How dead is Star Trek right now?

I even doubt about the existence of the new series.

It had a movie release over the summer that no one saw and the new series has been delayed.

It died the moment J.J. Abrams touched it. And his movie broke box office record of the series. Same thing will happen to Star Wars

>It died the moment J.J. Abrams touched it.

It wasn't exactly thriving before that.

>I even doubt about the existence of the new series.
I'm sure it's real, but I'm concerned with their intentions to put it up online behind a paywall, instead of just fucking airing on CBS. It's not like they have anything better.

Yeah, sure. Star Trek and Star Wars, the exact same case...

Plebs thinking STar Trek wille ver die

ST died with DS9/VOY. All the TNG movies are unsuccessful craps and the reboot was just a last breath.

STAR TREK, TOS, WILL NEVER DIE. You're just not use to tv shows that are more then just mindless entertainment. It's a philosophy. You have no idea what it means. 1966, STILL STRONG.

Reviving it for another generation, without bastardizing it, but modernizing it.

Ju caint kill the trek, better men have tried.

Live long and prosper (literally the whole point to life)

the franchise is better off than before the '08 reboot tbf

...

It's not dead yet, it just had its 50th anniversary, but it is on its final legs. It has maybe the one upcoming TV reboot left, and the movie reboots have been done to death. There are not too many things left to do with it and as the original boomer fans die off it will slowly go back into the history vault though it will live in reruns probably forever.

This current reboot has gotten a little stale so prepare for the reboot-reboot of TNG with cameos by the old cast
then when this current reboot cast gets old they'll reboot that as well

all female reboot

It's really not dead. As long as we remember it.

Star Trek wasn't really alive anymore when J.J. got his hands on it. Before him where the god awful TNG movies and a cancelled series.
I think Star Trek is unkillable you can do whatever you want with it but it will never truly die.

Jesus don't remind me about how bad the TNG films were

KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN

...

Daily reminder that Enterprise was the very best Star Trek series ever produced.

It was Star Trek done right.

No faggots.
No feminism
No PC
Less technobabble
More realism
More character
Interesting aliens
Solid storytelling

Trektards hate it because it isn't gay enough.

t. Scott Bakula

If they didn't make Enterprise but a series set in the aftermath of the Dominon War Star Trek would still be relevant today.

Just more sad victims of garbage trek addiction.

Enterprise offered the fanbase some new and original things...

But they had been eating garbage trek for so long that when they were finally served a bit of Enterprise, which is actually the Prime Rib of Star Trek, their acquired taste for garbage forced them to spit it out as if it were poison.

How very unfortunate.

>TNG reboot

this

I liked Enterprise, to bad it got cancelled around when it really started to get good.

What's bad about DS9? I've heard nothing, but good things from my friends who are into it.

Enterprise was the only Trek series that was good from the very beginning.

Seasons 1-3 were the best. Season 4 was when the quality started to fade. Most all of the stinkers are in season 4.

NigTrek9 was a boring soap opera with a bunch of unlikeable characters, feminists everywhere, a token nig commander, and way too many space jews.

No thanks.

Man I dont know, TNG had some good ones, but not as good as they say.

You really didn't like season 4? Why not? I thought it was good.

>Parallel evil Enterprise
>Nazi aliens
>Vulcan conspiracy
>Klingon skirmishes

Do Cardassians self lubricate? Also are their dicks sheathed or like just normal looking lizard penises?

Okay that still doesn't explain anything. Why was it boring? What made the characters unlikeable? Was the Captain actually bad or was he just black?

this is either a lie or some sever delusion

Stinkers in the 4th season includes the episodes with that faggot Spiner and his augments, as well as the one with the old, flabby Riker and Troi. Another stinker was "Daedalus", the one about the transporter. That was pretty bad. And "Bound" the one with the very un-sexy green women. That one's only redeeming grace was that Trip was immune.

This is what happens when someone swallows Cred Forums memes completely and they become a mindless drone who can't even enjoy a sci fi show because muh nigras. Pitiful son.

