The Simpsons

Okay, let's settle this once and for all!

When exactly did this show start going downhill?

S2

It STARTED going downhill around S7 or S8, but it was still watchable for the better part of a decade beyond that until it went full cancer.

stopped being funny once i became an adult, it is a family show anyway, it has subtle adult humour (like a disney movie) and innuendo but it's only really funny to children.

Did they make a major change to how they do the animations in one of the more recent seasons? I can generally tell if a clip is going to be 'bad' Simpsons just by looking at the art style, where I couldn't before.

S1

season 9, when Phil Hartman died and most of the good writers left.

It was still passable until the end of season 15, every season after is mostly shit with some decent episodes here and there.

It was never good

It started going downhill after season 9, but it was still good until season 12
season 13 had a huge drop in quality once again and after that it just became horrendous

>i want blatant race and sex jokes
kys

...

Lisa the vegetarian is the beginning of the end
then hartman died and the series became ok at most
then s14 is where it becomes unwatchable

when phil hartman died

this

first it's about the average american family
then it's about the simpsons

S8 is the non meme response

When Groening and all the better writers left to create Futurama.

Season 9 was when it started getting patchy, then it suddenly went fucking abysmal in season 11.

The Baldwin/Basinger episode was the ultimate stamp of mediocrity

Homerpalooza, second to last episode of season 7, is the official beginning of the decline, IMO.
