Critique which makes you disregard a persons opinion?

mine is

>its "too" long
>"too" slow

>characters were unlikable

>it's 2 fast
>it's 2 furious

>it was all style over substance

Too long can be a valid criticism. There's a number of films that feel they have a natural conclusion, but keep adding more to the story, and it feels unnecessary and superfluous.

>The bootcamp part is the only good part about Full Metal Jacket

this is how I know the person is a pleb

>it's pretentious
>muh plotholes

>"X was problematic"

it is though...

>I didn't like how it was in black and white the hole time.

>the OP uses facebook frog to make a point

opinion disregarded.

But he didn't use facebook frog

Also

>I don't want to watch a foreign movie I don't want to READ the whole time

>it does nothing unique

>People who say ''Film is supposed to be entertainment!''
>People who have 2001, Seven Samurai, Citizen Kane, other pleb shit on their top lists
>People who have seen 1 film made before the 50s and think they have taste
>People who like Wes Anderson and think they somehow have taste
>People with most movies on list made in last 20 years
>People who have no foreign language movies listed
>People who think korean cinema is good
>People who have movies from Nolan, Tarantino, Aronofsky, Kubrick, Refn, Snyder on their list
>People who have any comic book movie listed

Any review that sounds pretentious

So like 80% of the ones given by professional critics and cited on RT

I swear so many of them try with all of their might to use as many obscure words and terms as they can for no good reason

>I didn't like the visuals

>nothing happens

>you can't understand what they're singing
>sound quality is too low (read: not heavily processed)
>it's old

>liking things I don't
>being a different person

Any of these:

>It's dated
>Too old
>Hasn't aged well
>Too campy/cheesy/corny/over-the-top
>Takes itself too seriously
>Doesn't take itself seriously enough
>It's style over substance

Evil dead is bad though.

What about "The problem is that it insists upon itself"

this right here

>only worth watching for X action scene

In a movie the characters don't need to be likable. However, if it's a TV show that I'm expected to come back to week after week, you're damn right I expect some likable characters to identify with and root for. Otherwise I find it extremely difficult to get invested and I'll end up dropping it

>Kubrick
>bad

>likeable character
>presumably never wrong
>Happens to be alt right.

Fucking pieces of shit.

>tour de force

kek

Also
>lyrical
>poetic
>emotional roller coaster
>fully realized
>sweeping
>unflinching

>People who say 'film isn't supposed to be entertainment"

>the movie was shit and you should feel bad for liking it
>the movie is kino and you are a pleb for not liking it

Honestly I don't care what or why you like/hate something but if you genuinely think any opinion on an artistic medium has any objectivity to it you are scum

>“Too long”
Just try and tell me wolf of wall street wouldn't be better with that middle part completely removed

>It's reddit
>I'ts kino

he posts on Cred Forums

The worst has to be modern internet critics uses unironically praise a movie for being "progressive" or any term similar to that. As if a movie is great because it falls in line with your socio-political beliefs

Also the reverse, when the same critics use "regressive" or something similar as an insult. Alt-right fags on this site are guilty of the same, not liking a movie because they hate the message or the idea of strong independent women. It's fine to point out what you interpret the movie's underlying themes to be, but it should be done neutrally and without bias.

Politics don't belong in film criticism, REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>"This movie would have been good if it wasn't for the fact that it's 2016 and we can't have x any longer"

>It took too long to get into.

>I'm just not a big fan of super hero movies.

What's wrong with that?
I could say that.

I hate superheroes. The very concept of them.

>people who think liking foreign or pre 50s films makes them cultured
>people who disregard directors because of their popularity

>if it is popular it is bad
>if it is foreign or obscure it is good
This kind of vapid elitism from pretentious wannabes is the real cancer that is killing cinema.

the opposite is true as well

>people who assume anyone who likes old movies is a pretentious fedora-tipper
>people who disregard directors because hipsters like them
>people who disregard movies for being old

Doesnt happen as often in my expierence
I live in a city full of fedora tippers though

>Predator 2 is shit. Doesn't hold up to the original

recommend a great xyz made in the last 2 years

>Doesnt happen as often in my expierence
It happens far more often in my experience. Most people hate older films and assume they are all boring, when in fact many of them are very enjoyable. I would consider it unusual for an individual to like old movies because I've never met anyone under 60 who genuinely appreciates them (as opposed to "studying" them a la pretentious film hipster types.) Movies have always been entertainment first and foremost since they were first invented, and it just happens to be my opinion that movies from the 30's and 40's are the best. And yet, rarely a day goes by that I don't get a fedora.jpg from some Cred Forumsedditor faggot

to be fair it is pretty difficult
ecspecially for genres like horror

you must live in a small town/city then
where i live they have showings of old films.

