

It's a tie for me between Day of the Dead and Zombie Flesh Eaters (the good one, with the shark fight, not the one with the self-propelled flying zombie head).
Both of those had great effects, Day still has moments where I'm just not sure how the fuck they pulled off some of the zombie scenes, and the cast was just great and Zombie Flesh Eaters has zombies that really look like rotten corpses maybe more than any other zombie film I've ever seen.

Not a zombie movie
If it were, I'd agree

I Am Legend is so shit compared to the book

...

Literally pure reddit in one post.

The greatest zombie film of all time is zombie flesh eaters, you bunch of filthy plebs.