>What's bad about DS9?
Literally nothing

Best Trek series

Most of TNG has aged like shit, frankly

It's my opinion. Do I have to explain my opinion? That would be boring for me too, because it was a very boring show.

It's dead jim

Yeah, It wasn't perfect, but I still think it had more good than bad ones.

Like the one where Archer must make all the local aliens work together to catch the romulan ship. Like a kind of early federation.

What did you think of the plot device? I.e the temperal cold war?
Also what about the Romulan infiltration? They where not aware of Romulan existance IIRC?

Friendly reminder that Enterprise did nothing wrong.

youtu.be/xeDOe0kZDhk

>Do I have to explain my opinion?
No of course not.
That being said, you did throw out a shitty explanation of your opinion anyways so I don't see the issue with me wanting a less shitty explanation.

Nothing's bad about DS9. It's the darker and less optimistic version of TNG. They stand as equals.

well from what I hear, fans were trying to revive it with their own fan made show, but they got a cease and desist from whoever owns Star Trek (I don't watch it, never have), because they're making their own show themselves and don't want competition.
Let's be honest, if you have to squash a fan made TV show so it doesn't compete with your own TV show, what does that say about the product you 're producing?

>Do I have to explain my opinion?

Not him but this is a message board where we discuss our opinions about movies and series. So you should kind of expect explaining your opinion since that's the whole point of the board.

here's your (you)

You aren't going to get an explanation from that poster because they don't mean any of it. They're just meming. is just a copypasta that has been reposted verbatim at least a dozen times now. They're just here to Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V whatever nets them the most (You)S.

>What did you think of the plot device? I.e the temperal cold war?

It wasn't my favorite thing, but I don't think it was that bad. It had its moments.

Daniels was pretty gay, tho. He'd make for a good OP. Maybe I shouldn't be too hard on him. He was a product of his current year. Maybe he watched a little too much TNG.

One thing that really fucking bothered me with that was when they got access to Daniels device that had like blueprints of ever starship ever constructed, and they didn't use it to gain one single advantage over their enemy, who interferes with history all the time, because of some shitty non believable reason.

Could you explain that please?

its soul is dead

Sure thing dude.

Don't post your opinion about movies or series on a message board where we discuss our opinions about movies and series, if you dont want to discuss about movies and series.

New movies set box office records for the franchise.
TNG got totally remastered for bluray.
New conventions are opening.
Star Trek Online is doing well.
Star Trek has 3 mobile gaming apps.
New series coming next year.
Ongoing comic series with IDW

Doing a lot better than it was. Probably the best place it has been in a decade.

>TNG got totally remastered for bluray.
And the sales were terrible.

Star Trek Beyond flopped.
TNG Blu Ray sales were terrible, no DS9 restoration will be done.
New series will be cancelled after one season.

Yeah, well in s1e26 they certainly did.

See?

That was very boring.

>Ongoing comic series with IDW
Didn't it just finish a few weeks ago?

It now has a crossover series with Green Lantern

*vomits gratuitously*

Diseases do tend to propagate, lel.

>black people exist
>Cred Forums triggered

I love this meme!

Star Trek III: The Search for (You)

>It was Star Trek done right.
>No faggots.

>Less technobabble

It figures that an Enterprise fan would be someone who just plain doesn't get Star Trek.

getting stale on that pasta

waiter, sir, i'd like some fresh pasta
with a side of 'za

It was obvious pandering, Einstein.

>with a side of 'za
Daily Reminder that it's a Gordon Ramsay and Molly O'Brien episode.

Did Ramsey pour his Risotto into her?

WOTT DID EWE JUST SAY AHBOWT ME DOTTER?

It means it's a valuable piece of intellectual property that is bound by copyright law?

Beyond flopped partly because of the atrocious marketing. I didn't see it because it looked like F&F in space.

