Are you guys ready to buy this again?
>tfw two copies from before
Nah, I don't see the point. It's not going to be true HD, just an upscale. I will be buying Power of The Daleks though and I urge everyone else to do the same. Hopefully if they sell enough copies they will consider animating the other missing stories.
Why doesn't the BBC just launch a kickstarter for Doctor Who animated episodes? It worked for Ralph Bakshi and Little Witch Academia. And Doctor Who fans love spending their money on shit, so getting them to chuck a few dollars at a kickstarter would be easy.
Wouldn't that mean us forking out money twice? Once for the funding and once for the DVD?
so this is it. The final episode of Doctor Who. I wonder if it will ever come back.
Whatever they do, I hope they don't get those two fags from Withnail and I to play the Doctor.
IIRC Richard Griffiths who did actually play a fag in Withnail & I was considered to replace McCoy.
Nice pic, friend. What's it from?
it's from Doctor Who: Regeneration, the first-hand-account on how the television movie got made. It's an artist's rendition of Gallifrey which was the main setting for the first couple scripts they pitched to networks.
kino
Are we doing the VNAs next or? Also best underrated VNA?
Do not pet this unit
That's up to whoever ends up making the new threads.
>"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do."
Frankly, this was one of the most perfect ending speeches to any show. Highlighting the spectacular and mundane nature of the universe in one breath while effectively riding off into the sunset. Lovely.
>Also best underrated VNA?
The Highest Science, Tragedy Day and Zamper.
I only read a few VNA's. I found them a bit too edgy teen fanfic for my tastes.
Too bad it was likely bitter sweet to the audience cause their favorite show was going off the air only becuase some high up at the bbc didnt like it
What's exactly so bad about The Three Doctors? I thought it was fun
I don't know if it had been publicly confirmed that the series had been cancelled at that point. If it had, I wasn't aware of it. Then again I was only nine.
>Frankly, this was one of the most perfect ending speeches to any show.
and then rtd had to ruin it by bringing the show back. What an asshole.
Er, nothing? People love The Three Doctors.
The ones that usually get panned are The Two and The Five.
Omega was a bit of a pantomime baddie but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Did they ever say just what the fuck became of ace?
>new who
>canon
>Underused William Hartnell, the fucking original Doctor
>Revealing the origins of the Time Lords, destroying the mystery arround them
>Reducing the Time Lords to a bureaucratic mess
>No Daleks in a fucking anniversary
>Le Epic Dandy and Clown line
>Giving the Doctor back power of time travel just because
Still better than Dimensions in Time though
I heard they made a reference to her in an SJA ep but I don't recall what it was.
>Underused William Hartnell, the fucking original Doctor
He was senile and circling the drain. They couldn't have done much more with him than they did.
William was sick and all things considered he did a good job and that dandy line was funny
>implying dimensions in time isn't GOAT
Best Rani story desu.
>There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace. We've got work to do
I want to see it all :(
If you would stop having such a bug in your ass about nuwho you could
Literally what?
You refuse to watch nuwho or even give it a chance and then wonder why you miss doctor who
Either point us to the post where user said that or shut up with your shitposting.
This one
Clearly that was a joke. Also what makes you think that the user you are shitposting at made that post.
Two co-stars dating, what are the odds?
>mad that she is dating a white man
As if you ever had a chance to begin with
Aside from Amy and Martha, all the NuWho girls are coalburners. Is the BBC pushing an agenda here?
How the fuck can a black girl be anything but a coalburner?
That's just sticking to their own.
So what would she be if she dated a white boy and made him her bitch?
You're an idiot. I'm not that user.
There's also no cities made of song or people made of smoke in New Who so I don't get your point.
A snowblower?
They make a hot couple actually.
What happened to Richard Madden.
>Wikipedia says they are together.
They broke up last year
He started dating Laura Whitmore
Be honest would you a martha?
Oh, big, big mistake, really huge. Didn't anyone ever tell you there's one thing you never go for answers if you're smart. If you value your continued knowledge, if you have any plans about learning more tomorrow, there's one place you never, ever go.
Wikipedia.
It was a very violent break up jenna beat him over the head with a glass bottle
Makes her even hotter
Of course
Yeah, she's not bad for a black woman.