...

It's fun

must be nice

Too slow is a legit criticism. Have you seen Penny Dreadful? They will literally show a character walking from point A (middle of a rainy street) to point B (deep inside the cellar of a pub). Every. Single. Fucking. Step. No dialogue either. Just walking. And then when they do talk its basically a 5 minute scene of them subtly telling each other that they want to fuck. Rinse and repeat. Plot moves forward (sometimes) during the last three minutes.

The Wrong Turn series is a nice group of 70s and 80s style slasher films. If you can stand the inherent campiness, they are fun.

>Captain America: Civil War wasn't one of the best films of the last 25 years.

Your mom came to me because she thought your daddy's cock was "too" small.
I find it hard to disregard her opinion desu.

>Where's the drama?

>it´s hard to keep track of the story

>This isn't even a movie. It's just television static."
Why can't plebs appreciate anything?

>I didn't like the aesthetic
Ohhhh! Looks like someone learned a new word today!

Found the pleb

Those can be completely valid criticisms though, typically resulting from poor editing.

Unnecessary story arcs, characters, too much time away from the main plot can make a film feel too long.

A film can feel too slow when the pmkt or story isn't really progressing. This happens all too often when a film is "saving" things for the sequel.

Do you also hate the Odyssey and Beowulf, and all the literature they influenced?

The second half wasn't bad, but it didn't offer much new from the dozen other Vietnam movies of the same period. The boot camp part is memorable because it was different.

ME LOVE YOU LONG TIME

>not enough action

>It's pretentious
>It's style over substance
>It's slow/boring

The big three for me. Most people are absolutely retarded when it comes to cinema, like most of Cred Forums. You dirty subhumans

>"It's not even a film, it's literally two hours of a man screaming at the camera."
YOU'LL BE SCREAMING NEXT, NORMIE!!!!!!!

>it is though...
>it is though...
What a constructive argument you have there and those were perfectly good dubs down the drain too, fucking moron

What bugs me is when people reject the premise, (like the main character can read inhumanely fast, I don't know) and then start deriving plot holes out of the movie, that easily wouldn't be if they just accepted the premise.

>Entry Level

>it was too dark for me

fucking women

>Comfy

>marvel is good

i suposse that by "listed" you don't only mean "watched"

You can't be unbiased.

>"X gon give it to ya."

He gon' give it to ya

>too much rape

>im not watching this its black and white

>FUCK WAITING FOR YOU TO GET IT ON YOUR OWN

That's why I left nightcrawler half way through.

Well, really it because the characters were too boring, but same sort of thing.

WHAT

This, not enough quips and cuckolding.

Next time someone tells you to stop doing/saying something, just say the magic word:
>Or else?

Some people don't want to miss out on half of the visual experience in a medium based around visuals.
It's understandable.

>durrr oooh pretty colors hurrr so pretty hahah haha booo boooo hahahaha

Good point.

>its "too" long
>"too" slow

Literally the only critiques I hear about pic related and its always ADHD kids.

What a great movie.

>Critique which makes you disregard a persons opinion?

Posts accompanied by pictures of frogs usually does it for me.

what movie?

>>its "too" long
>>"too" slow

How is that bad criticism? there are a few great movies over 2.5 hours, but there are also a lot of shitty ones that can be cut down to a normal length.

You have to be very confident in your movie if you're going to make people sit down for over 2 hours. If the first half of the movie is shit, people will walk out. If the first hour is slow as fuck and nothing happens, people will fall asleep.

There are a few thousand great movies over 2.5 hours, didn't read the rest of your post.

>it takes itself too seriously
FUCK ANY REVIEWER THAT SAYS THIS

>There are a few thousand great movies over 2.5 hours
name one thousand of them

tspdt top 1000

Or Funny People with that new unnecessary 30 minute plot at the end.

The go-to buzzword when anons feel like shitposting:

>it's pretentious

I guess you missed the over 2.5 hours part

I guess God missed the over 5'10" part with you

>I couldn't relate to the characters

If they can't sit through a silent movie then their opinion on any film is worthless.

>weird
>confusing
>pretentious

>too violent
>too dark
>too boring
>too weird

I hate this so much. Character can be fun/interesting to watch even if they're jerks.

>american banter

You are easily the most pretentious person in this thread.

These. It's not even commentary on the film, it's just the person blogging about themselves using the film as an excuse.

>It's too different from the book

My mum always bitches about loud noises. If there are gunshots in the movie, she'll just leave, or turn over and try to sleep. Its a bit fucked, lads.
