Ask a guy who works for DirecTV anything

I'm a customer service representative at a call center in DirecTV's retention department, and have been thinking of doing something like this for a while, so go ahead and ask me anything. No personal information or anything like that

What's the weather like?

Not bad. Starting to cool off, which is great because my apartment doesn't have AC

Never really had to call you faggots so I guess I wonder what kind of info do you faggots have access to if I were to call up? Like do you guys have a little history of what we've watched or know whats on our DVR?

Most people think we have access to that, but we don't. Unless you ordered a Pay-Per-View, we can't see jack shit about what you're watching

First, how was your day today? :)

And why did you decided to get that job?

We have your address, phone number, credit/debit card info (if you have it on file) as well as your general equipment/package info

When did your life decisions lead you to working in a call center?

Aren't those jobs for nigs? Are you a nig?

Not bad, aside from the obvious hell of working in a call center. Decided to get it because they were hiring, and my job in a kitchen wasn't really making ends meet. Full time now, pay is okay (just above minimum wage) but I also get benefits, and I make a bit extra in commission every month

everyone has worked tech support for a major cable company fuck off OP.

I'm as white as mayonnaise. I started last January, originally in their sales/billing department. Just needed a job that could make ends meet better than part time at a restaurant

This is why the white race is dying out

>reee why wont the affirmative action jews hire me
>what? I dont wanna do tradeswork/construction, that's for spics
>what? I don't wanna do call center work, that's for niggers
>what? I don't wanna work at a gas station, that's for Pajeets

Why csr and not tech stuff like IVR or Get a waiver group

Retention friend. Tech support is handled by the Philippines

I chose retention because on top of being full time (and not having tech support in my area) I make extra commission money off of my calls based on whether I sell somebody equipment, an internet bundle through a partner company, or if the call ends without that person's account being disconnected.

I also get free DirecTV, so that's a plus

What's the funniest call you ever got? I can only imagine the creeps you had to deal with.

I usually get guys in the states

You can pretty much tell them what you feel like paying at this point can't you?

I had a woman call up screaming at me because she was watching an old movie on TV Land or something like that, and she was screaming for twenty minutes about black bars on the side of her screen, obviously not listening when I was trying to tell her it was because of the aspect ratio of the original program.

Also a lot of old people with $20/month bills yelling at me about how their bill is too high when they already have $50 off each month in discounts

What's the best way to convince a sub to spend $100 on wifi boxes, can you give them a deal off the price if they do

It depends. Some accounts we have a lot of discounts (up to $50 off each month for a year with a contract) but some accounts we just don't have any discounts on it, for one reason or another

Going to assume you're talking about the wireless Genie Minis. If so, we can't do anything to waive the $99 set up fee if it's going to be charged.

To convince somebody, well they are very useful. You don't need it plugged in to a coax outlet, and they can work up to 80 feet away from the main receiver. A lot of people use them outside with projectors for parties

I had a few phone jobs early in my career. I never minded them. As long as you inject some of your personality (and you have a sense of humor) it will inevitably lead to a much better job. A job with a company that size can be a gold mine.

do you know sholanda dykes?

You're fucked OP. The NFL deal is the only thing keeping Directtv in business. When that expires they're going to be the next Blockbuster.

Exactly. The job isn't bad aside from the (more than) occasional asshole, the worst part is the third party company that we're contracted out from

What is involved in giving someone an upgraded package so they can get more channels? Is there some database on your end that says who has access to what or do you just store that on the customers device and hope they aren't smart enough to tamper with it?

Yup that's the rap I give them ease of use and stuff

I guess that's why I'm lucky I'm technically not a DirecTV employee, and am contracted out by a third party call center

Not entirely sure what you mean. Each bill says exactly what the customer has and is being charged for. We can change packages, and add/remove some select channels, but if you're implying adding something to an account without them knowing, people are fired everyday for that, and I'm not about to be homeless

Ah so they'll just move you to a new account? I have Directtv (for the nfl) last time I called customer support it was a call center in costa rica.

You dumb shit ; att just bought them for billions those satellites aren't going anywhere

Also, I beg to differ on us going away after the NFL contract expires

consumeraffairs.com/cable_tv/cable.htm

I mean if I tamper with my box will I be able to watch more channels or will you be able to spot that on your end.