SAUCE?!?
>ywn have a vicious fight with Jenna culminating in a night of rampant hatefucking
...
Freema is hotter than Jenna anyway.
Pearl and Jenna are about the same level.
Rose wasn't that hot. Amy was ok.
>rose wasnt that hot
She was if you like pouty bratty blondes
Now billie piper isnt hot bitch is clueless when it comes to makeup and not smoking right in the face of a young child
Freema = Jenna > Pearl = Billie and Karen.
I'd still choose Catherine over them because she has big knockers.
Damn, that's a fine bosom.
Indeed it is, squire.
A horse! A kingdom for a horse!
What would a horse do with a kingdom?
Shit on it.
Usually you'd get a physical copy if you pledged a certain amount.
I'd likely do the same tbqfh.
Way more than the DVD, of course.
Who here has ever given a single cent to someone's crowdfunded hobby project?
When did begging become socially acceptable?
This is the BBC we're talking about.
No____
Yes.
Hi Gareth
Noticed a DW sketch on ITV's Newzoids last night. Two Peter Capalids talking about how complicated the show's gotten and they should just go back to the simple cheap budget of the 70s
Would date and fuck but not breed with.
Are you American or Irish?
>The Blood Cell, 12th Doctor novel. An early draft of the cover had a blue hue, but this was later changed to red for blood.
>The blue colouring was also changed because "Matt Smith's era was felt to be predominantly blue".
Fucking series 6.
>Pearl and Jenna are about the same level.
I think Pearl is kind of attractive but you're joking right?
This compartmental thinking people are taught at college nowadays is an anathema to unfettered creativity.
What
Scottish actually
He means they are both pigs.
>jenna
>pig
No, they are both beautiful
>anathema
GIRLY LETTERS
I'm Scottish and never heard anycunt say 'the show's gotten' unironically.
I find her really creepy and unnatural, mate.
That's because you never leave your mum's house.
Its okay to be gay user. Let it out. /who/ will still love you.
Gr8 bantz.
I briefly met this guy at a gig years ago. He was guitarist/backing vocals in some band. I don't think he'd been in anything as an actor yet.
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
He'd have been in many things including Cemetary Junction.
Play a record.....
I remember seeing Cemetery Junction later and recognizing him. That came out in 2010, I saw him around 2 years before that.
What are some other good british sci fi or horror shows? I tried watching Omega Factor but couldn't find it anywhere
No one here has anything against gay people user. Just let it out. Free yourself.

Rentaghost.
Is that Charles Manson?
Timothy Claypole was worse than a hundred Charlie Mansons.
Did you cry /who/?
These sound cool
Yes
I will happily showrun a new edge version of Rentaghost where the ghosts are Charles Manson dressed as a jester, Dr Crippen and Jimmy Savile.
People hire their services to mindfuck their enemies.
No.
They are very good, despite crude production methods.
I would watch the everloving fuck out of that show.
Now to see if they are anywhere to be found. I guess Quatermass will be because of it relative fame
An apparition ripped from deep inside a crypt,
Ring Rentaghost....
Some of the Quatermass serials are missing presumed deleted. Thanks BBC.
I can't believe how someone who just oozed an air of paedophilia managed to hide the fact he was a nonce for so long.
Either version of Quatermass and the Pit is excellent.
Quatermass II, tv version, features Roger Delgado in a small role.
Ahh cmon I read that shit was from 79, where they still losing episodes then? Ffs
He was universally loved as an eccentric and raised millions in charity work.
If he was up to no good then not one person went to the cops.
Bizarre story all round.
Quatermass #4 was made in 79. The originals are 50s/60s
The first series was done live and never videotaped at all. Some episodes were recorded on 16mm film and still survive.
Quatermass started in 1953. I believe the archive purge was still going on in 79.
Quatermass #4 was made by ITV, on film. The BBC knocked it back. Nothing changes.
No.
The BBC and people within the corporation in high places were aware they just kept things heavily under wraps. A panorama (like a whistleblower documentary if you are not from the UK) had investigated him before he died but was forced not to show the episode on TV by some figures within the BBC.
Sure.
Theroux came up with jack shit, despite following Savile about and presumably investigating rumours too.
Final Quatermass #4 factoid - executive produced by Verity Lambert.