>all they did was download the blueprints for a cloaking device detector
>for just the Suliban-specific cloaking device
>they didn't "acquire" some energy shields while they were at it

>they proceed to get BTFO in every encounter because they were stuck with electrified hull plating for defense for the entire series

Shut the fuck up, Miles. No one even cares you were replaced

Miles, there's something I need to tell you.

For the last few years, i've been participating in Bajoran orgies on the planets surface. They sometimes last months and include thousands of people.

I've become addicted to Bajoran cock and can't live without it anymore. I'm leaving you to return to Bajor. You can keep the kids, i've always hated them.

>Pah Wraith Keiko is more caring and personable than normal Keiko

Star Wars is dead. The movies are basically just generic sci-fi action flicks.

Any new TV series they'd make wouldn't be as comfy as TNG.
It's either by pure action, or it could go ultra preachy SJW (I know Roddenberry was a proto-SWJ/basically Socialist so I guess it'd be in his spirit. But those themes were mostly undertones. Or put to the extreme with like aliens.) I feel like if they did that now every 3rd episode would be dealing gender crisis, or racism. But that's with my 2016 eyes.

They need to make it edgier and darker.

With a hip and young new cast so that newer and younger audiences can relate

and it needs to have >implied SEX and kissing and love triangles between main characters

>that filename
10/10

Big OG Start Trek fan, havent seen any of the spin off series.

JJ's reboot was pretty fun. The second movie was okay too. Didn't see the third one, looked shitty.

I have a feeling it is a franchise without a pulse right now, no one really cares, they'll need to cast Lady Gaga as a bad guy or something extreme to get people interested.

Lady Gaga as an evil Klingon?

They explained this. If they used tech from the futures time agents would correct history. They were only allowed stuff to counter the time damage interference from the future.

After seeing all the other series, tng many times, I finally started watching tos yesterday. I'm enjoying the fuck out of it and I'm surprised at how well it's held up, minus the fx of course.

I have two versions though, the original and the remastered and enhanced version. Which should I watch?

They'll do at least one more movie, but the reality is that very few people give a fuck about Star Trek any more, and even fewer of those give a fuck about the J.J. Abrams universe.

I've seen some of the remastered ones and they look amazing, but either would be good, the greatness is really in the characters, scripts, etc.

I prefer the remasters, sometimes they do some neat things with the space shots.

I prefer the originals, the CGI effects don't mesh very well with the show and some of them look cartoony

You only hate it because it isn't gay enough.

There is already tons of Star Trek. Just let it die.

The problem is that most of it is shit. I'd happily let Star Trek die to revive Stargate though.

Star Trek right now, is in the same state as the lovely old home of a lovely old man built with own lovely old hands, after Kira came to visit him.

.

Cast it

>Jessica Chastain as Dr Crusher

The alternate past is already kind of awkward. We missed the Eugenics wars and if a world war followed by first contact doesn't happen soon the dream is dead.

This. It's message has also aged horrible and its vision of the future while correct in some way is retarded on the front of lack of robots and genetic engineering.

This does not shock me at all.

Seriously what the fuck was up with the marketing? They put a guy riding a dirt bike on the poster of a goddamned Star Trek movie! I mean I hate the JJ Trek movies as it is but that was just beyond the pale into the realm of sheer stupidity.

That poster is terrible.

It's like they thought "ok what's popular, Star Wars and action movies! Let's put a Sith looking bitch in the center being menaced by a tiny, shitty looking CGI Enterprise and a guy riding a dirt bike in the corner!"

It's just really terrible placement of all the elements of the poster. Compare it to this.

Haven't a bunch of fan made films/series been released, many of which feature original actors from several series? What makes this one different?

>poster shows 1 Starfleet vessel versus 2 Klingon vessels
>film shows 2 Starfleet vessels versus 1 Klingon vessel
This is not pottery at all.

>What makes this one different?
Unlike all the other shitshows, this one was actually good.

youtube.com/watch?v=1W1_8IV8uhA

Yeah, everybody was begging for the fucking Time War, right? Shitty CGI Gorn, anyone? I laughed when Florida got vaporized, so it has that going for it.

>Idris Elba as Riker
