It was pretty good, but if it's literally your favorite movie ever you have brain broblems.

its 100% personal taste you dumb fuck
I fear my taste has regressed the past six months and this is my all time favorite from some 2500~ films I've seen.
Alphaville
I'll do my favorite movies of all time instead
Revised it recently
...
But he's correct.
I'd have a beer with you
Final Fantasy Spirits Within, not even joking.
Best batgirl
Best batman
Best movie
It's personal taste sure, but I Saw the Devil has nothing particularly special or unique going for it. It's a well made action movie, but it's a really bad choice for "favorite film ever" imo.
I whistle the theme to myself a lot
Hyped to see it at least twice when it's back in theatres
...
I hate the idea of favorite movies but I just watched this again recently and I've enjoyed it across multiple viewings
>niggers gonna nig: the movie

you must be a nigger
>i don't like nigs therefore a movie about nigs can't be good
You seem salty, did a nig cuck you once?
Anyway, here's my pick
...
In that particular case I saw that nigger movie about niggers acting like typical niggers. It was 5/10 at best.
>gets bullied by black kids at school
lol, calm down hothead
Good choice
This, I think. La Meglio Gioventu(Best Of Youth)
It's 6 hours long, yet it's not slow "muh arthouse" sorta movie. I don't think I've ever watched anything like it.

Decent thread
The average taste in movies of this board is just depressing. /lit/ has ten times better taste in movies and it's not even their main subject. Can you meme loving retards not hold your concentration long enough to watch anything outside the IMDB Top 100?
Good taste.
If your favorite movie is not on the IMDb 100, you're lying to yourself.

watched it again yesterday night

You, your frustration, out.
kinda hard but
Get real. As if any one would ever seriously put some obscure "kino" above some of the best most well known movies that have been firm favourites for decades. You people are pretentious.
Pure. Kino.
...
Same
They showed it at selected cinemas in the UK last year so I was straight on that. It was the first time I saw it on the big screen (it was the Final Cut too) and it was such a pleasure.
I don't think I have one.
I can never pick favorite things, it's frustrating.
Used to be pic related 10+ years ago.

no one has posted this yet, whats wrong with the world

This movie is fucking awful, I can't believe most people on Cred Forums suck its dick.
>read filename
this was definitely my favorite when i was a kid, and i was in love with nicole kidman in it.
Despite Cred Forums contrarian opinion against it I gotta say Big Lebowski is my favorite movie.
Other close top 5 in order after BL
Evil Dead II
Alien
Collateral
Speed Racer
Trainspotting
Do you seriously consider this your all time favourite?
I watched it and while it was visually appealing it was pretty boring. Every time it seemed to get interesting and tense nothing actually happened. I enjoyed the book a lot more.
I know you're probably too young to have wasted years of your life here but Cred Forums was very much like older Cred Forums back in the day in that it was a very pretentious board filled with people trying to outdo one another.
Cred Forums had a reputation on /r/truefilm as being up its own ass. That should give you a good idea of just what level we're talking here. As the board got bigger though that collapsed and here we are now.
You can still see some of that old era in cinephile threads, where now prehistoric pastas of "favorite" films exists (the ones where the titles are left in their original language).
Point being, as /lit/ gets bigger it's going to resemble current Cred Forums and current Cred Forums more and more. Just the way things are fampai.
user nobody noticed you but I'd like to say that you have absolutely 10/10 taste
>5/10
God, you're fucking retarded.
Overrated.
he did NOTHING wrong
not the user you're replying to but my god I remember that. It was insufferable but kinda fun because of how obscure you had to get to seem up with the standard.
Most irritating thing was probably the insane overuse of "pleb" and "patrician." We've replaced this with just "kino" and it sounds fucking retarded.
^
I've seen this more times than any other movie. Bob Saget directed it.