My dad did but he tried to deny it.
You know of Johnny Rotten?
There's a good piece of audio evidence from the 70's where he discusses how "he'd like to kill Jimmy Savile because he's up to all kinds of seediness and corruption" and how "this interview won't be allowed out"
It wasn't broadcast until after the death.
Why we're discussing this here is beyond me though.
Actually as we are on the subject, was there any truth to the tabloid stuff about JNT? I remember Colin Baker suing the Sun Newspaper because they pictured him alongside JNT with the headline-implying he was involved.
If you want Nigel Kneale's take on his Quatermass stuff get the radio series The Quatermass Memoirs.
It also features new linking material with movie Quatermass, Andrew Keir, who you may recognise from Daleks: Invasion Earth 2150AD.
it's a bit stunning to see just how much more America was invested in sci fi entertainment than Britain? What were the British producing primarily for their enjoyment?
JNT allegedly fucked 16 year olds which was illegal at the time but legal now. TBQH I don't see it as a crime.
American tv is an offshoot of the film industry and had that infrastructure already in place when tv began.
British tv is an offshoot of theatre. Early British tv was basically televised stage plays and not cinematic.
so what would you think it'd be the best way to consume quartermass missing serials considered?
You can watch the film version of the first Quatermass to get the idea of the story.
I would then watch the tv versions of Quatermass II and Quatermass and the Pit.
The film Quatermass II is ok as a curiosity.
The film Quatermass and the Pit is a really good cut down version of the tv version and probably the best Quatermass, Andrew Keir. It also has a number of dw connections.
Finally the 79 conclusion is pretty watchable.
Didn't they also do a Quatermass remake with Gaypiss a few years ago?
Good Morning /who/!
Any recommendations for entry level first viewings of doctor for children from the ages of 7 to 12?
Nothing too scary as they're sensitive and autisic. Spiders are a for sure no go.
I was thinking 11th hour because of the whimsy, but prisoner 0 is rather menacing in appearance.
Or is doctor who not age appropriate?
And tennant. It's incomprehensible.
get yourself some good old third-fourth-doctor target novelizations.
Almost unrecognisable as the same story. Baffling stuff.
Just show them the scary stuff. Kids love being scared.
it was with Tennant
I'd say selected Pertwee and Tom are your best choices. Pertwee's auton episodes are great all around with that nice action/spy feel.
>Dr Who books and videos will never have awesome painted covers again.
Gatiss is also in it.
>he didn't like a subject he knows nothing about
Maybe further down the line when they're doctor who junkies? The era is probably just right though.
That maybe so, but I don't want to be held responsible for potential nightmares.
Thanks. the older costume/monster treatments are probably less scary as they of "lower" quality right? not as realistic and what not.
In The Forest Of The Night
Usually when making a shitpost like this it is customary to link to the post you are referring to.
>tfw you'll never suck Tom's cock as Jenna sucks yours
why live
I was thinking of leading with this, partners in crime or like boom town.
I believe someone thinks I interrupted their discussion with my rec request. My apologies, user;/who/.
...
>My apologies, user;/who/.
What the fuck are you apologising for? I demand that you now apologise for making an unnecessary apology.
I guess you could make that argument for the costumes although I'd never really thought about it. Even then don't be fooled, the Zygons managed to look creepy af back then, specially in that first cliff hanger.
first film then 3 tv series, very well. Thanks for the help. Also that radio stuff sounds very interesting.
>boom town.
Wouldn't that be a bit dull for a 7 year old, autistic or otherwise?
S-sorry user-kun.
I'd probably avoid zygons because of trypophobia and what not. Agreed they're creepy in any era.
Well I thought they might enjoy the fat farting aliens with the "happy ending" and eccleston is pretty charming.
What happens now?
>WRAITHqJxE
what's the backstory on the different trip?
>Also that radio stuff sounds very interesting.
It is interesting as it contextualises the serials and the way they were conceived.
We wait?
I add another tripfag to my filters.
He had an attention seeking episode a few weeks back and gave away his old trip.
Oh you know, I think I've waited long enough. I'm tired of this.
What's the backstory on this?
He looks seriously cross and seems to say "Fuck off".
