I've never seen Road to Perdition, but A History Of Violence is probably the loosest adaptation of a comic book I've ever seen in my life.

The mindset of common movie goers (normies) is that movies are easier than video games or books because they require no action or thought involved so they want the easiest escapist experience possible. Subtitles are hindrance for them in this and they just cant get over it.