Like anyone under 30 pays for tv. It's a wrap.

OH! No idea, honestly. We can't see things like that on our end. If you manage to do it, I'd imagine we wouldn't know unless somebody looked at your receiver

My parents got free HBO/SHO/Cinemax/etc. for a couple of months since they opened a new account.

What do I say when I call in to jew you people into keep on giving us the movie channels and cinemax for free? I don't mind paying my parents so they can keep HBO and Shotime, they show some kino on there 7 times out of 10 late at night

Theoretically, yes. The one I work at has AT&T, and Anthem (health care) contracted from there as well

The NFL deal alone was 12 billion retard. Yeah the infrastructure might be worth something, but directtv is a dead man walking.

>Letting the DirecTV jew in your home
Not even once

Speaking of which, do you feel that Hitler was a warmonger or did both the east and west force him into WWII despite his efforts to remain peaceful.

When they go to remove them, the department they (or you) get to, will try to keep you from removing them (as the agents lose money from their personal checks for that). They will try whatever we have to have you keep them, up to $7 off each premium channel for the next six months. Anything better, and the retention department MIGHT have something like an additional discount available, but it's rare. Also retention doesn't lose money from their personal checks for removing them, so yeah

I work for Cox Communications call center in Billing

If you want free shit speak to the terminations department. They'll give you all kinds of shit if you threaten to terminate.

Depending. That's the department that I work in. New customers RARELY have anything extra in the retention department that they wouldn't already get in the other departments, because they're already getting assloads of shit for being a new customer

Proof? Cause att is gonna announce that anyone with direct tv can stream from the app at no data limit, 4K sat is in orbit not fired up completely but out there and the bundle packages with att internet. But I'm retarded.

Call centers are the lowest common denominator job. Even trash pickers have more say in the execution of their job. Thread is pointless.

Also, with DirecTV bringing in the streaming only services in a couple of months, having the most 4k channels out of any TV provider in the US currently (not to mention the only TV provider with loyalty discounts over $5 off)

I grew up with DirecTV and I loved it

I got Time Warner Cable when I moved on my own and it's shit and I hate it so I got rid of it and got PSVue. I miss DirecTV but I have NFL Redzone and that's all I ever really wanted anyway. I mostly just watch Law and Order reruns since like 5 different networks run that show in syndication and I find it very comfy viewing

Even before being an employee, DirecTV was my favorite. Had TWC in college and Dish at my grandparents' house when I lived with them, but I rarely watched television at that time because I didn't like their services.

That being said, if they didn't give me my television for (basically) free, I still wouldn't have television right now, as it's a luxury I don't use super often, nor do I want to pay what ANY television company charges at the current moment for how much I use it

>t. cuck

Hypothetically if you were air dropped into Afghanistan and were given the opportunity to side with either the USSR or Afghanistan during the invasion and armed with only a Glisenti Model 1910, who would you side with?

>You can't change sides later
>You can change weapons but only the weapons used by your side.

USSR

Proof of what? The NFL/DirectTV deal? Public record. Google it.

Beyond that neither of us are soothsayers, but as a businesman I sure as fuck don't like their chances. What do they have other than the NFL? A bunch of content people can get for free elsewhere? I'm not saying that the satellites are worthless, im saying DirectTV as it currently exists is done. At&t obvs is not. The NFL started streaming some games on Twitter this year. DirectTV is not in their long term plans.

Retard there's nothing you can do to get more channels

Are you a shill? Who needs directtv? All of the content is easily found elsewhere for free.

What an idiot

I'm not white, so it's genetically impossible for me to be a cuck. Whites are literally so cucked on a genetic level that they obsessed about it on a cultural level by way of Chaucer and The Miller's Tale. just take the L, cuckboi.

Ask a former brazzers customer service manager anything

That's still a long way off. As of right now, assuming we don't renew the contract again, we still have exclusive rights until the 2022/2023 NFL season

He's not an idiot at all. I have directtv(NFL), and have gotten them to give me tons of shit for free. It's an antiquated technology. They have no leverage.

