What made the first 3 movies so good?

What made the first 3 movies so good?

the laugh track

Shock value that quickly lost its appeal after #2

It was never about the shock value.
This is the objective Saw tier list:
>Great tier :
2,3
>Good tier
1 (the 'twist' was the only good part, sadly.)
>Bad tier
4 5 6
Kill yourself tier
3D

if by first 3 you mean 2 it was essentially a cross between basically unseen shock value and story that was more than a mild justification for it. the first one is like a crime drama with flashbacks and danny glover and very little of the actual edgy shit, and 2 kinda goes the same way. it's interesting enough that the twists can carry them along with shocking or creepy visuals.

only 1&2 are good, reddit

>3
>over 1
retart

i liked them all and am excited for the reboot (5-10yrs from now). any good copycat movies?

hostel i guess

Hostel seemed more like "gore for the sake of gore" instead of "OMG 'deep' puzzly shit"

Cube?

i dotn fucking know, fuccboi

No, you were on to something with Hostel. I wasn't trying to talk shit, just adding input.

I watched the original Saw recently, what the hell was the twist? That, the guy in the pool of blood was Jigsaw?

The Tortured

Decent twist ending

I love Saw but don't care about the gore at all

watch Cube then

Cube is pretty similar. Has traps and a not so straightforward plot

Will do.

Leigh Whannel

I was thinking about watching this franchise. Should I just watch the first 3 then stop?

nah, watch everything, even if just for the kills

but yeah, 1-3 are the best

is there a version with a laugh track? I might actually watch them then

They all had a big twist that was supposed to blow us away. That got old quick.

Though honestly I'm kind of impressed that they managed to maintain actual believable continuity through seven convoluted tortureporn clusterfucks.

James Wan. He is one of the few horror directors now a days that get the genre right.

only 1st movie had a good twist

Danny glover.
Marky marks brother.
Once they were out of the picture you knew it was going to be shit.