I grew up loving Lea... now i must watch this and the sequel, but not 3... fuck that.
i don't see /lit/ becoming more popular, all the reddit manchildren will just stick with music, tv and games
fun movie but disappointing as fuck knowing they had to water down pretty much every scene to make it PG-13, if this was an R movie it would have been much better.
...
1970s Wickerman
Bad taste
Prepare for kino
i need to watch this again
Probably would have to go with this
The rare film that is even better than its already-incredible source material.
i didn't hate the film but if you know even a tiny amount about fishing it's fucking ridiculous
Why?
you mean fly fishing...
Well I thought along your lines about video games being too obscure and by their very nature niche 10 years ago. Look where we are now.
It's happened to a lot of boards that were well and truly niche beasts when they started.
Cred Forums became consumer electronics
/tg/ became a glorified chatroom to hangout it
Cred Forums shattered into several boards under the sheer weight of traffic
Cred Forums follows seasonal shows rather than film
Cred Forums is dominated by literal children just wading into the waters of things they haven't heard on the radio
So on and so forth. It'll happen to you.
I can't help but think some people are trying to post the best movie instead of their favorite movie.
Cred Forums is Grimes and K-Pop
Bourne
...
it's also a hangout for p4k readers lel
sorry, it's the only type of fishing I actually do so I've always assumed people mean fly fishing when they say "fishing."
>video games being too obscure and by their very nature niche 10 years ago.
Boards aside I'm not entirely sure that was the case. Maybe 20 years ago, and even then it wasn't origami-tier niche.
Don't worry I'll fix it.
Who cares how accurate the actual fishing scenes are. It is just a metaphor.
that's cool user, you tie your own flies?
For their dicks, right?
well that's as maybe but it's a metaphor upon which the entire fucking film is based so it really triggers my autism when it's portrayed fucking ridiculously.
I don't fly fish, but come from a family of people who do, and as a rule, they love the story it's based on and the movie itself. That said, what's the problem with the fishing beyond the ruse of shadowcasting?
LOTR
They do a fine job with it. You just aren't as good of a fly castor. You'll git gud eventually.
Nothing. user is a shitter.
theflyfishingforum.com
Are LotR the last major motion pictures with actual white values in it?
I'm from Miami so there's kind of a bias toward this movie deep within my soul
Pretty much
>see our MC go from naive optimistic kid with dreams to weathered and desperate war veteran
>backdrop of african american community during political and drug epidemics
>we see city life in NY chock full of classic soul music and urban struggle to the unforgiving war in vietnam
it's everything i could want
...
Used to but haven't had the time. I was hardly any good, I just tied shitty nymphs generally. No idea where my vice has got to and I'm not going to be able to fish any time soon.
the shadowcasting (i actually remember it being called "rainbow casting" but it was a while ago when I saw the movie) - that thing where he whips the line around repeatedly - i always thought was ridiculous, but the actual problem I had was the idea of someone being that talented at fishing. Sure you can have people who are great at casting and great at knowing what flies to use and where fish will be, but the level of "mythical fishing prodigy" that Brad Pitt's character reaches is pretty silly.
Also it doesn't help that in some scenes he's really casting like a bit of an amateur.
Then again the majority of my experience is on chalkstream rivers in the UK so extremely different to what they're doing so, as someone said, user might just be a shitter.
...
This was fantastic though
Thanks for the link - hella-interesting and sent it to the most fanatical of my fly-fishing family members.

Fucking jewllywood is going to ruin the franchise even more.
OJ made a surprisingly good actor.
Underrated as fuck
It captures the sense of adventure, action, and comedy impressively. Yes, it's a very flawed movie and i watche e plenty of other films that are better, but POTC will always have a special place for me.

such a nice film
I saw death rising from the earth, from the ground itself in one blue field, a present for my friends, for thanks giving
I really like the ending of that movie, so melancholic and brutal
Don't worry, user, I will not judge you. Movies are a blessing.
Probably between No Country for Old Men and Children of Men
Literature has been on the decline for decades though, so /lit/ will probably always be like it is.
What about Men in black and X-men
there are worse Tarantino films to love it's ok
Great nior
Great comedy
And the best interaction ive seen between actors and "thin air" special effect actors
So have movies and music
Of course i forget the pic

Fuck the will smith remake
Everyone listens to music, good or bad. Nearly no one reads, and the amount that actually read /lit/erature are very small. Same goes with movies, almost everyone watches movies, good or bad.
No it hasn't - that's equal parts trollish and illiteracy. You made me respond, so there's that, but nothing about literature is declining other than people having other sources of shit to read.
SHUT THE FUCK UP JUST BECAUSE BOTH HAVE MEN IN THE TITLE DOESN'T MEAN I CAN'T LIKE THEN CAN YOU FUCK OFF BEFORE I BREAK YOUR NECK?
no u
I meant the popularity of literature, the amount of people who read for entertainment in the past, versus now.
Casino is a great movie, but Goodfellas is perfect.
Appreciate the clarification - the problem with literature as a business is that people who read for the most part read solely for entertainment as opposed to enrichment, hence the decline of what I think you meant. Serious readers, with a few exceptions, read nonfiction.
Favorite Heston movie. Great twist and the farewell between Thorne and Sol is fucking amazing, especially if you read the backstory about how Robinson was dying in real life and shortly broke it to Heston before filming the scene.
I still have to find ''that'' movie that makes me go ''that is going to be unforgettable''. Anyhow Akira has been the closest to that reaction. Some others have gotten pretty close too but as much as Akira. I am sure the live adaptation will be shit so I am not really looking forward to it.
Absolutely. I think it's a perfect movie, and I love it with all of my heart. If there's one film I think represents everything I want in an experience, it's Stalker. I understand that it's slow pace and ambiguous, droning nature isn't for everyone, but I, personally, love it.
It was on VHS?
Solid taste. Replace Deer Hunter with Dog Day Afternoon and we're pretty spot on.
Love this also. The "dying" scene with EGR...the shock of color after looking at washed out scenery for over an hour always gets me. The Pastoral symphony was pure genius.
...
only complete plebs have a favorite movie.
you can have a favorite:
genre
era

