Nice classic fantasy movie.
It reminded me of the 80's and 90's style of fantasy movies, only with better special effects.
no
>Durotan's death scene
more feels than i expected
delete the college youtube tier human acting and just have orcs, then you have a decent kino
this, they should've gone full cgi over motion capture, in the style of WoW's cinematic
also, hire Blizzard's composers for the soundtrack instead, Ramin Djawadi really phoned it in with this one
the problem with this movie was that, being a Warcraft fan himself, Duncan Jones tried way too hard to serve the Warcraft fanboys and he lost the general audiences in that process.
I was the movie just last night and I agree with this. All the Stormwind/human shit looks tacky as hell.
Also the pacing was pretty bad as well, as was the dialogue, and most of the acting.
Medivh's character seemed kind of fucked up and unclear. Why not just have him consciously lusting for the power that Sargares or whoever was offering him?
Also, what about that whole blood of Manoroth thing? That concept was cool as hell, why not use it? Who were thos KirinTor guys and what the fuck was that black cube? It seemed like maybe way too much was trying to be accomplished.
The way Gul'dan casually and periodically drain that human bitchboi's life essence was kino
Gul'dan was probably the greatest blockbuster villain in a very long time
THE FUEL FOR MY MAGIC IS LIFE
That's how Medihv is supposed to be portrayed. He was born corrupted by Sargeras
> him consciously lusting for the power that Sargares or whoever was offering him
Aegwynn (Medivh's mother) got splintered with a shard of the avatar of Sargeras when she fought him. It caused her body ( and her unborn child) to become "corrupted". It made Medivh really strong as a child but also suceptible to corruption. Slowly over the years, Sargeras invaded Medivh's body. In the stories its a bit more catastrophic, but Medivh was largely unaware that he was corrupted.
The blood of Mannoroth happens later in the story, so if they make a WC2 movie sure, but I think it would appear in WC3 even though they might just make it an Arthas centered story
I thought the CGI looked a little off. I kinda thought they'd tone down the over exaggerated art style for a more serious film interpretation.
Yup, he's tied for first as best warcraft villain, next to Arthas of course.
Arthas dindu nuffin tho.
why did decide to start the story from warcraft 1
are the people in blizzard so stupid they think they have to make the movies in the same order as the video games? their most compelling story telling was in warcraft3, why not adapt that?
When the rumors first came out that a WC movie was on the table (around 07) and then again when it was confirmed around 2012 or so I hoped that blizz would be using the same cgi that they use(d) in their cinematics but it seems like they really took a hands off approach to the film which you can see with the style of cgi, soundtrack, and deviation from the canon. It's like they kinda gave into the fan demands for a film they were iffy about making but instead of spearheading it they decided to pass it off and use it as an advert for the game.
That being said, I really enjoyed the film, I'm a fanboy and it's about time that fantasy started coming back onto the big screen and what better way than to do so with a franchise that has had a steady fanbase for over 2 decades
More please.
to understand the dynamics between alliance and horde for 1. Also the reason for the whole Litch King storyline is because of the burning legion's presence in Azeroth.
It needed about 30 minutes more, some in intro , some for pacing
I want it to get enough interest from the gooks and Blu-ray sales to warrant a sequel, that they wont fuck up, the story of Thrall and Proudmore.
Then in WC3, have Arthas and Illidan and watch it just fucking rain money.
>only with better special effects
You mean worse
They should've done this. CGI everything.
it was shit and you should feel ashamed for watching it, i know i do.
>Not fucking up
>after they fucked up basically everything
hah... hahaha
Yea, no, this shits dead in the water. The only hope legendary had was for china to not be shit and not just pocket every cent they could.
>the story of Thrall and Proudmore
spoiler alert: it sucked in the game and will suck in the movie
The Orc main character just randomly fucking dies
m..mommy?
It felt like warcraft thats it man the music and shit. it felt good.
youtube.com
yeah, putting warcraft style orcs alongside regular humans just does not work. everything needs to be stylized, over the type, and muscled to shit
I would fucking kill for a TFT movie
you cannot recreate this
youtube.com
TFT is just the prequels in a fantasy setting.
Also less shit.
I bet a lot of the pacing and confusing/unexplained parts were caused by scenes being removed for whatever reason.
and that reason is the fact the CGI for those scenes wasn't finished and the deadline was looming
If they went with the WC3 storyline it would've been pure kino. Hopefully China's great taste will let us get a sequel, and we'll get to see the greatest hero of our generation, Arthas, as a main character.
The trailer for WC3 was better.
Why did they omit this scene? Greatly humanizes the orcs and gives some Grom fanservice.
>Now that the dust has settled
bretty gud
you can do that in exposition. this whole movie felt like a 100 million $ trailer for an actual movie
abso-lutely
>youtube.com
>pic related came out in 2016
We have to go back
Well, it was pretty meh adaptation, but STILL one of the best fantasy movies and one of the best 2016 movies. Imagine, how awesome it could be if they just didn't froced the shit up. Orks vs Draeneis first. Peaceful Shamans became warclocks and bloodthirsty warriors who begin to slaughter neighboring people. Epic battles and shit. Decent story about betrayal of Guldan etc.
>one of the best fantasy movies
>one of the best 2016 movies.
There's been like ten fantasy movies and 2016 has been absolutely awful.
Why do people post lowest praise like this like it means dick?
>DUDE IT WASN'T AS BAD AS CONAN THE DESTROYER SO IT WAS GREAT SEQUEL WHEN
Still nothing has surpassed pic related.
I'm still pissed that the Prince of Persia movie was so shit, that's one of my favourite game series.
It's better than almost any NOT 2016 fantasy movie, mate. It's worse than LotR and first Hobbit. But others are just as ok or worse.
yea, it wasn't that bad, but was there EVER a time where Blizzard didn't think they were GODS AMONG MEN?
They act liek their a sacred institution that must always have their cartoon characters be taken 100% seriously.
>it was worse than PJ's hobbit
And PJ's hobbit was abhorrent. So you're saying warcraft was more abhorrent than PJ's hobbit and wondering why there hasn't been a sequel announced.
First Hobbit was good. The second and third is garbage. Warcraft is 7/10 fantasy with 10/10 orks and 5/10 humans. This movie is okay. It could be as good as LotR, but it's just okay. And still better than ANY other fantasy movie. So be glad to have it.
>First Hobbit was good.
It was not, by any standard.
The animated hobbit was good, but you're probably too young to know what that is.
No, but the candy is.
This will forever be the best videogame movie because it acknowledges how corny it is, has beautiful set design and cinematography, builds excellent atmosphere, has a god-tier soundtrack, and wasn't tainted by the studio trying to turn it into something it's not.
>ancient and cheap-looking garbage
>good
You just have duckling syndrome.
Same.
That scene is kinda hard to watch for me.
>those death gasps and gurgles
I liked it
Solid 6
Mostly fails in terms of characterisation, editing and pacing
...
From what I've read, there are serious talks about a sequel. Apparently Duncan plans on skipping most of the 2nd war, and instead focusing on Thrall as he grows up, with Doomhammer as a mentor.
Why didn't they just do Warcraft III? Could've been the Prequel trilogy the world deserved.
