Why do people like this movie so much?
Aside from good direction and Gosling, it's above average at best. Action scenes look clunky, characters are meh and that romance between Gosling and that woman was ok, but didn't do much for me. Also, the movie went overboard with slow motion, it got boring really fast.

Not really, i just loved it everything about it. No film has ever consumed me the way Drive did. Soundtrack was perfect, visual were great acting possibly wasn't perfect but i hardly noticed any faults. From that first scene i knew that i was watching something special

Because Drive is proof that Refn should stick to more straightforward filmmaking. He tries to be different too much, when his "regular" films are already different enough.
I remember watching Pusher II for the first time and having that last scene, with Mads on the run, uncertain, with the baby, engraved in my brain like no other. And I still remember it to this day. Drive has that same feeling, only a bit more refined, a bit more suave, a bit more aesthetic. The violence is explosive but the reactions are understated. It has an air and a feeling to it, much like the Pusher movies, which is unique. Refn is good at that.
It's also an example of a movie that manages to capture you in every level. Whether you like it or think it's goofy, literally everyone remembers the soundtrack.
OST is okay, but nothing THAT memorable.
