Sopranos is somehow accurate regarding italian-americans and southerners accents.
And even then, it gets a lot of words wrong, for example gabagool doesn't mean shit, it's "capocollo", which for some reason you americans call "capicollo" same way you say "salami" instead of "salame" with a final "EH".
Salami is the plural version of salame, but almost no one uses it and says "insaccati" instead.

this didn't come out of nowhere, there are several references to him gambling more and losing money in the season 6 part II episodes prior to this. he asks hesh for the $200k bridge loan in "remember when" for instance, and in the scene where little carmine rejects becoming boss of the lupertazzi family tony is on the phone taking action on a game. and it's all within character because the point of season 6 part II was that he becomes worse than ever.

There obviously was though. It helped characterize Tony through his reaction to it both on a personal level and as a boss of a crime family, and it showed us more about the type of people underground mafia guys are (their values) and how they deal with modern issues that affect other groups of people.

It's easy to be "turned off" by some fat fuck having sex with men lol, but it's not hard to see what they were doing with this subplot. Could they have accomplished all of this characterization with a more subtle and possibly appealing turn of events? Maybe, but they didn't.
