First two seasons are pretty meh, though. Nicely shot and acted and all, but the plot goes in circles and gets dragged out to the point of ridiculousness.

I fucking loved The Killing for the first two seasons. I think the creator got a lot of flack for promising to reveal the killer at the end of the first season and not delivering. So, a lot of people bailed but I watched it after all that bullshit... Legit choked up at the moment where you find out how it all went down...

Don't agree at all. I found her very endearing and thought the actress made what could have been an annoying role into a compelling one. By far the best portrayal of the "backtalking street punk" type character that is usually a burden in films or shows.

Love this show, being picked up for season 3 was such a welcome surprise

I just watched the show over the last month or so and the first 2 seasons are honestly great. I was totally distracted while watching the whole 3rd season though and never really got into it. Totally my fault. The 4th and final season seemed like a pretty weak power grab by Netflix, but at least it wrapped up the loose ends.

I put off watching the show forever because my mom liked it when it was airing and she loves shit like CSI, but I had to watch her house a few weeks back and it was surprisingly great. Would watch again(especiallythe 3rd season)

Taking two seasons to solve one case was a catastrophically awful show runner choice, and seasons 3 and 4 were both better because of how self contained they were compared to 1's infuriating red herring and 2's moronic anticlimax

They did that in season 3 of the Killing. Bullet's friend went missing at the start of the season, her and the girl's mother are looking for her for the whole season. They never find her, she was just another victim of the killer

I shall miss seeing her on my TV regularly

It sucks that you can't really just watch season 3 of the show as a standalone since even though it's a new case and mostly new cast it still follows on from side stuff in the first two seasons so you'd be lost

thats pretty much why it went out the way it did. It was never that popular, starting out when AMC started making high quality stuff, but critics didnt like it being red herring:the show. the S1 ending/intro to S2 got them a lot of hate.
they only came back becuase of their small fanbase, and even then it was for netflix. they put all thier effort into S3, knew they would at best only get another season so they pulled a half ass story together and called it a day