Scots are notoriously grumpy cunts. I once got a filthy look from Moffat at a BFI screening because I was talking to a friend about how much I preferred classic Who to NuWho.
You deserved that filthy look. Back to Planet Mondas please.
Never been there m8. I'm quite happy here thanks.
We're not happy with you though. Your opinions are wrong.
Are you ?
Regardless of how you feel about my opinions I am entitled to hold them.
No.
...
How much hype are you currently feeling for the highly anticipated Doctor Who spin off k9 timequake
So glad the classic series went out on such a high note, even if it was lesbian furry porn I think it's the best serial with Ainley's Master and a true classic. Reminder that the best seasons of classic who really are the first two and the last two.
I wasn't aware of it.
Reminder that unofficial spin-offs
Has anyone here read any of these?
It's a multi million pound production in which K9 goes against the might Omega!
It has all the hallmarks of a GOATesque adventure!
I have a theory about K9: TimeQuake.
It isn't actually a K9 movie, but is instead code for Moffat's final episode which will be put in the cinemas and simulcast. It will feature 12 vs Omega as well as K9 and will see 12 regenerate.
Discuss.
I've never really been a fan of K9 tbqh.
I have. They're okay, although the Ermenegildo spinoff are better
>the Ermenegildo spinoff are better
Come again?
>The uploader has not made this video available in your country
I assume it was a Gareth sighting?
Something to do with The Shakespeare Code. I don't know what though. My speakers don't work.
>foreword by terry molloy
why is he associating himself with this stuff?
>there will never be a companion called Khadija
My dick cried milky tears.
There was almost one in the novels called Kadiatu.
:( k.
Sassy black BBW companion when? Pic related, a Kadija, a queen regardless.
Damn auto-correct. I meant the Erimen spinoff.
>Erimem
>Ermenegildo
I'm not even going to ask how that happened. Were you touching the keys with a potato?
Yes, also when victorian qt died
If Doctor Who had never had existed, what would you have done with the time you spent watching and shitposting here on /who/?
Phone auto-correct does weird things.
It's unfortunate how Clara's death scene was also the scene where her bust was most noticeable.
Watched and shitposted about something else.
Victorian qt was great.

No.
Just finished season 20.
BEST
Kinda- great
Four to Doomsday- good
Black Orchid- refreshing and short
Castrovalva- it's alright
Time-Flight- stupid but alright
Earthshock- cybers on the box and everyone knows about adric. No shock, crappy cybermen story.
The Visitation- boring and tired. Comparable to one of the worse pertwee episodes where he leaves earth and it's just boring.
WORSE
Better than season 18 I guess maybe. Is it all downhill from here?
>Four to Doomsday- good
I found this one a chore to watch. It felt like the dancing scenes lasted forever.
>The Visitation- boring and tired.
The story may not have been up to much but Richard Mace is one of my all time favourite guest characters.
You still have a few great stories to go before you hit Colin.
Is Colin's stuff really that terrible? I'm a bit excited to get into Trial eventually. The worst shit I've ever seen was part 1 of time and the rani with 7. Does 6 regularly sink anywhere near that low?
The Twin Dilemma is pretty bad but IMO it doesn't sink that low again until Time and The Rani. That's not to say his era is without fault but it's not as bad as some people make out.
they are that bad, their infamy lives on with good reason. It's not the hilarious kind of bad but the dull, boring, bad that makes you want to kill yourself. His seasons excepting revelations and season 24 are a complete waste of time.
You have 5 minutes to think of a fresh and original Dalek story
A televised adaptation of the literary classic "I Am A Dalek" novella.
The Daleks are dying out due to a shortage of genetic material so they start kidnapping Kaleds from a time before they (the Daleks) were created.
GOAT DALEK THEME
Underrated Dalek theme desu.
A story that begins with Dalek victory over a planet and its nearly extinct race. That race pulls their own Davros and cannibalizes into an even better master race with opposable thumbs and programmed values that make up for the positives of lack of emotion. The doctor has to destroy the planet at the end and a handful of survivors of the extinct race are left to start again elsewhere. Later on, the new master race revives to execute extermination of Daleks. They should just write out Daleks at this point.
Where does an old man go to die?
Switzerland?