but not a single favorite film
Haha. I have no idea what people see in Pandorum. I love science fiction, but this thing was garbage.
Maybe, but /lit/ has also become a big meme board and that brings traffic. Keep in mind they won the kulturkampf for the soul of /his/, they aren't completely impotent.
I love the art-work in this film. The scene where she is riding down on the lantern...wow.
I could research this endlessly.
It gives me everything I want from an an action movie.

hello plebeian
I can't decide between these two.
Same here. It's maybe the most entertaining movie made, for guys who've seen a lot of movies, and can just smile with it, since it's a callback to so many films, while remaining fun and original.
ALL THE LEAVES ARE BROWN
French History X
That just has better visuals, it's an inferior film

All of his movies have this sense of profound sadness and hopelessness, it's not about the plot it's more about the atmosphere and the world in which his characters live.
I love those movies, Jean pierre Melville is similar in a sense, although his movies revolve around the criminal aspect a lot more.
Chungking is so good, probably my favorite along with le Samouraï, Hana-bi, and a few others
I agree, it doesn't have anything to do with "oh so patrishun" but it's about getting a broader sense of what film can be.
this is one of the best movies ever
my favorite is On the Waterfront
It was either this or original Dawn of The Dead but I need rake pic related.
I was maybe 10 at the time when my friend's dad rented it on VHS and I remember being amazed by it. When I was 16 or so, I saw the collector's edition DVD at a fleamarket and I just had to buy it and it mesmerized me. I have watched the extras countless of times and the commentary by Carpenter and Russell is amazing. I have even watches the movie on different audiotracksfor hilarity reasons.
It also made me draw comics and fiction of it, I credit this movie 100% for why I am in the entertainment business.
Do not phonepost and drive, folks

Good taste.
I'd say yes since a majority of the board has a boner for Refn
Don't mean to derail the thread but...
Theatrical or redux?
None are the best tebehe. The French scenes are absolute garbage, but the theatrical is missing something.

This boards of lack self-awareness boggles my mind. It's so obvious you're using film as a way to boost your ego, too make up for shortcomings in other parts of your life. Measuring your self worth by how obscure the various forms of media you consume are can't be healthy. If your so insecure, I would suggest doing something good for the world instead of trying to prove something to others and yourself on an anonymous image board. It's genuinely a good way to be happier, I guarante you will get more satisfaction and joy out of working on yourself and commiting good acts as opposed to obsessing over your ego and competing with others anons over who's more 'patrician' (you guys have been using the word in the wrong context all this time btw, literally look up the definition)
I liked the first one but didn't really care for the second, is the third one better?

>1. Пиcьмa мёpтвoгo чeлoвeкa (1986, Lopushansky)
Why? It is so overrated anti-nuclearwar flik
It's not groundbreaking and definitely a weird pick as an all time favorite but it's still really good.
Don't expect a deep story, it's basically cop vs. insane serial killer to the point where it feels like one of those gritty 70's exploitation movies.
It is one of those movies that reminds you that you aren't actually desensitized to movie violence, but to shittily executed movie violence.
If you didn't like The Chase you probably won't be a fan of this either
Great story, great characters, top-tier action, realistic, great soundtrack, top-tier acting...those manly feels
For some reason, I find it really hard to pick my favorite movie ever. Recently, I've watched Boyhood and I really liked it, so I guess that's my favorite movie for now.
It's such an amazing movie.
You probably don't know, but it took 12 years to make! Isn't it crazy?
and so what?
russian movie Hard to Be a God (2013) was 14 years to make
Die hard
Blade runner
Robocop
Kung fu hustle
Can't really choose. U can call me a pleb if u want
the second one is the best one you pleblord
I will admit that in keeping with the spirit of the movies I was intoxicated and barely remember anything except I was disappointed it was about the bald guy.