Well, I mean, I like having money to eat and pay my rent and electricity bill

>This faggot doesn't comprehend JTAG programming.

>Being a black cuck

Oh the irony

On a macro level, that is not a long way off.

I mean, true. That being said though, it's not going to effect me as I don't plan on working here for the next six years, and I doubt many people that work here are going to be there at that time either

I'm not a mooncricket either, you feckless straw-grasping millennial nu-male. You can only be a cuck in a racial context if your race's birthrate is below replacement rate.

I don't mean you personally, but if i was a directtv exec i wouldn't get too comfortable.

t. tumblr

So how's that white birthrate doing, cucklet?

Your hard on for whites is showing nigger

I'm not black. So how's that white birthrate doing, cuck?

>I'm not black I swear

You're a cuck too which further rolls on the embarassment

>calls me a cuck
>his race is the one that's dying out

cute MSPaint wojak edit though, I'm sure it'll really help you put your mind at ease that your race is dying out

>start bogus race debate to derail convo about the increasing irrelevance of centralized media

Who could be behind this?

AT&T U-Verse shills. Either that, or...Dish Network.

It was me I called a dude a cuck and these other 2 cucks started a race riot ITT

Or ((()))

Everyone in this thread is a fucking cuck

i hope to god you dont plan to stay in that call center for any longer than a year

move into an IT support role asap for a real business. if you get lucky and know someone you can make 40k easy with no degree. otherwise get those certs and take the 32 - 35k level 1 support job.

Nah dude I called another dude a cuck that doesn't make me a cuck

I used to work as a tech support person for Comcast.
>feel free to ask me anything also

Including you and the niggers

have you you are you currently masterbating to BMWF interracial porn?

In my location, this is one of the only full time jobs available, not counting being a corrections officer. I plan on staying at the longest until my lease on my apartment is up, and then I'm completely leaving the area. Though, having a background in graphic design, I've gotten word from a friend of mine about a graphic design company that may be looking for work, so I may be gone sooner than that

> went through direct tv customer service training
> spend 90% of the time dicking around
> top scores in the class, quit my very first day out of training, end up with a job that pays more and all I do is listen to music and comedy albums while typing freight information, nearly 0 human interaction
I miss that job. Data entry is the ideal job for people that hate customer service.
99% of your calls are dealing with sports packages and someone missing a game.
Fuck that shit.

N-no

>the increasing irrelevance of centralized media
They really don't want us discussing this.

>graphic design
>2016
get a new plan

you keep CC info in plaintext?
seriously?

Let me rephrase that. We have the last four digits (rest is just X) and we have the expiration date. Sometimes we have other information from it, but generally that's what shows up.

Sometimes Social Security Numbers too, but that's generally only when we're setting something up where we need it, and we have to ask for it..

Also why we're not allowed pen/paper or our cell phones out while on the floor at all or we get instantly fired

Yeah they told me to call you guys all cucks to trigger you into arguing about birthrates or some dumbass shit like that

Are you are the center in Boise?

No. I'm in New York

Dude they have those callcenters all over the country

>I've gotten word from a friend of mine about a graphic design company that may be looking for work, so I may be gone sooner than that

You're gonna pack up and leave town because of 2nd hand information?

what is bmwf racial porn?
>black people used to call in constantly to claim their kids accidentally ordered porn and wanted the charge credited to their account. I told them to fuck off.

Probably should have worded that better. The graphic design company is in my town, and my friend works there. Only reason I haven't gone there yet is because they haven't been hiring for a while

i hated working at comcast. Almost every call was someone swearing complaining about their internet not working. You dont know how many times i want to tell people to go fuck themselves. Sometimes I would reset their modem just to piss them off.

user it's almost impossible to make an adult living in graphic design anymore. Avoid. It's a dead end.

Honestly you should plan on moving to a somewhat decent urban area, and as long as you're not fat, you could easily parlay your current experience to an inside sales job. If you're good looking, maybe even outside sales. If you can sell and have a college degree there is no reason you couldn't semi-easily make six figures.

Never said graphic design was going to be my career path, just that I have a background in it and it would be miles better than what I do now.

Plus the company does a ton of website coding for IBM, so there's that