A mad Dalek Scientist is certain that the days of the Dalek-race are numbered, so it creates a new race of bipedal Dalek-mutants that do not require travel-machines called Kaleds.
More Planet of the Apes stuff today.
...
A captured Dalek is used in a new TV reality show in the future where people have to survive in an enclosed area. The last one to stay alive wins, which brings out all the worst sides of humanity as they trap each other so the Dalek can kill them or won't help when the Dalek gets close. The Doctor is furious with this idea. The Dalek ultimately teleports out of the planet into the space station where the TV reality people are monitoring the game and seeks to escape but learns he's been genetically engineered by these people and isn't a pure Dalek. The Doctor convinces it to blow itself up, destroying the station and the crazy TV guys with it
the Doctor helps a team of future-archaeologists uncover the final resting place of the Daleks, the legendary Tombs of the Daleks. However, as soon as they enter the gates lock behind them and they find that the Daleks inside are still very much alive.
All jokes aside, I wouldn't be against the idea of remaking some of the classics.
That's a good idea. Add River as one of the archaeologists.
Nice idea too. Has anything similar ever been done? Seems too well developed to be something written in 5 minutes.
This user has good taste. Also, remember that Androzani, the supposed best Classic story, is still ahead but don't get TOO overhyped for it.
>The Blood Cell
Jeez, that book was gruesome. Liked it but there's no way a filmed version of something similar would be allowed b4 the watershed.
All your Daleks ideas are good but the point is they have to be scary again. How would you do it?
Televised Dalek Empire adaptation.
Dalek holocaust story
There was a great post about Genesis of hte Daleks on /r/gallifrey the other day. I'll post it here so the rest of you needn't delve into the faggotry. n8 is a mod there now. abandon ship.
TV show user here, I would simply show that a single Dalek can single-handedly stalk and kill dozens of people. Also a few situations where a likeable character is stuck in a place and sees the Dalek come towards him, seeing death itself come closer with no way of getting out and getting exterminated. Bonus point if the Doctor can watch it on CCTV and can't help.
I believe Genesis of the Daleks to possibly be the most misunderstood episode / serial in science fiction history. I invite everyone to re-watch the serial carefully.
The Doctor's decision was whether to personally detonate the charges that would have killed the embryos in the incubation room. But observe just what these embryos were:
DAVROS: That outlines the chromosomal variations to be introduced into the embryo Daleks. It is to be implemented at once, Gharman.
GHARMAN: Davros, this will create enormous mental defects.
DAVROS: Not defects, improvements.
GHARMAN: It'll mean creatures without conscience, no sense of right or wrong, no pity. They'll be without feeling or emotion.
But observe the following two facts:
> Daleks already existed before these embryos.
>The Doctor does wind up indirectly causing the deaths of these embryos by detonation of charges.
For the second point, what everyone seems to remember is the Doctor refusing the first chance to detonate the charges and directly murder the embryos. What for some reason everyone seems to forget is the Doctor changes his mind, goes back to detonate the charges, and is saved from directly being responsible for their murder only by another Dalek interrupting him and then completing the circuit.
I assert the Doctor never had the chance to eliminate the Daleks from history. What he did was instead replace who survived as the Daleks. Had there been no intervention of the Doctor and of the Time Lord Celestial Intervention Agency, the embryos would have lived, grown to maturity, and then because they had no conscience or positive emotions would have exterminated both Davros and his original Daleks. These completely ruthless Daleks I assert were the Daleks from the First Doctor until the Fourth Doctor serial Genesis of the Daleks.
Now for the first point, Davros explicitly states about his first Daleks, the ones who actually survive:
>DAVROS: There is much to do. I want the genetically conditioned creatures installed in the machines immediately. Twenty of them.
>NYDER: Twenty?
>DAVROS: They are our troops in this battle for survival.
>NYDER: But they're still very erratic, unstable.
>DAVROS: They will not be allowed self control. I will prepare a computer programme that will limit their actions. After that, we are going on a journey.
Note very carefully these original Daleks are activated before Davros even gives Gharam the plans for the Dalek embryos without conscience.
Moffat I believe is completely aware of all of these twists in Genesis of the Daleks. That's why we see Moffat have Davros say in The Witch's Familiar:
>DAVROS: Oh, they have no choice. My Daleks are afflicted with a genetic defect.
