I like the idea, but I don't like the implementation. They're using the same jokes for three episodes in a row now. Another problem with it is that if the main plot isn't that great, the whole damn season will be trash, but it's worth the risk.

What annoys me the most is the show try too hard to be a satire rather than its own nonsense plus the fact every seasons gets less episodes yearly

I still appreciate it but I wished S20 to be more classic than another satire season

S18 with episodes like Cock magic did it right because it only focused on keeping the inside jokes of the season rather than the shitty satire plot

I love the idea, think it's great. I grew tired with the "weekly moral lesson + lampooning crazy shit that happened to be popular this week" format of the last 10 seasons. The affection I've grown for the characters over the last 20 years gives me some real great enjoyment to see a story develop in their world.

That said, the season premiere was extremely weak, probably because it tried to introduce every single plotline of the season in 20 minutes while also lampooning dated shit like The Force Awakens and barely going over Kaepernick (although I assume since 'member Berries are probably the "big bad" plot of the season, JJ will be back soon enough).

The reason for this is that you get an entire season based around a certain subject instead of a season with episodes that has their own little thing going.
Having episodes that are not a follow up to the last one makes it feel more fresh I guess.

Now that doesn't mean I don't like it when they make a little follow up like Go God Go which Is my favourite episodes ever.

I also don't very much care for the subject this or the last season focused on so having 10 episodes covering the same-ish topic gets very dull.
I much prefer it when episodes has that "mystery" surrounding the plot and you just don't get that with these last two seasons.

It made me start watching it again, so yes.

I think last season was the perfect pacing mixed with an umbrella arc/theme. This season, while I enjoy it, feels like it's full of filler and exposition.

I have a feeling this season's going to continue being meh. They have to focus on the election, obviously, but they have nothing to add. There's no commentary that hasn't been done lots already in the past year, and their "both sides are bad xD" is predictable and safe at the best of times, and even more so now. It's not really their fault, there's just nothing edgy or funny about laughing at Trump and Hillary any more, or remakes for that matter. And I actually think them pushing the Garrison/Trump is trying to lose narrative is also lazy. I thought they might actually engage with his politics in some way, but apparently not.

The Twitter thing has been tremendously unfunny, not to mention beating a dead horse, and I do blame them for that. Although they may take it in a new direction with the actual real life suicide.

Considering how hard it might be to condense current events and issues in one episode, I think this is a relief for them, allowing more space to tell their stories. Also, the PC Principal saga was a sucess. Then and now, they can discuss a wider variety of issues and pop culture.

That being said, there is room for error. The second episode of S20 wasn't that funny. It was just a segway for the rest of the season, which is just one big eisode.