>DOCTOR: What defect?
>DAVROS: Respect. Mercy for their father. Design flaws I was unable to eliminate. And now he sees it. Now he understands.
Davros created the Daleks, but who changed history so that Davros survived their creation, and thus by blundering into their history prevented the completely ruthless conscience-less Daleks from arising? The Doctor did, the Doctor created the surviving Davros. Observe that the one time Davros is completely lost to the Daleks, when he is apparently killed at the start of the Time War, the Daleks go on to defeat the Time Lords before the Doctor intervened at the very end.
Davros is the true Dalek inhibitor, the true legacy of the Fourth Doctor in Genesis of the Daleks.
It's an obvious fanfic mashup of at least two tv episodes.
No? I'll admit I get the lone captured Dalek idea from Dalek and Into the Dalek but that's literally it.
Stop writing the Doctor giving big confident stupid speeches written to look impressive to children. Stop pointing out that the Doctor always wins and stop laughing at the Daleks. No more happy endings where the Doctor wins almost entirely and only a few nobodies got blasted. Tone down the music and bring back screams.
Well that's literally what I was thinking of when I said this A very horrible scene where a very likeable character gets horribly killed and you know he can't get away. And he knows it. And the Doctor knows it. And he sees it and he can't help him.
The space station with death games is kind of Bad Wolf.
Yes there are Daleks before this episode, even if the name was not known to most in the bunker.. Initially a portable life support system for humanoid mutants. In my headcanon the early system is what Davros is connected to.
Dialogue states unambiguously that the new Daleks seen in Genesis were the result of accelerated mutation to see what the 'final mutational form' of the kaleds would be in the far future.
This could be seen as an explanation of the different Daleks seen in 'The Daleks' who were still humanoid, more individual and less technologically advanced compared to the super psychotic blobs of the future.
True but I wasn't thinking of that particularly. I had the Hunger Games in mind when I thought of this, not Bad Wolf. But I'll admit the idea is a bit samey.
combined with the deadly game show in the space station....
and the Dalek is not pure and commits suicide...
>How would you do it?
Literally just write scenes where people are actually scared of them. You'd be surprised at how little of those there are these days. The only threatening bit in Asylum is when the half-dead ones are cornering the Doctor with their suckers coming up to his face and he freaks the fuck out.
Have a scene where one of them is following our heroes around in the dark or something, it doesn't even have to be complicated (or emotionally manipulative).
To be honest I made the "not pure" bit up because I needed a reason for it to kill itself and blow the station up and I only see this reason for a Dalek to blow itself up.
A lone Dalek attacks a few people/aliens in a large abandoned facility, trying to get a device they have that the daleks need/want
Very little attacking the Dalek, focus on it as an unstoppable force, mix of base under siege/sci-fi slasher movie/haunted house
The Doctor saves 1, maybe 2 people, doesn't defeat the Dalek but has to just leave with the important device knowing it'll slow down the Daleks' progress on something greater
Daleks are pretty much just overused meme villains due to their iconic nature
Also get Rachel Talalay to direct it
>In my headcanon the early system is what Davros is connected to.
Which is why it looks like a small Dalek base/skirt. Perfect.
Robert Shearman already had the final word on Daleks as a concept 13 years ago in Jubilee.
Be creative.
I seriously don't see any other reason why a Dalek would kill itself. Unless their weapons drained but that would seriously be anticlimatic and we'd lose the "did he just order a Dalek to kill himself so the bae guys in the station all die?" bit.
Don't get upset but - your story could have almost any combat ready alien in the place of the Dalek and it wouldn't change it.
Re-watched some of Eccleston's episodes on the W channel this afternoon (UK).
Had forgotten how good he was, damn he was a great Doctor. He achieved the perfect combination of dark drama with a hint of sarky comedy.
Oh you think so? Oh... I guess it's not as good as I thought... thanks nonetheless.
It's also The Running Man with a Dalek in it.
I don't see a single unique Dalek episode in New Who. You could swap them with any killing robot and nothing would change. The story doesnt sound bad, it's just that the Daleks are just irrelevant now.
"Dalek" only works if it's a Dalek. Also "Into the Dalek".
The other stories are all very bad fiction, yes.
Never seen it in my life. Like I said, The Hunger Games were my primary source of inspiration and then I worked the Dalek in it.
Dalek would work with a Cyberman though.
No it wouldn't.
Cybermen have no emotion. They have no revulsion of foreign genetics. They can't absorb the Internet. No self destruct. etc etc
Dalek would also work with a Slitheen and even the Abzorbaloff. Dalek is a highly overrated story.
>They have no revulsion of foreign genetics. They can't absorb the Internet. No self destruct.
Says who?
I agree. It's a good episode but nothing outstanding.
Now we see what is happening. Goodnight.
Trying a bit too hard there.
It works as far as "trapped Cyberman in a vault" but everything from there on would have to be completely different. The whole bond it forms with Rose would have to go. The scene where it discusses the Time War with the Doctor wouldn't work. The resolution where the Dalek is so horrified at having absorbed humanity that it tearfully kills itself would be out of the question. The Dalek's emotions are half of the whole story.
Piss off already you drama queen.
...
Half the point of the episode is the Doctor's feelings towards the Dalek and the relationship between the two. The Daleks are his oldest and bitterest enemy, there is no other monster that would have a similar impact.
You could do the same plot with another monster, but you'd lose most of what makes the episode work.
This is a good idea. The complaint people are saying of "not being unique" and "could be used with any monster" are overblown.
Maybe "Dalek" would've worked if Eccleston was able to execute a believable performance. Smith is the only New Who Doctor who can channel these sort of bitter performances.
Tennant was too whimsical and Capaldi just overacts in scenes which are meant to be intense (see The Magician's Apprentice).
Nah.

So what are you guys eating right now?

A turkey and cheese sandwich.
Hi, Tom.
Did you put mayo on it?
Toasted Ravioli
How goes the compiling of the anthology? Should I try and talk Belle into submitting a poorly drawn illustration?
Just took my sleeping aid for the night. Will be dropping off soon.
Hey Cloister, new trip? Haven't been round here in a while.
Eccleston was GOAT in Dalek, in my opinion his best performance.
It's worth watching Dalek (s1) and Into the Dalek (s8) back to back. There's some interesting links between the 2.
Yes, I did. Might have another.
Yes, try to get Belle to do that.
I love the arc Eccleston's Doctor has. Regaining hope, in a way. His series is really cohesive on the whole.
Yes. Had a mental breakdown, gave away my tripcode.
Okie dokie will do.
Ahhh. Well, for what it's worth, Cloister Wraith works pretty damn well too.
How much have you got for the anthology so far? Have considered writing something for it, been needing to get back into writing things, and might try a take on a female Doctor for ya.
In terms of a character arc, development, journey and growth, absolutely. They never got time to fuck it up (if he'd done a second series, guarantee they'd have fucked up somewhere or made 9 a bit of a parody of himself like most other Doctors did eventually in their eras).
A female Doctor would be great. How long would that take?
Not sure honestly. I could get it pretty quickly (within a week) if I worked on it consistently, but the hardest part is knowing where to begin. Haven't written any fiction in about a year and it's hard to break out of that.
I'll try just writing off the top of my head now, see if I come up with anything at all.
When's this anthology out? 2076?
Thank you. I kinda like it though I'll miss the old one and it's 4plebs ranking
Yep.
Do that. I'm writing my own female Doc fic, not sure if it's going in anthology, though.
What should I say to this pleb /who/?
Thank you, Cloister.
Why are you talking to someone on tumblr?
Nothing. No need to antagonize someone.
Tell them how David Tennant already regenerated into himself back in Journey's End.
leave em alone, who cares
Nothing, you sad twat.
Tell him he's right, Paul.
>its not that i dont like peter capaldi but i miss davids crazy eyes
Never found his eyes that notable.
27 seconds in.
>wrong sonic screwdriver
DROPPED.
I expected to hate that but it's mildly funny.
>"Excellent"
I can see why they cut it though, it completely kills the momentum of whatever scene is supposed to be going on.
I like the clips of the Cybermen without the CLANG CLANG STOMP feet sound effect.

Alright Immigrant, I've been writing on the fly and managed to get a decent chunk done.
This is about as much as I've been able to manage having taken my sleeping aid, and it's at least better than I was expecting:
